In your time in the gym training w/ people did you find it that having a 3 person training group was more beneficial than 2? or was it the other way around.
opinions...

I would have to say 2. More personal, more comfortable. You get to know them more and they get to know you, how you lift, how you liked to be spotted. Plus the workout goes faster. 3 people can take a lot longer to lift, lot more BSing, I would go with 2.

I like having 3 people if they are all serious and around the same strength. i haven't worked out alone in a while now but for years i trained alone or with 1 other person and never had any problems.
Doesn't really matter too much as long as they are close in strength so we aren't swapping plates all night...

Most times I work out alone but if lifting heavier, I like to work with just one person.
If I do that though, it has to be someone who is all about the workout and not into the chatter---so we get through the lifting workouts faster and can stay focused.

Agree completely with overload. IF (and its a big if) everyone is really serious about being there, the time it takes for person # 2 & 3 to go usually gives person # 1 enough rest time.
Currently i train with no one, and have for about 3 years....i think usually anything's better than that.

2 is perfect. 3 = too much time between sets, unless powerlifting.
Most pros seem to go with 2.

Three's company, four turns into a BS session. Two guy's after your set allows just enought time to recover and hit the next set, keeps the tempo up. Can also have the two other people act as spotters for you on heavier sets and you for them. I've been told that Arnold, Columbo and who ever they could round up as the third training partner (use to change a lot) most always worked out that way. Good Luck.

cool! I'm just in a awkward postion because the guy I've been training w/ for about 2 yrs is just not as focused on some days than others. he like to BS w/ the staff and other people, but he has been the only guy to hang around this long.. + he is a real nice guy... you know one of those people you take in consideration
I started hitting the weights w/ this guy thats been there for quite a while while my partner is in Dubai for business. and this guy is intense, great motivater, no BS @ all. he was telling me that his partner was a drag 2 work out w/ also + he won't be coming in very often anymore.
So he told me that he and I have the same drive toward the weights and same goal. this is where i gave him the 411 on my partner and he said we can do a 3 person circut if you want
The thing is my body is set up for a lot of drop-sets/super-sets/ min-rest between exercises so the 2 person work out great but i lack the outside trash talk i get from my partner.but i think the 3 set up will kick my partner in the ass.
man i fucking sound like a whinny gay-bitch crying over his partner dilemma...
Well thats my GAY-ASS rant for now

Thanks JPM. I was wondering what your take on this was...

These days I train alone, occasionally asking for a spot if I need it.
Before, it depended on what exercise we were doing. Generally for heavy compound movements, 3 people, so then I can rest a couple minutes b/w sets.

Both guys train hard and keep the workouts intense and on track...not much BS at all. they have been competeing in powerlifting for years and since i'm getting ready for my first meet they have taken me under their wing, so to speak.
We get the job done in under 2 hours easy. it's nice to have two big fuckers there to help motivate. i trained alone for years and made good gains but i actually prefer to train this way for the time being.
