18yrs on will this years top 3 at MrOlympia match that quality look.

last year the Mr O was impressive I think.
97 was so-so (maybe it was the lighting, or the pics I saw, maybe they were retouched.. I dunno), 98? eh.. 99 was ok for the top 4-5, after that? eh. :-[

Yes last year was good.
As you say a lot depends on the lighting
& the quality of the photo's.
Over here in the uk a lot of the dry, grainy
type look is in the Men's classic class's
And the 80's 90's & some in 100kg
that look is very rare in the superheavy weight class.

no no.. I meant that was the last year the MrO was impressive. lol.. 1996.
I think dorian looked better in 96 than he did in 97, as well as Nasser. many say Nasser was robbed in the 97 MrO, but I think he looked better in 96, but dorian also looked better in 96... kev was ok, although I thi9nk kev was much better in 95... the rest of the lineup still had that "look" that was common in the 90's as well... until they #1 started testing for diuretics, and #2 started the higher dose gh and adding insulin in larger amounts.

they all looked better that the gran prix's that year.. and the following year.
personally, I think they fucked up the lighting and backdrop/stage colors at the '97 MrO.

None of these clowns could hold a candle to today's elite. Idiots on here again mistaking poor photo and video quality with "grayniness" and "quality muscle".

Having seen the pro's in the 80's & 90's & some of them in 2000's
i would say several of the top men from the 80's & 90's + of course
ronnie coleman would do well against the current top pro's.
That's not taking anything away from the current top pro's.
Clearly the likes of phil heath at the olympia looks very good.
As we don't have a time machine it is pure speculation as to
just how good or bad the yesteryear pro's would compare.
