Talking to Dexter Jackson at the NPC Los Angeles championships this past Saturday, and he tells me he is 15 pounds heavier than he was during the same time last year, and that don't think he won't place in the top five this year at the 2014 Olympia. It just may be.
After the NPC USA's are over, sometime in early August, it will be time to make our yearly Olympia predictions!
Dexter is here with Chris Cormier, who probably, if many of you don't know, one of the very first bodybuilders I met 20+ years ago.
-
How is Chris looking? Healthy?
One of the all time greats
-
Dexters face looks bad. :-\ :-\
-
I am looking forward to the Mr Olympia!
-
Dexter looks bigger than his usual.
Needs to drop the Affliction T-Shirts though, it's a 2008 look.
-
Regarding to ifbb.com, several Canadians competed at Latino American Olympia but not a single American ?
Nice trophies at that Olympia :)
-
Dexters face looks bad. :-\ :-\
grainy look ;)
-
Dexter is Dexter. Hes a legend.
-
i prefer dex's physique to just about anyone's.
arguably sub par calves, but everything else is about perfection.
best front double biceps pose ever. if he went the flex wheeler way and enhanced his calves, itd be flex who?

Flex was better IMO.
on a site note, if kai gets into condition like flex is below then he has the title.

im not seeing it..flex was weak in back and quads... had great arms and delts..but dex isnt a slouch there. flex's FDB was flat and was all arms..

Why the heck is he just now deciding to gain 15 pounds on his physique?? During his whole entire pro career he just now decides to get bigger at 45 yrs old??
Wasn't like he wasn't placing well

Father time, but he has still one of the best builds among the pros.

no.. the opposite. suspiciously skinny.

Bags of oil in his arms... rear delts (and maybe some other parts as well) make him a better bodybuilder? Flex '93 was great, but later... meh

Dex will beat Shawn Rhoden

-

Dexter looking swole here is the order of the o this year.
1.phil heath
2.kai green
3. dennis wolf
4. big ramy
5. dexter jackson
6. shawn roden
-
I genuinely wouldn't mind if Dexter won again.

Flex was better.. Dexter Turtle stomach is so off-putting..
-
It will be interesting to see Dexter standing next to Ramy
-
The guy is almost 50 and he now wants to come in heavier? Major mistake. The guy should be thinking about retiring and bringing his bodyweight down to 180 pounds and maybe live to see 55...Or at the very least bring his bodyweight down and compete at the 212 div...

I think that he is afraid to come off the drugs.... become small.. and lose his bodybuilding life

It is actually the most perfect midsection I have ever seen on a bodybuilder
And im one of the biggest schmoes here believe me
To me Dex actually looked better than Flex overall too, maybe very early Flex is better...you know without all that seo
-
I think that he is afraid to come off the drugs.... become small.. and lose his bodybuilding life
Ya didn't he compete as a lightweight(like 154 pounds) when he was an adult? So he'd probably be around 160 pounds or lighter if he quit everything...

.
Why would a FORMER MR. OLYMPIA who is still top 5 material go to the 212 class?
-

There are very few that CAN handle the downsize. Look at Cormier wearing a varsity jacket in the summer. He was such a confident guy and now that the body no longer looks in proportion to his agromegalion head, he feels insecure and needs to make his body appear bigger somehow. I suffer from the same insecurities when completely off. Uggh, who can tolerate the inevitable, "You look like you lot some size bro" or "What happened" comments from randoms?
Dex's weight has gone up quite a bit since his O win, I think he could contend with Heath easily if he could present "Blade" quality condition at 240-245..'..and bring some separation in the quads finally.
-
The human body can only tolerate continuous drug abuse for so long. His liver and/or kidneys must be close to failure by now. He should've retired years ago.
I like his physique, but Dexter will never be Mr O. again, and I doubt he'll live to see his 60th b-day.
-

Heard he has been off for a year, just been on that Blade Nutrition™ ;D

master Splinter said Dexter will crack Top 5

Flex was only good early on, his later showings were very overrated
In some ways Cormier is better and flex is a little overrated. Then again when he was on like I said early showings , he was unbeatable imo and the best but....
Dex to me is the best right now as the only competitive 90's bber among a bunch of heavily insulined GH physiques
-

He started as a bantam at 130's

And a drug-free Dexter would be way smaller than Cormier is currently.

Dexter is Dexter. Hes a legend.
and Sargent Batista is Sargent Batista .
WoooSSHHHHH Bacardi
-
Dex's ability to juice for so long and still respond and be top 6 in the world is indeed amazing
but father time catches up with everyone
Dex can easily be top 5 this years 0
Does Cormier actually have HIV? or just a rumor?

Many of you sound like an accomplished medicine scientis here... ::)
It will be funny if some of these guys outlive you and alikes.

In all honesty, I think Affliction t-shirt is the best option for a bodybuilder 35 years and over.,,
unless you have any suggestions?
WoooSSSHHHHHHH BE YE KE

Why would a FORMER MR. OLYMPIA who is still top 5 material go to the 212 class?
Because at almost 50 years old adding weight to his body is basically suicide. It's not like he' going to put on weight and win the thing. So dropping weight would be good for his overall health. Plus whats wrong with trying to win the thing in a different class? Has anyone ever won both titles before? That would be more impressive than placing 5th thru 8th...

Dexter will be top 3 this year

Winning the 212 is hardly on par with placing top 5 at the actual Olympia. The one guy who tried (David Henry, when it was the 202 class) barely made the top 15.
As for Dex winning the Olympia again, the circumstances would have to be similar to 2008: He's on; the champ is off; and another guy is out, perhaps due to injury.

Raw, no condom...
Oh wait :-X :D

Used to be a lot smaller...

i wanna say top 3 ... but i pick the ones i came up watching .
I saw him win the NPC First Coast as a middle weight circa 1993 ...

True but what I'm saying is Dex already won the Olympia and will most likely never win it again. So why not drop some weight and win it in a diff/Division and be the first(I believe)to do this...After winning the Olympia, anything other than winning or at worst runner up will be looked at in history as a failure...
-

He has been a good poser from the beginning!

I beg to differ. As long as he can hang in the elite class, that's where he should compete. Obviously, Dex can do that, as he is still in the top 5 at the O and he won the Arnold last year. The 212s are loaded with guys he's clobbered or can easily clobber, anyway.
Plus, Dex wouldn't be the first to win the lighter class and the actual Olympia outright. That would be Franco Columbu, who won the under-200-lb class several times. In 1976, he did it again and bested over-200-lb class winner, Ken Waller, to win the overall Mr. Olympia title.
Furthermore, Frank Zane has done that three times, winning his class and beating the over-200-lb winners (Mentzer and Robinson, twice) for the whole ball of wax.

So if Dexter was to do it, he would join just Franco Columbu and Frank Zane of the only people to hold both titles. That would be pretty cool.

Zane and Columbu did that simply because that's how the rules were at the time. The goal was to win the overall. We don't herald the guys for just winning the 200-lb+ classes (Waller, Mentzer, Robinson).

One of my top favourites, great structure and balance between muscle groups, how hes kept his midsection so tight all these years boggles my brain.
