I know a guy who signed up to the army and got kicked out during basic training.
He ended up squaring up to the sergeants.
I asked him why all the confrontation, his response was "They kept telling me what to do all the time"

The opening post is in the lead for dumbest thing posted in the new UK board.

I think it will take something monumental to overtake it.

No country can win its wars when its political leaders have no stomach for military victory.

So somehow you have the UK winning wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but then you say they didn't determine the final outcome?  How does that work?  You say panama and others are trivial yet the Falklands and Ireland as a war?

Yeah, I'll give you Ireland, but the Falklands War was deffo a war.  The clue is in the title.

I lived in Canada (southern Ontario) for a couple years and it was interesting seeing their perspective on the War of 1812.  Growing up in the US we were taught that this was a small war between the US and Britain over trade rights or some shit.  We sure as hell were not taught that the US lost it or that it was a war of conquest (US trying to take over Canada).

In Canada it is a big point of national pride and is viewed as a Canadian victory over the invading Americans.

I don't know who is right.
