I was watching the Edinburgh festival highlights on bbc 3
and it occurred to me that female comedians are shit
is it possible for female comedians to be funny
I am exercising my French and saunders clause for this debate

I think the reason some female 'comedians' make it, is that no one is expecting them to be funny at all. When they are mildly funny, they become stars and the bar of expectation is so low.

its the same when you watch mock the week
they have their quote of females on the panel that I sometimes wonder if they have plucked out the audience
people talk about jo brand being funny but I don't see it

Most female comedians are fat, and its self mockery that is their entire act.

they get more funny as they behave like men...
they have to swear a lot and, for the most part, lack timing.

Exactly, there is always one seemingly black female comdedian thrown into the mix that says one single thing the entire show and usually is self depreciative or racist

Im positive Jerry was a writer too, I know that for sitcoms their is about 10 writers.
Modern Family has atleast 15 writers per show

everything jerry has done outside of his show has been pretty bad.
he has a web show "comedians in cars getting coffee" that's just horrible.

I'm sure he contributed, I just dont see his humour in the show.

I loved the show, he was the worst part of it, George, Kramer, Elaine and newman made it amazing.
I like modern family, I mean liked it, the first 2 seasons were great, its fucked now.

The show absolutely fabulous is very funny. I used to watch it when I was going through a sad time of my life and it would make me laugh so much. I love comedy. Thank god for it... It gets you through hard times.

Ab Fab is only funny to non-brits, the type of jokes and conversations on there are normal everyday stuff over here ;D

Everytime I go somewhere third worldy and secluded, they rave about Mr Bean.
I remember a fishing trip in Dominican Republic, the Dominican guys running the trip kept themselves entertained for an hour reciting all different scenes from Mr Bean but in Spanish.....and they expected me to know what they were talking about.

Mr Bean is big in the deaf community as almost all his comedy is visual.
