It says the median is 56k, but thats probably skewed due to the "trainers to the stars" making 250K plus.

I'd best the vast majority of your regular old "personal trainers" make under 30k/yr.

"Median" actually is not very sensitive to such things since relatively few trainers make that much.  Mean would be more sensitive.  Example:

If nine trainers make $10,000 and one trainer makes $1,000,000, the mean is $109,000 and the median is $10,000.

Actually I think they should be reporting the mode (most common salary).

Ah yes... Been a long time since I dealt with those, I couldn't remember which was which. Anyway, the one that represents the exact middle would be retarded to use for any kind of reporting, but seems like the kind of thing major media would do to make something seem better than it is.

Hulkotron is a research scientist. It would be a wise lesson to us all to lower our tones to a respectable tone when addressing him.

These numbers are based on salaried or hourly employees. I don't know very many trainers that stay at the employment level before they go out on their own. These numbers seem like they would be more for corporate facilities. Most trainers I know that are on their own, full time are easily above the $100k mark but their full time is still less than the typical 40hr work week. There are doctors and attorneys that make less.

Most PTs I talked to when my wife was researching it struggled to make 35-40k/year. They have a hard time finding a client base. It was about the same for the box gym PTs.

Aside from specialized trainers and 'celeb 'trainers, I cant imagine how they could be making that much.

Like any business. You have to market yourself. Make it a business not a job.

Only naive people say that. If I asked you a series of questions that I get, you probably couldn't answer it or solve the problem.

Probably couldnt but I wouldnt be going to you for that kind of advice, much rather trust a competent physiotherapist, instead some idiot wearing gym shorts.

Ironically most of them are clueless as well, which really exposes how shit the whole industry is.
