Anybody tried it yet?
Even though I'm more than happy with my Mach3 I'm gonna have to get the 5 bladed version. I bet it's gonna cost a fucking bomb, damn you gillette, DAMN YOU!!!!!

y not just buy 5 blader blades and stich them on top of ur mach 3 or whatever. i used to use a mach 3 turbo and then got an electrix one 4 xmas.

I have sensative skin so Mikes may be different
Used the blade for 4 days. Day one I noticed a few more cuts ( The little ones u get but then go away in like 10 min with a face rince) than normal. But it takes less strokes to shave and the single percision blade is good for sideburns and if you have facial hair. With the mach it was tough to get real close without hacking whatever hair shape u had going on.
Day 2 no cuts and smooth as hell. Prob just my face not used to the 5 blades on day one
day 3 and 4 where the same. Thing works great and gives a closer less irratating shave

is it worth it imo yes. The blades last for a long ass time so the cost to replace although greater prob breaks even to a mach. price will come down anyway. things duriable and the same size as a mach

Nice review :) I'll end up getting one anyway (I haven't noticed them in the shops yet) 'cos like most men I'm a sucker for gadgets, which this new blade is really and Gillette are playing us like fools ;D
I don't see where they can go after five blades, no doubt we'll see six sometime in the future ::). They should concentrate on developing a super sharp blade, afterall, the best and closest shave you can get is with a cut throat which is of course only one blade

I was never really happy with the mach 3.
I prefer the wilkinson with 3 blades, my dad has that one, and if i'm home i'll use that.
Recently had wilkinson with 4 blades and that's def better than mach 3. It does clog quite fast if i havent shaved a day or two.

How do you shave superhair?
Superman shaves with his heat vision reflected off of a mirror. He has telescopic and microscopic vision as well so his shave is more precise than a blade on a normal man.
If under the exposure of the rays of a red sun Superman could shave with a regular blade as he would essentially be rendered mortal.
A blade fashioned out of kryptonite would also work while he's fully powered up. Kryptonite bullets have pierced his skin in the Emporer Joker series and in the 1st or 2nd issue of the current Superman/Batman series.
He's also used a section of the eradicator as a reflective surface to shave with his heat vision while in exile on Warworld.

I'm getting one after reading this thread. I didn't think anything could beat the smoth shave the Mach 3 power gave, but this one sounds better. I shave the head, like Mike so shaving is a big deal. Weird, but I'm looking forward to shaving tomorrow. I'll stop on the way home and grab on at Brooks. I bet they even have a shaving cream that's works only with the 5 blade system ::). I'll get that too. I just got a nice check from an accident way back in 01, just settled a few weeks ago. My wife picked up the check yesterday and I must be careful, if you know what I mean.

No matter what razor I use I'm still going to have to shave the next morning so anymore I dont even bother with expensive razors. I get a little 3 bladed razor and it does the trick until the next morning. Although each blade only lasts about 4 shaves thats alright with me. A pack of 10 blades is only 10 bucks so I'm fine with that.

Man this is getting ridiculous. Marketing is some crazy $hit. I sometimes wonder if there is a conspiracy going on with Gillette and their razors. They come out with the Mach 3..... great razor. Then they had the Mach3 Turbo .. razors costing slightly more of course. I often wondered if they degraded the quality of the Mach3 razors before the launch of the Turbo blades, just to intrigue buyers into using the Mach3 Turbo.. thinking they COULD get a better shave... and in turn just sold them the 'good' quality Mach3 razors they were always buying before. Then comes the Power crap with different more expensive blades, which I'm sure they probably did the same thing with Turbo, just so you'd buy the Power BS. And now 5 blades. :-\
Maybe I'm on crack... but I'll be forking out a paycheque for the razor and some refills.... ah well.

I once made the mistake of using cheap disposable razors because I thought they were all basicly the same. It was the most painful shave I ever had in my life, it felt like I was dragging broken glass down my face

I've been using the Fusion for about a week and not 1 cut. The shaves are as smooth as a babys behind and the blades are only 8.99 for 4. It comes with a 2 dollar cupon for blades and I've been on the same one all week. Head, face and chest with no problems or nicks. They Rock and I thought the Mach 3 electric was the bomb ??? not.

I've heard that multiple blade systems can cause more ingrown hairs for people with heavy beards. The second and third blades can often push the hair in as opposed to taking it off.

I remember way back in 97 and 98, when I was 17-18 years-old, starting to shave regularly, and all we had were the traditional 2 blades razor. Then, in 2000, they came out with the 3 blades stuff. Then, it was the Chick Quattro. Now, I think this is getting ridiculous. I don't think there's any substantial difference in peformance, between a 3 blades razor and one that has 5. When will this trend end ???

If you shave during or immediately after a shower it's closer with less irritation. The 3-blade *is* better than a single blade AND lasts longer, which brings the price down. Maybe the 5-blade's a little better but I think I'll wait for the discounts to kick in after the 6-blader's introduced.

If i see the mach5 in the racks, i'll buy it and compare it to the fusion/mach3.

And a few years before then, they all went to the local barber to get a shave with a straight blade knife, the whole nine yards with steaming towels, a brush to spread the shaving soap and a fascial massage after the shave was over. Trust me, sitting there in the chair, having some dude running the knife around your face isn't exactly relaxing. Still a few places you can get it the old-fashioned way, but the shave is expensive, time consuming, inconvenient and to top it off; not as good.
Go with the times, follow the flow; get yourself a Gillette Fusion! :P
Seriously, it beats the heck out of any knife, double-edge razor, twin blade and even the Mach3.

Well I just bought one of the Powr Fusion razors. I am shaving tommorrow so I'll see how it works.

Did my comparative shavings over 2 days (wouldn't call it scientific but similar to method used when I had my internship with one of Gillette's competitors);
Day 1; Excel vs. Fusion (2 blades vs. 5 blades)
Day 2; Mach3 vs. Fusion (3 blades vs. 5 blades)
Split face in left side/right side, shaved only with grain, multiple strokes over the area until I felt there were no use in continuing, used Fusion gel for both types of blades. Rinsed face with cold water and "inspected" the shaved areas visually and by touch.
Day 1;
Excel side (right side); multiple nicks and slight bleeding, especially on area around adam's apple, significant amount of stubble when I stroked my hand against grain for inspection, especially around jaw, under chin, around adam's apple (in spite of the bleeding). Significant irritation/soreness.
At 7pm; Visible shade, great amount of stubbles on chin, under nose and below sideburns. Still sore/some redness, in particular on Excel side of adam's apple. Wife unhappy.
Fusion side (left side); no nicks, no bleeding, smooth shave, insignificant traces of stubble, couple of strains/stubbles just under nose and by the ear.
At 7pm; minimial shade, some indication of stubble but significantly less than Excel side. No irritation. Wife happy.

Day 2;
Mach3 side (left side); no nicks or cuts in spite of shaving over the Excel area from day 1. Smooth shave, some stubble. Little to no irritation on neck area (my weak area of shaving). Again a couple of strain/stubbles by the ear.
At 7pm; some shade, some indication of stubble but slightly more than Mach3 side. No irritation. Wife happy.
Fusion side (right side); again no nicks, no bleeding, smooth shave, no strains/stubbles under nose and by the ear (paid attention this time!)
At 7pm; minimial shade, some indication of stubble but slightly less than Mach3 side. No irritation. Wife happy.

Both Mach3 and Fusion have somewhat large cartridges with wide areas on the sides because of the way the blades are being held, forcing you to pay extra attention to those thight areas around your nose and along the ears. Both systems offer a nice, comfortable close shave but Fusion is slightly smoother and closer. Fusion has a better handle giving more control. The aloa strip on Fusion seems to work better and last longer, giving a smoother/slicker stroke and longer life to the cartridge.
Excel; your choice, but if you still use it, it is time to upgrade to at least Mach3!

true, but at least until that point of deterioration, you have gotten a better shave than you ever got with Excel. if you decide to be a cheapo, you can use the cartridge forever and the shave from then on will be worse than it ever was with Excel, assuming you could afford to change your Excel cartridge once ever week or two. if you want to keep that better shave, you have to swap your cartridge once in a while.
Gillette could, if they wanted to, make a cartridge in which the blades would virtually never dull but using steel of that kind of quality would not be in their interest. Gillette gives a handle and two cartridges for cheap, you get hooked and the rest is history.

I used the Mach3 for almost ten years. Never really complained about it, I liked it. But the handle would keep letting the blades slip off, and when you shave in the shower, your at risk for stepping on them- or in my shower the blade going down the drain and clogging the drain.
The other day I picked up the Fusion, and I have to say I was skeptical. I used to shave every 3rd day (Monday, Thursday, Sunday etc....). I have a pretty sensitive face, so I was leary that two more blades would kill my face, as the Mach3 already did-even shaving in the shower.
I was wrong, this thing cuts smooth as all hell. I now only have to shave about every 5-6 days, but can go a full seven and not be bothered by the hair. It's probably cutting the hair deep into my face or something like that, but it's not irritating my skin, and it's a smoother shave.
I give it two thumbs up.
(Also, if anyone else has a sensitive face, try shaving in the shower, it's worked wonders for me!)

I went back to my good ole' Sensor. No more ingrown hairs, no more razor burn, just a nice smooth shave.

fuck anything over two blades. these guys are at the end of the rope now. what's next a shaving head with 20 blades that is as big as your fuckin head? 1 stroke does it all? I'll stick to my Sensor, but what really pisses me off is that Target stopped carrying the 10 pack generics for $3.49 and now I have to buy Gillette Sensor Excels for $18. The generic ones are actually better, and cause less razor burn. Anyone know another place that still carries sensor generic blades?
