??? what's the deal with doing chinups with the assistance counterweight pad? i went to a gold's gym the other day a guy probably weighed 200 blubberly lbs was doing reps on this machine with a 160 lb counterweight. my question is why not just do regular lat pulldowns until you can manage an unassisted rep chinup on your own???? i'm just saying..... ::) ::) ::) ::)

::)if you can't do this what's the shame in doing that. ::)

I do them for a warm up sometimes with 40-50lbs of counter weight. 160lbs is pretty ridiculous.

big guys like Dennis Wolf will do them with the assisted machine, I don't see anything wrong with it, targeting the muscles with the right feeling and range of motion is important with pull ups for max back stimulus and growth.

I'll use that machine to do weighted pullups if the other 2 pullup bars are occupied but do so grudgingly because you are pretty fucking high up there when u do it so you better not fuck up.

nothing is better for back development like chinups/pullups. LPD are ok. IMHO, it is better to do weight assisted chinups > LPD.
