Sad. This is a 30 for 30 episode in the making.
-
No way. Iverson made $154 million in salary alone in his career.
He's probably just fronting like he's broke to keep his own money from getting spent up.
-
And the fuck up thing is in 15 or so years he is getting 55 million

"Over his NBA career, Iverson made over $154.5 million in salary. The 39-year-old also racked up quite a bit of income in endorsements, bringing his income to over $200 million.
Iverson blew through his money at an alarming rate on gaudy jewelry, expensive cars, and other frivolous purchases. In 2012, a Georgia judge garnished his wages to satisfy a $859,896.46 debt to a jeweler."
-
Is this story legit?
-
And the fuck up thing is in 15 or so years he is getting 55 million
Yeah, I saw that.
He just has to get a regular job for the next 15 years.

My mom had a laway at Kmart one summer for $90. We paid $5 a week, all summer long. Layaway was awesome.
-

I swear some of you clowns just pull shit out of thin air.
"Allen Iverson fell on hard times when his basketball career abruptly ended. Though the 76ers legend is currently bankrupt, he does have a $30 million trust with Reebok, which he cannot access until he is 55-years-old."
-
Iverson wouldn't/couldn't pay his car taxes and had no plates for his lambo, he also wouldn't/couldn't pay insurance on them. found that out after he got a pulled over for speeding
-
That article is from a satirical website. He gets 1 million dollars a year interest from that account he can't touch until he is 55, also his nba pension kicks in in 5 years paying him 8 grand a month. Was pictured on Facebook a couple of days ago in a club with a huge gold necklace in private area of a club.So he still gets 20 grand a week in interest.he's far from broke.
-
No sympathy , he chose to be irresponsible
-
"Broke" for one of these guys means living on $100, 000 per annum.....
Still, Allen Iverson is the man. More heart than just about any NBA player nowadays
-

There is no way this is real, he made vast sums of money.

You are broke, man.
Lindsay Lohan's 2002 Boxster is worth more than your home. :-X

This is one of the most epic moments in NBA history. So funny.
"How da hell can I make my teammates better by practicing"?

If there is a trust, any number of companies will factor that account and front him cash.
THE BEEF

THE BEEF
THis. I"m surprised no one has mentioned that sooner.
A good example of a similar situation are these lottery winners who get several mill spread out over 10-20 years and they blow through their money early on and end up going that route.

My buddy was friends with a guy who worked as a bodyguard for A.I. when he came to Miami to play the Heat. He said he would have parties that were like Porn shoots.
-
Sad. This is a 30 for 30 episode in the making.
Nothing sad about a man who blew through 200 million irresponsibly. Disappointing is a better way to put it.

An article saying Allen Iverson, the ex-Philadelphia 76ers great, was spotted “begging for change outside [of] Atlanta’s Lenox Mall” is fake.
The bogus report was posted on The News Nerd, a self-described “satirical” website.
“Troubled former NBA basketball player Allen Iverson was seen begging for change outside of Lenox Mall in Atlanta. Several mall patrons reported a man with a disheveled appearance harassing them for change,” it reads. “When security arrived, they were shocked to see it was none other than basketball legend Allen Iverson. Iverson was asked to leave the premises by mall security.”
According to a disclaimer, the website doesn’t post real news and shouldn’t be taken seriously. “The stories posted on TheNewsNerd are for entertainment purposes only. The stories may mimic articles found in the headlines, but rest assured they are purely satirical,” it says at the bottom of each page.
A number of people apparently believed the Iverson hoax. It was shared widely on Facebook–with thousands of “likes.”
“This is so sad and hard to take in. He has always been my favorite player and idol. What happened? Someone needs to help him get back on his feet. Why doesn’t the 76′ers help him. They have plenty of money! My heart goes out to him,” one person wrote in the News Nerd’s comments section

I just can't believe that story.
"Begging for change"? GTFO of here.

Racism took his money!

A black man takes a girl home from a nightclub.
She says "Show me it's true what they say about black men".
So he stabs her and takes her purse.
A black woman was filling out forms at the welfare office. Under "Number of children," she wrote "10," and where it said "List names of children," she wrote "Leroy." When she handed in the form, the woman behind the desk pointed out: "Now here where it says "List names of children," you're supposed to write the names of each one of your children." "Dey all named Leroy," said the black woman. "That's very unusual. When you call them, how do they know which one you want?" asked the welfare worker. "Oh, den I uses the last names."

He should've read this article which I've posted, here, numerous times.
That what Iverson gets for not being a Getbigger:

How (and Why) Athletes Go Broke
by PABLO S. TORRE
• By the time they have been retired for two years, 78% of former NFL players have gone bankrupt or are under financial stress because of joblessness or divorce.
• Within five years of retirement, an estimated 60% of former NBA players are broke.
• Numerous retired MLB players have been similarly ruined, and the current economic crisis is taking a toll on some active players as well. Last month 10 current and former big leaguers--including outfielders Johnny Damon of the Yankees and Jacoby Ellsbury of the Red Sox and pitchers Mike Pelfrey of the Mets and Scott Eyre of the Phillies--discovered that at least some of their money is tied up in the $8 billion fraud allegedly perpetrated by Texas financier Robert Allen Stanford. Pelfrey told the New York Post that 99% of his fortune is frozen; Eyre admitted last month that he was broke, and the team quickly agreed to advance a portion of his $2 million salary.

He has probably leverage against all of that $30 million. Creditors are probably waiting for him to get it to claim it back.

iverson still has his 32 million dollar trust fund from reebok, only problem he can't start collecting it till 2030 when he turns 55.
-
He still gets 800 000 a year from reebokalone .plus that trust fund waiting.
-
Heard a story about how he travelled without suitcases. Wherever he went he'd just stop at a store and buy clothes and shit then leave them behind. What a smart way to blow through money.

Did Goodrum advise him on investments?
Nope...Allen Iverson is far from broke. He was lucky to have a friend look out for him in setting him up with a sealed account of 45 million dollars that he cannot touch until he turns 55. In the meantime, he gets 1 million a year off the interest. In addition, he'll start getting his NBA pension to which when he turns 45, he can get about 8k a month.
As I stated before...broke as a celebrity is different from being broke

Having to shop every day seems like a much bigger waste of time than dragging some luggage around a few hundred feet.

His dumbasss mother forgot where she parked a car at the airport.
She said fuck it and just bought a new one. ;D ;D

He probably had his boyz take care of the shopping and they probably skimmed a lot off the top for themselves.

I'm going to go off on a limb here and say it was not a utilitarian venture. I'm sure the shopping was "ballerific" in every sense of the word!
