Title: 1992 Olympia - And not a single gut was seen on stage that day...
Post by: Da Freak on August 27, 2014, 05:06:56 PM

Some notes:

Unbelievable lineup!
Kevin Levrone looked incredible and could have won the whole thing.
Shawn had spectacular conditioning.
Hard to fathom how thick Momo was.
Ronnie makes a very brief cameo (blink and you miss him).
I have never seen bodybuilders train in a sauna before to dry out  :o

I was too young that time. Was this one of the best Mr. O contests of all time?

WOW, WTF has happened to bodybuilding?  The guys today look like shit compared to this vid.

Ray has crazy conditioning.
Levrone is the same, with more muscle.
Yates routine was terrible, but his muscle size and dryness is crazy.

It's truly sad to see what this shit has become.   :-\

Yates dominated.

This video goes to show you just how big of a step backward bodybuilding has taken today. Those thin, cut, streamlined waist are pretty much nonexistent. Replaced by the bloated guts of todays pros. Sad times, indeed.

Yates owned this show.

And he was a dieted down 242 pounds that year. 1 year later he gained about 15 pounds and everyone else the following year had to up their game because of him.

Yeah. 93 was awesome. i still think the 96 GP was his best combo though.

Yeah. 93 was awesome. i still think the 96 GP was his best combo though.

Yates made Levrone look soft in 92, and 93 was the most dominant win in Mr. O history.

I think, could be wrong, that the 92-93 offseason was when the insulin shit started.

Well, he said he changed nothing from 92-93, he just dieted less.

He said he was so overly concerned about being shredded up until 92 that he always overdieted.

sad to see how effed up the current crop is in their pursuit of presenting the biggest, most bloated and distended body parts on stage. hardly a handful of pros personify what the golden era used to be.

cool vid, yates might not have had the prettiest build but he sure was big, grainy n sliced, deserving win imo, only thing i didnt like was when he was talking about american bodybuilders not training hard. i wish he woulda did a leg workout with platz n sang that tune after he was on the floor gasping for air, platz woulda showed him a thing or 2 about training hard

Awesome line up, nothing to share with the bloated oil tankers of today, totally different quality... Decisive win for Yates, probably the best Levrone ever looked with 1995, back a bit weak but big shredded legs were there... Benaziza truly a small freak...

Look at their faces. Sunken in cheeks, not double chins like today.

Never got the hype about Yates. Out of the Top 6 standing next to each other I would've had him in 6th lol

Ugliest structure of the Top 6, no legs, no arms. All back and calves and that's about it.

Why does Wayne Demelia look like such a creepy fawk???   and second on the sunken in faces of yesteryear compared to the fat double chin faces of today....wtf??? Insulin ruined everything!!

Demelia is holding that mic like a throbbing robot penis ready for insertion into his salivating mouth. What a queen

in this month's MD, Levrone said that at this particular show he felt so much like shit, he couldn't get a pump to save his life backstage or on stage.

needless to say, pump must mean jack shit cause he looked amazing

Admittedly one could say he looked a bit bit flat, probably overdieted, still his best conditioning and best appearance with 1995 Olympia...

I always felt Momo was the transitional bodybuilder which started the trend towards ever increasing midsections.

yeah his overall legs and back were ripped to shred even if he had kind of a lanky look to his physique.

I prefer the fuller looking but still ripped 1997 GP of his physique

Verry true... He was the first one to have that look to him. At the time it gave him a unique look like he had such a dense compact build.

New guys look to have more mass,... But the quality is just not the same. Lacks that dense, mature, dry quality.... Very much a balloon looking muscle quality.

while watching that vid, I felt like he was the only one with a borderline obvious gut. think the shorter you are the easier it is to distend the abdominal wall?

hard to judge by pics, id like to c all the olympia champs from larry scott on all up on the stage one night in their best form ever, that would b nice, im gonna work on a time machine and set it up ;D. id like to see how a shredded sergio would fair up against yates, and a grainy yates against a solid ronnie. 74 arnold next to 2006 jay cutler, also a grainy 92 yates against a 2006 jay. that would be the only real way to tell cause pics can be decieving n hard to judge 100% by, pics can pretty much tell alot but they dont tell the whole story
