Title: Challenge to Christian Boeving!!!!!!!
Post by: sarcasm on February 11, 2006, 01:03:33 PM
ok "big guy" you claim to incline press 405 for 12 so here's the challenge, you come to my gym and do a full range of motion barbell incline press with 405 and i'll even cut the reps in half to 6, we'll put the weights on the digital scale and if you do it i'll sign over the deed to my house, if you lose you don't owe me anything, how does that sound, are those massive 16 inch arms up to it? i'll even pay for the round trip flight.

he claims 405 for 12 and then he got insanely angry at me when i called him on it, he was literally pounding on his keyboard typing.

the funny thing is that on Cost of Redmption Coleman had a hard time with 405 for 7 on his own and 2 forced reps so he's saying that he can do 5 more reps with 120 lbs. less muscle on his body, bullshit.

Ronnie claimed 405 for 12 in some magazine a few years back.  It's believable because he's getting up there is age so maybe his strength is dropping a little.

this was also after Ronnie did 495 on the flat though, so that obviously sucked a bit out of him. I could easily believe 405 for 12 out of coleman

Ask BayGBM.  I heard the same thing.  On a side note I remember a video posted here a while back with Dennis James doing inclines with 405 and he got 8 or 10.

Smith Machine is a different story and you don't know if he uses full range of motion or what.  Also he probably does that weight at a higher weight and body fat.  At 6' 1" he's got a big frame.

If the smith machine has a cable on it and the bar floats, 4 plates on each side = about 365 so who knows and it's controlled weight too. That's not a big press for 12

Not talking about growth, talking about strength. Machines are great for bodybuilding. I love a machine preacher curl. Haven't done a leg extension in almost 51/2 years.

Coach, leg extensions any good for functional or hypertrophy purposes? I've always thought of them as a useless exercise.

Yep, good for bodybuilding but on a functional scale of 1-10 its around a 1-2. Not even used in rehab anymore. Ok, maybe by some.
