Good way to establish a hateful relationship between parent and child, devoid of respect which will just keep the cycle of inner city ignorance going.  Instead of addressing the problem, the parent exacerbates it further and nothing again gets accomplished.  And on it continues.

I have a feeling "guy gone learn" will work it's way into my vocab

So far today I've said it to my mailman, the cashier at Chipotle, and the girl at the front desk of my gym.

So far today I've had that said to me by my neighbor, the garbage man and a kid riding by on a bike.

Aside from the poor grammar that's damn strong parenting! Parents need to put kids in their place. Too many parents want to be "cool" or new age. Horse shit - I was stern and my children are so extremely close to me and have thanked me too many times to count. They will be even more successful than me. I am certain that I made mistakes - but who is perfect. My father taught me to be strong and I tried to pass that on. I remember one time after a football game my pop came to the field to congratulate me and hugged me - he senses that I was embarrassed to hug him back and sternly told me "you never are afraid to show love to your family - anyone that thinks it makes you weak and says so - you kick their ass and teach them". When I was bad and fought or got into trouble my father was harsh - but if he knew I was righteous he was supportive. This made the Corps and my other career possible. After leaving all that it's made business easier.

There is a difference between being stern and humiliating your child. You and your father sound stern, but loving and caring. My bet is that this dad is neither. Pure humiliation of your child is not strong parenting, nor will it make your child successful.

The father put this little shit in his place, look at the face on him. He now knows he's not as bad ass as he thought he was, and most importantly knows that next time he fucks up there WILL be repercussions.

That's not true at all. There are many kids who receive humiliation from their parents, either through physical and/or emotional abuse. Just look at all the kids in ghettos who turn out to be drug addicts or criminals. If that sort of parenting worked, they would not be in their position they are in. But they are. Obviously those parenting tactics are not working.

I am sure these upstanding citizens received parenting that consisted of harshness and humiliation. Looks like they turned out just fine.  :-\ :-\

In the UK the old boarding schools dished out some bare bum whippings regularly for minor misbehaviour. Eton College where most prominent brits come from included....up until recent years.

Many kids grow up idolizing and dressing up like certain ball players. This young man wanted to look like the manager.

And those sort of whippings may lead to upstanding citizens or it may lead to this.

Any person who does that to their child does not deserve children.

So none.

It's not something I would do to one of my kids. Mostly because is hasn't been necessary. Also, I don't see that it is particularly bad either. We don't know what the kid did or how far off the rails he was going.

We also don't know how long this punishment lasted - whether the kid was forced to go out like that for weeks or if the parents then shaved off the rest of his hair after it actually sunk in. could be the kid just went to school the next day sporting a cool shaved head.

This is a non-violent form of punishment. It is not a beating. It certainly IS something the kid would not want to happen again. Maybe the parents have been trying time-outs but the kids just not been reacting to them the way many kids do.

It's easy to judge other parents. Especially easy for those people that don't have children. At the end of the day, if other avenues have been explored, other forms of non-violent punishment are not working, you do actually have to use your imagination to figure out just what it will take to get a child to back down WITHOUT hitting them.

Not that I'm totally against smacking kids - just that for various practical reasons, it's a tougher form of punishment to implement than something that pisses them off severely.

He's a POS father.
Degrading your child isn't good parenting.

The father is probably your typical ghetto trash who does not even attempt to spell properly yet he wonders why his son isn't doing well in school?
