Coach, if he'd have had the inner drive, could he have been on Manning's level?

I don't know. My feeling is the truly great QB's have an entirely different mindset when it comes to success. I put Manning at the top or near the top of that list. I really believe that type of mindset overcomes skill at that level. In a team setting you see it with Seattle with what Carroll has instilled in his players.

Personally, Ryan definitely had the skill but would have never have had that mindset.

Apparently the Colts had wanted Leaf the entire time right up until a day or two before the draft where they brought him in for a last interview and realized he was a total headcase and decided to switch to Manning.  Rest is history.

He had the physical tools but not the football IQ. In the NFL, you gotta be able to read defenses at a high level; otherwise, you'll throw the ball to opposing players at too great of a frequency.

Should have spent more time praying for his corrupt soul, and less time squatting.

It is sad how so many choose to destroy their own lives, and the lives of others, for drugs.
