Title: Bought a new 40in TV to watch the Mr Olympia
Post by: Vince G, CSN MFT on September 19, 2014, 06:29:27 PM
I know its not impressing anyone but this is actually the very first HD TV I've even bought or used.  Never had the money until now to buy one.  Got my NPC trophies next to on the bookcase to make it a bodybuilding related thread.  Thing only weighs 12 fucking pounds....insane shit.

Tommorrow, I may open up a chat room on Anabolic Mayhem to discuss the event live....honestly I just want to chill out this weekend, been working up a storm processing orders

Gotta organize the wiring and add another surge protector but it looks good.  Takes up the whole side of my TV stand but doesn't look tacky

I put the others back in my office.  They are shitty looking ones anyway.  The Mountaineer Trophy is my best one I've gotten....nice heavy bronze and not some cheap plastic triangle....If I wanted to see triangles, I'd go to a gay bar.

Congrats on the purchase!  My first plasma/flat screen was in 2006 when they had Just become popular.
Bought some off-brand 42" Plasma at SAMs club for.........$1,350 !!

You can get a TV like yours for under $400 now,  and lightweight too like you said.  Lightweight!

Wrong...most of my money goes to a savings and retirement account.  I have literamtlly no debts whatsoever...credit cards, no car payments, etc.  Everything I own is paid in full.

I debated a lot about getting the TV because I'm stingy on making what I consider an unnecessary purchase but I made a very rare exception because of the amount of money I'd save on my electric bills even though I average about 35 dollars a month along with the price of the TV.

that makes so much sense. I love when you write sentences so well. And even better, when you make good posts. My great grandma has been saving a bottle of prosecco to pop the day you do either. she bought it when she was 11. she died like i don't know. a bunch of years ago. gripping that bottle of prosecco. tears of blood literally streaming from her face

because in FIVE CENTURIES you have not made ONE GOOD POST let alone wrote a readable sentence

and you're a leather skin pumpkin head of undeterminable age (not a compliment) who is a full foot shorter than me and congratulations on your shoes. you own shoes. that's big for a troglodyte. you won the trog' pulitzer for that achievement.

And the real joke here is the fact, that most of the Finns are living in to relative small apartments, compared for example to USA. Still, I have seen 100" TV in the 25 m˛ living room. When TV is about twice as big as your living room window, it look kind of ridiculous  ;D

So what? I've never owned a credit card, loans or store card in my life. I've NEVER had any debts, never mind right now at age 34. The idea of buying something on loan I don't really own seemed at idiotic to me at 14 as it does at 34 today. So it may come as a surprise to you in today's consumer feeding frenzy, but there's still some of us out there that laugh at dumb people buying shit they can't afford and work sensibly with money.

But good God man, you're touching 40 and can only afford a HD TV now  ???

Most Americans are consumer whores, wildly in-debt, pay for their stuff on credit w/ terms, and have little-to-no-savings.

So, despite Vince's TV being sorta pathetic, he's ahead of most people.  He just needs to get his income up a bit.

Moving out of Sylva soon....nothing left here for me.  It is a nice town with very low crime but there's hardly anything to do around here and the job market is quite shitty.  Debating on Orlando, FL, Charlotte, or back home to Asheville.

I work hard on all my websites so it shows.  I intend to do a number of updates very soon on Anabolic Mayhem...may even put up a new design possibly.  We'll see

it's well worth the money.

i just noticed in the photo no cable box so, look into it! it's way better than cable and cheapeer too by a MILE

I have Netflix as well.  I use a Roku box.  I also had Livestream on the Roku so I'm watching the Olympia in style.  BTW, you should check out Golgo 13.  Its subtitled but one the better anime shows around.  Don't Stand Behind Him If You Value Your Life.

Honestly, if you don't have a booth then no one is going to give a shit about your Willie Wonka Oompa Loompa Staff.

He wasn't bragging imo. He was happy because he bought a TV and, just as a lot of people do when they're happy, he wanted to share it. The only one that's bragging is you.

I cant imagine why you'd want TVs in every single room btw. How much TV do you watch? Did you pay for all of them? ???
calm down onion, I was just fucking with him

Anytime an American, in this day and age, goes about budgeting and saving up for a purchase...that shit should be congratulated.  This whole fiat currency ponzi scheme with the Federal reserve would have come down decades ago if had not been for the creation of the 'credit card'.  It's broken a strong and industrious people and turned them into serfs.

Wasn't into traveling, relationship ending, etc....had to get my life back together and quite frankly there was no reason to be there honestly.

I thought you and Vissy ended it a while back, or is this someone else?

I needed new socks....what's the big deal

I need new feet. Mine sweat like a bitch, then I will need less socks/washing.

How much was TV? I have a 48inch HD tv with lots of cool features, got it two years ago only cost €317 with discount for company I was working for (back office for electronics wholesaler).

If you want to really take advantage of a good HD TV I have one bit of advice: Use the USB port. Charge phone watching TV, watch movies or listen to music through port (I just DL movies/TV programs now and watch on TV), you can even use it for photo slideshows if having a party.

On a side note, I hope 4k TV doesn't take off (or 8k). 1080p is max anyone needs (4k means pixels indistinguishable from 22" away but who watches TV that close?) Netflix accounts for 34% of internet traffic - 1 min of 4k is 5gb or something - it's a fucking waste. Hope it goes the way of 3d TV.

Dumped 3 flat screen TV in the last 6 years, simply not worthy to fix.
Shit cheap.
I see more & more flat TV's trashed on local rubbish collection day.
Good old wooden box models never ever died.
I am not too impress with this new 'banana shape' 1 (but girlfriend  :))
Whats next now after 80' size monitor ?, perhaps 100 inches  :P

When I was 12 in 1996 I went to a friend's house for first time. Mansion on the shore of one of the most expensive places in ireland. His dad had a 100 inch tv that could show four different channels in 4 squares simultaneously. I went to school and uni with so many obscenely wealthy people that you don't realise it at that age.

First off I'm 6ft2 240, you'd have to stand on a midget to see eye to eye.

Second, I was clearly taking the piss out of Vince.

Third,  in a Century 21 survey, homes lose about 20% of their value if they don't have THIS.  What is it?

If you make so much money then why didn't you buy a booth???  Your staff was likely your 7th or 8th wife walking around the expo passing out business cards in violation of the rules.

Because paying $2200 for a booth to represent a gym that's 275 miles away doesn't make sense now does it, genius? When the expo is here in LA then it'll make more sense. Do you still charge $3000 for business "advice"? BTW, that picture. Did you take it outside? Because it's either blurry or your tricep is flapping in the wind.

Coach owns like 2-3 homes, 2-3 cars, and has a hot wife. And both homes, from what I understand, are in expensive areas.

Goodrum lives in a basement and just purchased a 40 inch flat screen television, which he views as an accomplishment.

Goodrum only wishes he had coaches gym.

. The only debt I have are my two homes one of which should be paid off by next year and a boat payment. I don't buy anything I can't pay for and can probably comfortably retire in 3-5 years. But I've always said that no matter how much I have I would never retire. I'm not rich but my family is comfortable. We live VERY modestly.

Idle commentary pending the crowning of Branch as the Champ†: two homes and a boat isn't "Lifestyles on the Rich and Famous" but it doesn't quite qualify as "VERY modestly."
