He did start the downward spiral I think, however its the judges and the IFBB that reward the physiques.
They have the power to get it back to being about aesthetics, balance and condition.

When HGH and Insulin became a big part of it.

Then they have to curb the size at all costs, insulin/gh usage, and ALL parties must be on board. Judges, supp companies, bodybuilders, schmoes (who many times are judges).

Unless they are using the men's physique/model to slowly push bodybuilding out of the limelight.

Yes, i blame the judges and IFBB much more than the bodybuilders... Bodybuilders just did what needed to compete for the title...

I think that may be true
Its too much to ask the current crop of guys to downsize, its easier to let the freak show carry on and die.
The new Physique section will overtake bodybuilding to be the breadwinner.

Bodybuilders will be like the out of shape guest poser at the end of the night, only the die hard fans will hang on, everyone else goes home after their class.

That's pretty much how the women's side is going. Although in 10 years, "physique" will look like Iris Kyle again and it'll wither and die with another upstart "aesthetic" division ready to move in.

It is The Way of the Thong.

You are correct , it's all about money ,
Bob Paris genetics (proportions /aesthetics ) are 1 in a million ,when you look at him you say ,why even bother ,he's perfect , I will never look like that, it discourage a lot of people from competing .
When you see Branch Warren winning the Arnold , people  say fuck  anyone can do this shit , all I have to do  is  just  up the dosage ,  train like a retard  and one day I can be a Champion too

Your countryman, Dorian Yates.

Mohammed Benaziza started it.  Yates took it to new levels. The rest simply followed.

Benaziza was about conditioning. That is how he beat Dorian. Dorian brought the SIZE and Conditioning. When Dorian showed up at 257, sliced and detailed, that was when it all started.
Granted Haney was a taller dude and was 255, He still had that 80s look. Dorian brought the chemical game up to actual warfare.

It is The Way of the Thong.
With women, it started with the "fitness Olympia" back in the 90s. Women who used to be gymnasts and cheerleaders (in fact Lenda Murray used to be a cheerleader). They used to do routines, consisting handstands, flips and all of that. Mia Finnegan ring a bell? Then they introduced Figure for the women who couldn't do all the athletic stuff (I forgot that black figure competitor who had the flexible back). Then I think next was bikini.
One after the other, the women got progressively bigger, muscular, and ripped. In fact, DLB is more muscular than Rachel Mclish or most of the female bodybuilders from the 80s.

And I believe that this is formula that they will use for the men's physique/model.

Look at the benefits---more competitors in those classes, meaning more money from entrance fees, and ticket sales, plus the guys all have model faces, which the women like. What the women like is more acceptable, and what many keep asking on here. Eventually, yes they will get bigger and push the bodybuilders to the side, until they themselves get too big.

Fans and getbiggers  need to realize that they are at fault, too.

You know  classic bodybuilding is dead  when you hear stupid shit like this :

''Brian Buchanan waist is too small'',
''Chris Cormier is too symmetrical , his body is boring, nothing stands out"
''How can Phil be Mr Olympia, he  is getting dwarfed by  Ryan Kenelly''

Are we trending bigger still? The 5'8" 300+ pounds at 4% bf? The collective civilian public already gets queasy looking at Kai, imagine the open vomiting if Kai added 40 more pounds through better chemistry.

The only good part is that they drive the envelope for "juicers" over the moon, so that us that are "fake natty" are more believable.
