I realize that this topic is not exactly a shocking revelation. But I always did them standing. They worked fine.
I switched to doing them seated 3 weeks ago. I gotta say, going a bit lighter while seated seems to be a bit better.
-
If your back is flat against the back during seating, it takes the swinging out, which is probably why youre going lighter.
I alternate each week between sitting and standing.
-
They're both good, seated lets you get a little bit more ROM at the bottom. Standing lets you squeeze out a couple more reps when your muscle is fried.
I think you'd find excellent results by performing your raises standing, but with lighter weights & stricter form
-
both.
I go very heavy with standing... 40, 50, 60's for 15 15 12.
25's for 20 sitting.
-
Sitting, always with light weights.
-
standing.
3 different ways.
also, nextt time you do seated press do it on a flat bench with your back not supported. you'll find you'll actively recruit the delts much more than you typically would with you would with back supported. there's no cheating. it's all delt.
-
Both, but the incline version is rather my favorite.
-
Standing. I've taken to doing most things that can be done standing, exclusively standing. I find my form stays tighter, and the old mind/muscle connection is better for me.
-
Standing.
I do 6 ways seated though.
-
Standing but I should mix it up and do some seated.
-
I perform them whilst sitting down.......on the shitter. I'm a multi-tasker.
-
It s lik dis sometimes yet sittin some time ya stand in
nammmmmmmm sayyyy ?
-
Standing and one arm at a time
-
Some gays. I do dem laying down vietNam sayn?
-
I've found seated to be the best with a bit lighter weights.
If I'm standing its more tempting to swing the weights a bit.
-
Seated then when i reach failure i get up and bang a few more reps
that being said, cable laterals are much superior
-
I like these in addition to standing or seated.
-
I use a rubber band
-
how would it even be possible to use them standing in the machine ???
-
both.

What kind of facial expressions should I be making during Dumbell side raises?
-
I like doing them lying down in bed.

Yet i'm sure his standing dumbbell press weight is lacking
They are only delt exercise that matters.
-
I attribute most of my overall size, which is impressive, to seated dumbbell side raises.
-
I prefer seated side raises.
In Arnold's Encyclopaedia he said he used to keep a dumbbell under his bed, then do some rear-delt side raises from the end of the bed when he woke up.

x2!!!

cable laterals are outstanding!!
-
Seated, standing, cables I rotate all of it.
-
I find it best to rotate every few minutes! ;D
-
I alternate every few weeks. Hold the dumbbells with the weight pressed to my pinky so my wrists are forced to twist forward a little when my arms are up and parallel to the ground.
-
Standing, 2 arms at a time, done pretty strict.
8 reps minimum, 12-15 reps more common.
Done after seated presses and bentover chest-supported laterals.
I've had shoulder issues that make me a little cautious - usually use no more than 35-40's for these.
