Unemployment down to 5.9% - great news for all Americans, so let's clap for the excellent job President Obama has done. :)
Now if we can all put our heads together and figure out how to get Soul Crusher a job. :(

Unemployment rate falls below 6%
NEW YORK (CNNMoney)
The nation's unemployment rate fell below 6% in September for the first time in six years.
The rate came in at 5.9%, while employers added 248,000 jobs last month.
The unemployment rate fell last month because more people were getting jobs, not because they were dropping out of the labor force as they have at times during the economic recovery. The number of people in the workforce was essentially unchanged.
Jobs growth was strong in professional and business services, particularly in employment services and consulting. The retail and health care sectors, which have been a powerhouse throughout the recovery, also gained. Construction added 16,000 jobs.
Upward Trek for U.S. Job Creation Continues in September
Job Creation Index at six-year high despite small drop in government hiring
by Justin McCarthy
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Gallup's U.S. Job Creation Index reached a six-year high of +30 in September. This is up from twin readings of +28 in July and August.

historically, this will be viewed as a huge victories. Sure, we CTers will have our own theories behind it. But it's tough to argue that drop.
People vote for a rpeub president when things are good. I can easily see a repub winning in 2016 if the economy is good. More rich folks, so they vote repub.

LMFAO. F Obama

I say we go 3 terms for our Fuhrer!!

Forget the fact that the labor force participation rate is higher than it's ever been, or the fact that wages have stagnated and not moved, or the fact that the U6 which is a much more true definition of unemployment is still nearly 12%.
So yea, congratulate Obama for not doing a damn thing.

1. As for your 5.9%...you forget to mention that there's over 92 NINETY TWO MILLION out of the work force. The effective UE would ultimately be about 11-12%. So fuck you. Thats like saying all the money that McDonalds takes in before you count your drawer out is all profit.
and..
2. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/wp/2014/09/15/obamas-claim-that-businesses-are-in-the-longest-uninterrupted-stretch-of-job-creation/
3. Just to add, people are complaining that they are not making enough...these are low paying part time jobs a a whole.
4. More people on foodstamps (or in your case, an EBT) than ever before.
Hope this helps a little, chuckles. But I seriously doubt it. He's been in office for over 6 years, it took this long to see a change? Shoot yourself. Putting more people on assistance is NOT a job.

coach, you are right about everything here.
however, since history is written by the winners, and mccain/romney were not winners in their elections, it will go down in history that obama rescued america from bush 10% UE and brought it back down. It'll probably be 3.9% by the time he leaves office. Will it be total bullshit? of course. But when a party picks a weak candidate, this is what happens - they give the dems a chance to write history.
Hopefully, in 2016, it'll be a CONSISTENT conservative voice like Cruz. Not a soft-ass RINO like Christie. Or it'll be president Warren writing history :(

You are unaware of how percentages work aren't you?
Please tell me about it ::)
The U.S. Labor Department said Friday that the unemployment rate was 5.9 percent in September—but does that rate tell the real story?
Read MoreUS jobs data glitter may not be gold
A number of economists look past the "main" unemployment rate to a different figure the Bureau of Labor Statistics calls "U-6," which it defines as "total unemployed, plus all marginally attached workers plus total employed part time for economic reasons, as a percent of all civilian labor force plus all marginally attached workers."
In other words, the unemployed, the underemployed and the discouraged—a rate that still remains high.
The U-6 rate fell in September to 11.8 percent, the first time it was below 12% since October 2008.
While it is down 180 basis points over the last year, the trend has been somewhat more volatile than in the main unemployment rate, which steadily declined.

Here's something else I will predict. UE will go down even further during the holidays and I bet our resident golf pro will take credit for that as well. Why will it go down? (I'm explaining to my liberal counterparts because the rest of the world understands this) because business hire more during the holiday season...wow, what a shocker. Dumb asses.

How exactly did Obama create jobs?
-
And the housing market is still in the tank. More people are working part time with overall wages dropping.

Obama Outperforms Reagan On Jobs, Growth And Investing
The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) today issued America’s latest jobs report covering August. And it’s a disappointment. The economy created an additional 142,000 jobs last month. After six consecutive months over 200,000, most pundits expected the string to continue, including ADP which just yesterday said 204,000 jobs were created in August.
One month variation does not change a trend
Even though the plus-200,000 monthly string was broken (unless revised upward at a future date,) unemployment did continue to decline and is now reported at only 6.1% [as of September 5th, 2014]. Jobless claims were just over 300,000; lowest since 2007. Despite the lower than expected August jobs number, America will create about 2.5 million new jobs in 2014.
And that is great news.
Back in May, 2013 (15 months ago) the Dow was out of its recession doldrums and hitting new highs. I asked readers if Obama could, economically, be the best modern President? Through discussion of that question, the number one issue raised by readers was whether the stock market was a good economic barometer for judging “best.” Many complained that the measure they were watching was jobs – and that too many people were still looking for work.
To put this week’s jobs report in economic perspective I reached out to Bob Deitrick, CEO of Polaris Financial Partners and author of Bulls, Bears and the Ballot Box (which I profiled in October, 2012 just before the election) for some explanation. Since then Polaris’ investor newsletters have consistently been the best predictor of economic performance. Better than all the major investment houses.
This is the best private sector jobs creation performance in American history
(http://blogs-images.forbes.com/adamhartung/files/2014/10/unemployment-reagan-v-obama.jpg)
Bob Deitrick: ”President Reagan has long been considered the best modern economic President. So we compared his performance dealing with the oil-induced recession of the 1980s with that of President Obama and his performance during this ‘Great Recession.’
“As this unemployment chart shows, President Obama’s job creation kept unemployment from peaking at as high a level as President Reagan, and promoted people into the workforce faster than President Reagan.
“President Obama has achieved a 6.1% unemployment rate in his sixth year, fully one year faster than President Reagan did. At this point in his presidency, President Reagan was still struggling with 7.1% unemployment, and he did not reach into the mid-low 6% range for another full year. So, despite today’s number [again, as of September 5, 2014], the Obama administration has still done considerably better at job creating and reducing unemployment than did the Reagan administration.
“We forecast unemployment will fall to around 5.4% by summer, 2015. A rate President Reagan was unable to achieve during his two terms.”

you said obama created jobs, what jobs did obama create?
and for what its worth the economy is where it is despite of obama not because of him...

I guess at the end of the day what AD is saying is that all of that legislation that the Republicans didn't allow the Obama administration to pass turned out to be the right thing to do as unemployment has gone down so drastically since Obama took office.
If the Republicans have stood in the way of everything Obama has tried to do, and everything has turned out so well, aren't the Republicans the ones who are responsible for this turnaround?
see? I can play this game too. anyone who says that the economy is better right now has their head up their ass.

when something points towards the economy being good, I hear them say "so there! look how well the Obama administration is performing!"
meanwhile I was forced off of my health care insurance because my premiums and my employees premiums went up by over 60% and i'm forced to go to the exchange to look for something else for myself and for them. and I don't qualify for ANY credits and the exchange points me towards a Blue Cross Blue Shield plan that costs just as much as my old Blue Cross Blue Shield plan but is a much worse plan. I'm going through a broker now to see if there's anything i'm missing but it doesn't look good. remember when he said, we won't have to change our plan? I guess no we don't HAVE TO. but he's going to put mandates on all those plans forcing Blue Cross to charge me over 60% more. sorry, but I see that as forcing me to the exchange. anyone who doesn't see it that way is a fucking idiot............or a cheerleader.
so forgive me if I don't share your fucking enthusiasm about this unemployment number.
It's funny every time I tell one of my liberal friends all the problems i'm having they simply do not want to hear it and give me a blanket, "you must be doing something wrong." they just don't want to hear how this stuff actually plays out in the real world. absolute denial. it's honestly sad to see so many people brainwashed.
that's life in the real fucking world asshole. and you're still sitting there cheerleading for a guy you'll never meet.

No love for Obamacare at all, but how is Blue Cross being forced to go up 60%
Seems to me that the real issue is that this deal FORCED people to have insurance, and when people are forced to go to a company for anything, then that company has you by the balls and can charge whatever you want.
It's complete crap.
I'm not sure what "requirements" would cause them to go up 60% to be honest... sounds like an excuse to jack you.
That said, they wouldn't be allowed to just "jack you" if it wasn't for what Obamacare has done.

the mandates placed on them by Obamacare is why they have to charge more. it's really very simple. our costs are going up so they can pay for the people who weren't paying for it before. WE ARE PAYING FOR THEM through increased premiums.
my rep from BCBS called us a year ago and told us that the mandates had been extended until December 2014. but at that time our rates were going up by this amount. I didn't really believe it until I got the actual paperwork that showed what my new premium amount was going to be. keep in mind that a big part of that 60% is one of our older partners premiums more than doubling. but he was just using his as supplemental insurance so he's just dropping his plan altogether. personally, mine went up about 35% and I can't afford the plan I was on anymore. so I went to the exchange and looked at what was available. you fill out this long ass information sheet and they give you plan options. since I work and make a decent enough salary I don't get any deal on anything so most of my options were still BCBS plans.
to be honest I don't understand it all either. I just know what I was paying, what I have to pay now, and the options that I see available to me now. and it's awful. i'm really hoping that i'm missing something so I contacted a client of mine that's a health insurance broker. she's going to take a look at my options for me. part of me thinks that it can't be this bad and i'm doing something wrong here. i'm honestly hoping my liberal friends are right and I am wrong about this. this is definitely a debate I want to lose.
