Title: J. D. Salinger - True GetBigger
Post by: AmonRa on October 09, 2014, 06:28:30 AM
J. D. Salinger lived most of his life thanks to one book - The Catcher in the Rye.

So, you write one book and you're set for life. The dream of every getbigger. Well, at least the dream of getbigger that can write.

My first cover-to-cover read in high school. Assigned, of course, but I enjoyed it so much, started reading for fun ever since. That was the one.

Revisiting it later is quite different, though. Holden is totally unrelatable and frustrating to an adult.

Of course, because they have to get jobs and whatnot. Or, we can off ourselves very young and remain perfect forever like his little bro. Seems we all chose the former. What are ya gonna do?

Whenever a chick on an ok line dating site says that's her favorite book, avoid her because it means she's an airhead who hasn't read a book since high school. Unless just looking to hit.

Perhaps its true, but A LOT of women on their profile say it. Either I am just happening to come across a lot of women who love to travel or its a cliche hobby to state on a dating profile.

What I don't get is why 50% have "Timing is Everything" as their "headline".

What does it mean ???

So we all hate being called a moron, kind of a catch 22 said the badger to the lion that chased his own shadow around the sun dial.

My other favorite one is "I'll try almost anything once!" which is code for "into lewd sex-acts".

He is mad overrated. Like everything mainstream. I don't like the Catcher Either. It's like GodFAther. They all say it's good but it's not that good.

Godfather 1 is a masterpiece of a movie imho.  I've never understood why 2 gets so much love though.  To me it's nowhere near as good as the first one.

Having watched them back to back a few months ago, I gotta agree. 1 is a much more polished and enjoyable film.

2 gets the love because it's simply a perfect movie. 1, however, is superior because it is lovingly made, almost opera-like. Truly magestic.

what do you do when a woman says on her dating profile that she loves Ironmeister photoshops, anabolichalo posts, farting on the couch, mixing protein shakes and looking at BFTO videos?

Me too, only my buddy told me to read it, and then it was assigned about a year later. Started my appreciation for reading as a teenager.

That's when I read it too , cover to cover, in HS English class.

I honestly related to the character known as " Stradalater (sp?)" the jock tennis player who Holden despised.

I loved the description of gf Jane wearing the little skating skirt at the rink

Point blank, it means she's a slave to her hungry vag during ovulation and is humping anything with a hardon so you should hit her up when she's eggy if you don't mind a bit of a milkshake.

Not to spoil the romance or anything.

Most women's profiles on dating sites are boring as all hell to be honest.  99% are exactly the same "I like concerts, traveling, wine-tasting, sushi, my dog, hmm message me if you want to know more."
