Title: For The Protein, Would You?
Post by: Parker on October 10, 2014, 06:43:14 PM
Eat these? They are very high in protein. Say you go Survivorman and need some quick energy.
Of course if you have seafood allergies, you can't.
What does Marty say on the heme-iron of these?

As a cooked grub, yes. As a raw grub, no.

except the lobster's meat is in the tail and claws, the grubs are all "guts"...
I gather cooking it you would hear a lot of popping. Unless you broil it...

I dont think I could ever eat that, but in a situation where it means survival and you're starving.... anything is possible.

I mean here's the thing parker - aren't ALL animals high in protein?
Because if it's between that and any non-primate vegetarian mammal, I'm going mammal. Same reason I don't eat lobster or tilapia. Fucking scavengers and trash feeders!

Yeah, but some are higher than others. Grubs are supposedly nature's original "energy bars" (protein bars?). I remember watching some survivor show where they were saying that not to eat rabbits (snowshoe hares) a whole lot, because of "protein poisoning"

yeeeeeah, but if we're at the Airplane/Survivor/Post-apocalyptic part of the human experience, then who gives a shit about protein intake? What am I, trying to keep my quads from shrinking? Nope, just trying to survive, so I'd eat whatever's available. Like would I rather eat it than die? Sure. But would I rather go lower on the food chain and stick to grain, legumes, and vegetables? Yes. It's a more socio-politically responsible decision overall, when starvation becomes a factor.
Fortunately I live in a first-world country and am well-employed, so...I'll stick to my privileged little egg-whites-in-cartons-and-grass-fed-beef existence haha.
