The mighty power of photoshop... His midsection looks horrible, expanding in front and through the sides...

Lol, the guy at the side of Ronnie is a big guy, he looks like Gary Coleman there FFS. ;D
-
Looks 3-4 weeks out. What an athlete!
-
The winner of the worst Mr. Olympia contest. He is fortunate he wasn't competing 20 years ago. On the other hand, perhaps with those cycles and training/dieting protocols he would have looked better.
BB's he couldn't beat: Haney,Yates, Samir, Dillet, Nasser, Ray, Levrone, Martinez, Taylor, Cormier, and perhaps Preist, Paris, Benfenatto, Labrada, Benaziza.
Sorry for any misspelling and if I omitted anyone

Where did his abs go?
They didn't get word that they had to show up. Next year they better show up in time.
-
for the greatest mr o ever, he looks like shit

Phil has began to regress. His waist and gut is getting out of control.
everyone is admitting this now. And it was inevitable. He was running Cutler-level stacks from a very young age. It happens to everyone else. It took him longer due to the narrow frame... but it's been ten years now that Phil's been a pro.
I still stand by my prediction that Phil Heath will retire after winning the O next year. I'm convinced he's done competing, and we'll never see him competing from 2016 on.

I agree

I think men's BB is going away, like women's. Physique is taking over, sadly. The men's BB look horrible, to much reliance on chemicals with bodies mot attainable and unappealing to most avid lifters and competitors.
The judges ruined the "sport"by rewarding these distorted competitors with victories.
-

isnt that the guy with the big cranium who is always helping ronnie out with the weights in all his dvds?
-
I agree
There is no question that Phil Heath will be back next year to defend his title. He wants that 5th one.
Afterwards, it is anyone's guess. But Phil will not let anyone beat him next year either.
I have a theory that Phil Heath is quietly planning to RETIRE following a WIN at the 2015 Mr. Olympia Contest.
Let me lay out why I think this is the case:
Company change)
Phil took a nice payday and walked away from a steady contract. The move shocked many, but would make sense if he only planned to compete for one more year. The steady check would go away anyway - but locking in a nice % of your own company would be a smart move if you planned on doing that full-time, starting in a year.
Aging physique)
His body is showing signs of age/expansion in the BBing era now... it's just science, not a knock on Phil. Midsection growing, arms shrinking a bit. It happens. 2011 may have been the best Phil we'll see.
Legacy)
Phil is a huge Michael Jordan fan... No doubt, he reveled in the TWO times Jordan went out on top... then came back past his time for dismal Wizards career. Most huge MJ fans wish he had left on top. Phil will never go on that stage if he's getting bested by 5 or 6 guys. He'll retire first. And comparing 2014 to 2011, he has declined, that's not a knock, that's just the effects of BBing lifestyle.
Health)
Phil's a smart guy. He knows BBing is a dangerous sport at the top levels, and he's almost 35 and a family man. He's not a single rock star, willing to ride his body til the wheels fall off. A decade at the highest level of BBing "supp" use - smart man starts to back off soon.
They caught him)
Kai's right there. others are close. If Phil drops off 2%, he can easily lose on any night now. Phil isn't unbeatable. You can ask Iris Kyle if they'll give a retiring multi-champion a parting gift title. They will. Phil knows he will win in 2015 if he's off yet retiring on top. Does anyone here think, after seeing the 2014 show, that Phil is unbeatable in 2 years?
Forward-thinking)
Phil was a computer major in college. He's been on the right side of everything he's done in Bodybuilding. He arrived, did the right shows, crashed with Jay to learn the top level ropes, entered and won the right hows every year. Phil doesn't make mistakes. Phil doesn't do 'trial and error'. He's a bright dude, and in a sport as competitive and potentially dangerous as BBing, I think Phil's had his eyes on the Exit door, of what's next, since he entered bodybuilding. Winning the 5th title, retiring to lead his company to the top, it's the right move.
FIVE sounds right)
Strive for five. Five-time winner. Phil's Five Titles. 5X Olympia winner. Nice round number that puts him in the upper echelon of the sport, but also lets him retire at age 35 and able to keep his health, run a company for a decade or two, and maintain sustained income. Five time winner just sounds right.
So anyway, that's my guess. I have no 'inside information'. Just as a fan, looking at Phil's situation, legacy, position and trying to predict his mindset... and of course, Ron's sly comment above, seeing as Phil would give insiders like Ron the wink and the nod...
I think Phil Heath goes out on top and retires after winning the 2015 Mr. Olympia contest.

after winning
or 2nd place

Ramy got severely hosed, once again.
Maybe a bit softer, but you have to say something when a guy is around 300lbs.
-
no wonder this was one of the worst Mr O show in memory. they kept rewarding Bloated Toads with Throphies
-
-
when you see the vids from the late 90s early 2000 it really brings it home to you how far the sport has regressed,
-
nobody comes close
coleman #1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
its insane, in these 90s and early 2000s videos something magical happens when they flex...
look at the shawn ray video... he looks ripped when hes relaxed but when hes flexing its like an instant photoshop on his whole body... suddenly veins pop everywhere, striations dig through the skin from the inside... its insane. same with levrone and ronnie.
its such a unique look. phil looks like shit compared to that. completely inappropriate as mister olympia.
im a big ramy fan but he REALLY looks soft in that video... imagine ramy with a conditioning like shawn ray in that video above... he'd be the second ronnie...
-
I don't know what happened to bodybuilding but, it is in a sad state.
They all look horrible Phil kai Roelly wolf etc
90's bodybuilding shits on bodybuilding today
-
I'm a heath fan, but even I must admit he looks just terrible in the photo shoot. Arms look smaller, gut is huge, abs are non existent. Legs and back still look ok though.
I laughed a bit when the photographer kept saying "abs. Abs." and heath couldn't flex them any more, they just weren't there!

I think that if Phil, Kai, Roelly, Wolf, Rhoden were on what the 90s guys were on, that they'd look better than they do now. Remember, they still are the top guys, the cream rises to the top no matter what, it's just a different quality.

they would have to ramp up their workout intensity a few notches
-
I don't know what happened either, whether it's drugs, genetics, work ethic... Or everything alltogether. It is apparent that bodybuilding has regressed. Levrone, Ray and Coleman were all "huge", they had enormous muscle mass. They looked like comic book characters. Bodybuilders nowadays appear more like disfigured creatures from horrors. They looked like characters from Marvel comics or Dragon Ball now they look like they were from Alien vs Predator.
-

Out of all of them, Kai seems to have the "Ronnie Colemansque" workout intensity. I am a Phil Heath fan, but it seems like if he were to train with Shawn Ray back then, or even Flex, he'd be saying "No mas!" after 25-30 mins.
-
if he's going out next year then the cock suckers at IFBB are definitely going to hand him a retirement gift. mark my words.

I think people want him to retire.
-
He's not retiring , he's going to make a run at Ronnies/Haney's record. Who can stop him?

At this rate, his body wont hold up.he wont match or surpass their record.

Ramy looks great. Truly big. Powerful look. In contrast to the frail baloon-type look that is o so common.

Well, Ramy's got the late 90s-early 2000s Flex Wheeler balloon delts.

couldnt be further from the truth
winklaar has a powerful look, and so does JOJ and dexter

I don't have a problem with his delts. They look pretty hard and separated and in proportion to his torso. Fits in from the back and the front.
I think you can find "balloon" delts on most modern bb if you want to.

Probably why he started Gifted Nutrition. Good strategy if so.

wtf???? no abs prejudging....abs magically appear for finals then just as fast disappear the next day??? wtf is wrong with modern bodybuilding?? this physique is a total joke...his head is wider than his shoulders...IFBB is totally fucking retarded!!!

His abs and obliques are fucked.

I doubt it phil was a real college ball player while flex was battling ninjas and shawn couldn't make it as a running back after HS
