Title: Tesla P85D In Autopilot Mode
Post by: Lexus II on October 13, 2014, 03:45:19 PM
The P85D is a very impressive car!  It has 691 hp and goes 0-60 MPH in 3.2 seconds.  More importantly, it has an autopilot mode.

Here the P85D is in autopilot mode.

Either does most of the 50 states.  Republicans especially have been fighting it because they don`t think you should be able to buy directly from the manufacturer.  They want the dealer associations involved.  Fucking crooks.

If you look into it's not really the Repubs. It's the car dealerships which have a very powerful lobby. Direct sales means you cut out the middleman---the sales/dealers. And they don't want that. They don't want GM,Ford, Chrysler/Fiat to follow.

And who's to say that Tesla in the future will not adopt the dealership format? Especially when their cars become second and third hand. Who is going to service them?

Telsa Store @ Washington Square in Portland, OR

Yes, a store. Not a dealership. I am all for the store.
There is also a problem of reliability and longevity. Teslas don't have that. But, what they have is loyal fanbase, even when their cars malfunction. You know who also has a loyal fanbase even when their vehicles malfunction? Land Rover/Range Rover.

What I'd like to see is the big companies challenge Tesla, and also go to the store route. This would effectively take the fangs out of one of the strongest lobbies in the US. And with this, hopefully a domino effect would happen where the oil lobby would take a drastic hit.

Republicans by and large support the middleman dealership association.

Tesla.  They have extended Lifetime Service to their cars.

http://venturebeat.com/2014/08/16/tesla-extends-warranty-on-model-s-because-electric-cars-are-fundamentally-more-reliable/

The new warranty increases coverage of the Model S’s drive unit to match the lifetime coverage on the battery pack.  “There is also no limit on the number of owners during the warranty period. Moreover, the warranty extension will apply retroactively to all Model S vehicles ever produced.”

The dealerships support the politicians.
Politicians don't give a damn, unless it benefits them. Look at all the money Al Gore made from his investments in going "Green". It was Green in his pockets.
If politicians did care then we'd be off of oil a long time ago and our infrastructure would reflect that.
It's just like how North Carolina is tobacco country...see where I am going with this?

I assumed they would only add 4WD, as a snow belt option, and that's it, but 700 hp.....that's spectacular! Would be interesting to know how much torque those 2 engines now deliver. The current P85 is quite fast, made a test drive two months ago, highly convincing. Not a perfect car, but they are working hard and improving rapidly what is already an excellent product

Schiphol Amsterdam airport has received the first 50 Model S cars from a total of 167 ordered for taxi use, mainly driving to and from Amsterdam:

Old rotten companies like GM and Ford are once again trying to block consumers from buying a Tesla by having corrupt politicians do the dirty work:

Yet when times are bad they know how to beg for taxpayer money.....
