‘Sweet’ dog recovering from brutal attack; required 1,000 stitches

http://kdvr.com/2014/10/13/sweet-dog-recovering-from-brutal-attack-required-1000-stitches/

“It almost looks like they tried to cut his head off, it’s ear-to-ear,” Kyrklund, who worked at the clinic that treated Spartacus, said. “He seriously almost looks like an autopsy victim.”

“This is a breed that terrifies people, but this breed, this particular dog, sat there and did not attack this person. It’s not the breed to be afraid of, it’s the people,” Kyrklund said. “Somebody tried to kill this dog and sliced this poor baby up. He’s sliced up like you wouldn’t believe.”

“He came up bleeding and torn up, but he never did anything but wag his tail once he realized he was safe,” she said. “He wants you to love him, he wants you to pet him, but there are so few spots you can do that.”

The LAPD’s Animal Cruelty Task Force was handling the investigation and was not available for comment, but Kyrklund said the attacker was believed to be a neighbor of Spartacus’s owners.

“I’m sure he has justification in his own sick mind for doing what he did. I’m sorry, but there’s no reason to do this,” she added.

Its not.  "They" don`t want to go to jail.

Police say their investigation is showing the attack was not animal cruelty but self-defense from a dog that was loose and in attack mode.

They say several independent witnesses have corroborated that account

I'm predicting, upon further review, those initial witnesses' accounts will be taken apart.

I bet all of the "independent" witnesses' phones have each others' numbers on them.  Friends or whatever.  I wonder if some were even there when it happened.  That much pain inflicted on the animal... curious how bad the human was injured.  Seems shady as fck he had to slash/beat a dog, IF he doesnt have a scratch on him.

I can't handle things like this. it's bad enough when I hear abt it. I honestly don't know what I'd do if I saw it. it'd be bad. that's all I know.

as for the 'attack mode' if that breed was in 'attack mode' you'd sure as shit not have time to try to saw it's head off let alone letting it close enough to you to be able to use a knife on it.

get well soon little buddy.

Exactly.  Its obvious there was no attack by the dog.  They are looking for the attacker.

animal abusing pieces of shit in a 'low income community', what a surprise  ::) owner no doubt is a piece of shit too who let it run wild

probably a group of Good Boys lured it over with food then attacked it with a shovel and knives

My Rotties bark at ghetto Hebrews and for good reason.

Spartacus was targeted, likely by his family's Los Angeles neighbor, because he is a pit bull
The 2-year-old dog managed to escape without broken bones or injury to his internal organs

Speechless that human beings could do such a cruel horrendous thing to an animal. Hope they find them and lock them up in jail where they belong. Animal cruelty needs to carry jail sentences.

It already does, genius. not in every case, obviously, but that goes for any crime.

You're right it wasn't the animal rescue group. I already wear glasses. Here is what the article linked in the original post says:

"Police say their investigation is showing the attack was not animal cruelty but self-defense from a dog that was loose and in attack mode.

They say several independent witnesses have corroborated that account, but didn't give more details or indicate who the person was who injured the dog."

Look, I am a dog lover. We have 4 dogs here. They are treated like spoiled children. If a snarling pit bull was coming after me, I probably wouldn't reach out to pet it.

I know it does but many get a slap on the wrist instead of actual jail time. That's how it is here in Australia.

Whats the point since its been quoted a million times.  If I erased it, it would just add further confusion to the matter.  I figure most people who click the thread will continue to read and see the updated information and discussion at hand.  Its really not that difficult.

So they'll spend hours to stitch it with 1000 stiches but have perfectly healthy dogs in cages that get put to sleep.  WTF?

The elevation of animals to the same level as humans is further evidence of the erosion of Western Civilization IMO. Most Christian tradition holds that animals are essentially soulless and placed here on earth to serve man.

What do those traditional Christians know? Dogs are the new children. Anyone who thinks they are soulless has never had a dog that they loved and who loved them back. Their love is unconditional. Haven't you heard?
