The economy was going good under George Bush. It only went bad when the Senate and the House went Democratic toward the final years of his Presidency. Then the Democratic Congress was in charge of spending and the banks.

I'm probably one of the more vocal on here with a good tract record of predicting how this asshole would have turned out right from the beginning right up until now. I predicted he would ruin this country and so far he's gone beyond anyone's expectations. Even most of the liberals on here that voted for him are seeing he's a fraud.

As America remembers the life of Ronald Reagan, it must never forget his shameful abdication of leadership in the fight against AIDS. History may ultimately judge his presidency by the thousands who have and will die of AIDS.
Following discovery of the first cases in 1981, it soon became clear a national health crisis was developing. But President Reagan's response was "halting and ineffective," according to his biographer Lou Cannon. Those infected initially with this mysterious disease -- all gay men -- found themselves targeted with an unprecedented level of mean-spirited hostility.
A significant source of Reagan's support came from the newly identified religious right and the Moral Majority, a political-action group founded by the Rev. Jerry Falwell. AIDS became the tool, and gay men the target, for the politics of fear, hate and discrimination. Falwell said "AIDS is the wrath of God upon homosexuals." Reagan's communications director Pat Buchanan argued that AIDS is "nature's revenge on gay men."
With each passing month, death and suffering increased at a frightening rate. Scientists, researchers and health care professionals at every level expressed the need for funding. The response of the Reagan administration was indifference.
By Feb. 1, 1983, 1,025 AIDS cases were reported, and at least 394 had died in the United States. Reagan said nothing. On April 23, 1984, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced 4,177 reported cases in America and 1,807 deaths. In San Francisco, the health department reported more than 500 cases. Again, Reagan said nothing. That same year, 1984, the Democratic National Convention convened in San Francisco. Hoping to focus attention on the need for AIDS research, education and treatment, more than 100,000 sympathizers marched from the Castro to Moscone Center.
With each diagnosis, the pain and suffering spread across America. Everyone seemed to now know someone infected with AIDS. At a White House state dinner, first lady Nancy Reagan expressed concern for a guest showing signs of significant weight loss. On July 25, 1985, the American Hospital in Paris announced that Rock Hudson had AIDS.
With AIDS finally out of the closet, activists such as Paul Boneberg, who in 1984 started Mobilization Against AIDS in San Francisco, begged President Reagan to say something now that he, like thousands of Americans, knew a person with AIDS. Writing in the Washington Post in late 1985, Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Los Angeles, stated: "It is surprising that the president could remain silent as 6,000 Americans died, that he could fail to acknowledge the epidemic's existence. Perhaps his staff felt he had to, since many of his New Right supporters have raised money by campaigning against homosexuals."
Reagan would ultimately address the issue of AIDS while president. His remarks came May 31, 1987 (near the end of his second term), at the Third International Conference on AIDS in Washington. When he spoke, 36,058 Americans had been diagnosed with AIDS and 20,849 had died. The disease had spread to 113 countries, with more than 50,000 cases.
As millions eulogize Reagan this week, the tragedy lies in what he might have done. Today, the World Health Organization estimates that more than 40 million people are living with HIV worldwide. An estimated 5 million people were newly infected and 3 million people died of AIDS in 2003 alone.
Reagan could have chosen to end the homophobic rhetoric that flowed from so many in his administration. Dr. C. Everett Koop, Reagan's surgeon general, has said that because of "intradepartmental politics" he was cut out of all AIDS discussions for the first five years of the Reagan administration. The reason, he explained, was "because transmission of AIDS was understood to be primarily in the homosexual population and in those who abused intravenous drugs." The president's advisers, Koop said, "took the stand, 'They are only getting what they justly deserve.' "
How profoundly different might have been the outcome if his leadership had generated compassion rather than hostility. "In the history of the AIDS epidemic, President Reagan's legacy is one of silence," Michael Cover, former associate executive director for public affairs at Whitman-Walker Clinic, the groundbreaking AIDS health-care organization in Washington. in 2003. "It is the silence of tens of thousands who died alone and unacknowledged, stigmatized by our government under his administration."
Revisionist history about Reagan must be rejected. Researchers, historians and AIDS experts who know the truth must not remain silent. Too many have died for that.

This varies from party to party (there are more than 10 parties in the Netherlands); some parties attract more rational people, others more impulsive types.

I remember those times well. Liz Taylor and Barbara Streisand were telling America that AIDS was getting mainstream. They raised millions. The CDC and other educated Doctors and epidemiologists were saying it could not be transmitted vaginally unless by forced intercourse (rape) and blood had to be transferred...i.e. micro tears on the penis during anal, and shared needles. The well informed looked at it as a gay/drug user problem. So straight non needle sharing main stream Americans saw it as non threatening to them. The Hollywood/liberal/gay drums kept beating.
You could not get AIDS from someone sneezing on you or leaving their infected wet hand on a bathroom door handle on like EBOLA. You had to use a shared needle or give/take it in the ass from someone with HIV. Oh yes there are a few exceptions. Girl wipes backwards (or does both ports) and spreads AIDS virus from her previously anal-ed ass into her vagina (short viral life span), birthing with HIV, and other rare exceptions. Dental visits, kissing and mosquito worries were quickly discounted.
So I can see why America today looks at EBOLA which can even kill their babies quite differently than AIDS. And if you were an adult in Reagan's time the mainstream culture outside of Hollywood could have given a rats ass about the gays and drug users.
My brother in law was known as 'Doctor to the stars'. He told me the truth about AIDS at the time. He was treating a well known NBA star.

Surely if any of this sparks an interest you can do a little researching yourself instead of having a stranger spoon feed it to you. The problem is that most repubs want to BITCH about obama 24/7, but don't want to IMPEACH HIM.
There's a strong possibility he personally let Holder ship thousands of guns over the mex border in the fast & furious scandal.
There's a strong possibility he ordered troops to stand down, allowing for benghazi slaughter.
For either offence, and IRS/spying/etc, he could be eligible for impeachment.
BUT - since Rush lumbaugh does MUCH better with a boogeyman like obama to rant about all day... since FOX news knows the obama-bashing is great for ratings - They told their followers that IMPEACHMENT was a BAD IDEA.
The reasons kept evolving. "Dems won't support it". Well, dems supported booting clinton for lying about a hummer. Or the "It'll take too long". Um, before our awesome technology, the last 2 impeachments took 11 and 12 months. So yeah, it's do-able.
ALmost HALF of the population supports impeachment, and repubs finally have a line on booting obama from power - at which point they could advance with criminal charges, etc.

Impeachment is a waste of time. The Republicans learned a lesson from the Clinton impeachment. Impeaching Obama would only bite them in the ass and build momentum for the Democrats in 2016.

Seems many here fall right into the Political theatre, believing one side is better than the other. Like mentioned above, the entire system is corrupt. Though this left vs right nonsense does a good job at keeping people divided/distracted.

There are definite left wing and right wing values. Look to South America and see how well Venezuela does with a communist president. Oil rich yet they always run out of toilet paper and owe Exxon and other MNCs billions. Mismanagement of peace. A less extreme example is France which is ostensibly a capitalist country but dominated by unions which will soon kill its economy then rape the corpse to get what's left.
Extreme right wing now are Muslim countries where conservatism is extreme yet they have some semblance of capitalism - like Saudi Arabia.
USA is more about the battle between collectivism and individualism and how best to operate such a system. Collectivism doesn't mean communism - it means working for a collective goal and putting the needs of the many first. Individualism means encouraging opportunity and enterprise but rewarding success by individuals.

I think McCain would have been good despite his policy on roids but Palin is a car crash. I lost money when Obama beat him :(

Obama would not have been impeached and the Democrats, as they always do, would ride the wave of victimization (Ferguson is part of that strategy) into the mid-terms and 2016. Can't you read the headlines, Obama First Black President Impeached for being black. Now imagine that kind of press for years.
Right or wrong, they are limited in what they can do to Obama without accusations of racism being leveled against them. Remember, these are the people who are desperate to play nice with Hispanics, a group who will never vote for them. In their own way, Republicans are as hyper-sensitive about race as the Democrats.
I've said numerous times that I find Fast and Furious to be criminal. Here is a bit of irony for you. Eric "my people" Holder said his greatest regret is failing to do more about gun control.

They're not going to impeach Obama...just like the Dems not impeaching Bush. They're all in it together. Remember Obama's "not looking back" speech about investigating Bush's war crimes. It's just a show. It's where the term "loyal opposition" comes from.

Same risk employers face these days when they hire unwisely. "Impeaching" certain employees (no matter how justifiable), often results in handsome payouts in addition to the bad press. And sometimes you're still stuck with the turd even after all that.
