Motivation for those who have good genetic response to a great deal of steroids and can perform lat pull downs and barbell rows.

He didn't dissappear. Trains people in Columbus and promotes his own show.

At any rate, Mike was a PHENOMENAL bodybuilder. A little weak from the back though. And his front was flawless. Just a thick, dense dude.

I think that this was one of the very few cases where steroids/GH didn't cause a bodybuilders demise.

Usually steroids damage the heart, liver, kidneys.

In the long run, Colitis sidelined him, and it may have saved Francois from ending up like Nasser, Attwood, Kovacs, Youngblood, ect...

Bodybuilding's gain was Christianity's loss. He was thinking about becoming a priest. So, narcissism won out, and he lost out in the end.

He started getting really thick and detailed in the back by 97.

He's married, so he would've left the priesthood eventually.

And compared to the rest of his body, his back was still a weak link.

That's what to expect. I can only imagine the extreme depression they all go through when every morning they look in the mirror they look skinnier and flabbier. I don't blame the poor guy.

Well, Mike has mentored/encouraged a lot of people in the iron game in his area, and is a judge.
I think he keeps in shape.

The top bodybuilders had a lot of density back in those days. If he would have shown up in his top condition on today's Olympia stage it would be glaringly apparent how soft today's competitors are. I hear guys saying his back was weak. I disagree.

That was when competitive bodybuilding was at its peak IMO. Before the guts, SEO, bloat, etc got out of hand.

He was one of the last competitors who was actually someone I aspired to look somewhat similar to. I've always had a similar training philosophy, but I've never managed to look anywhere near that freaky or impressive.  :-\

By your response I can tell that you are a negative loser that claims people who looks better than you must be on roids, that is the thing about twinks and permabulkers they are full of excuses.

With all respect, mein gutt mann (I hope I'm not butchering your language too badly), I have to disagree, and seriously so.

If anything, Mike's back was a strong point for him.  Not to appeal to authority -- it's a logical fallacy when misused -- but at the '95 ASC, Arnold even remarked about how freaky he thought Mike's back and legs were.

To put it another way ...

In '95, I cannot think of anyone, aside from Dorian of course, who actually had *better* overall back development than Francois.  His thickness was crazy, and even though he did have somewhat high lats, the sheer width of his lat spread, coupled with that thickness, was completely freaky.

His back development is probably what got him by Nasser in the '94 NOC, in fact.  Nasser was arguably as good at that show as he was when people really noticed him in 1995.  I honestly don't think he was much bigger overall, maybe a few pounds heavier at best, but people forgot about him after his lame '94 Olympia posing routine, at which time he'd lost the fullness and freakiness he had earlier in the year.

Conversely, they don't spend a second of their life thinking about you, and discussing your meaningless existence on a message board.

what message board would they even go to

if Francois didn't get sick, IMO he would have been one of Yate's  toughest rivals
