You mean after they invent a profitable way to "scoop" a metal from underneath a mile of water and haul it up when it is a few pennies per ton of ore? After that?

you will be surprised at human ingenuity when resources get short

just watch how quickly electric cars become incredibly efficient when oil runs out

You mean in a thousand years? Shale oil has really lengthened that runway.
