Legendary boxer Mike Tyson revealed during a radio interview this week that he was sexually abused as a child while growing up in Brooklyn, N.Y.
The topic came up during a portion of the SiriusXM's Opie Radio show, where Tyson was discussing his rough upbringing.
The 48-year-old said he was 7 when the incident occurred and went on to describe the incident when further questioned by the hosts.
“He snatched me off the street, I was a little kid, [he was an] old man. [He] bullied me, sexually abused me and stuff,” Tyson said. “Never seen him again.”
Tyson said he eventually managed to escape the molestation, but never told anyone, including the authorities, about the sexual abuse.
“I just went on with my life,” he said. “I don't always remember, but maybe I do but I don't. I'm not ashamed or embarrassed by it.”
The former world champion is currently making the media rounds to promote his new animated series “Mike Tyson Mysteries” on Cartoon Network.

The guy had it tough growing up on just about every aspect of life. Which kinda explains his adulthood to a certain degree.

I'm sure he had the power or close to it to do that at that time. Made many boxers, even those bigger than him, look like aids victims on their last legs in the ring. The man was an absolute monster.

It doesn't end in a knockout, but Tyson vs Jose Ribalta is my favorite match. Just 12 rounds of Ribalta absorbing punishment. I'm not quite sure how he survived that

it somewhat made him become who he is, not going to shed a tear, isnt he a millionaire now, going on tv, talking on radio sharing his thoughts... Life is absurd, hapiness is often built because, thanks to, traumatizing experiences. It's called resiliency. Transforming something bad into something good. Somewhat without the bad, the motivation to do good never would happen. A happy misfortune. Just like when you see husbands or wives suddenly become much more joyful once their so called loved one dies before they do.
Ask rich spoiled kids who always had it all. Life was too comfy, in return they didnt do shit and despise life while those who had it tougher enjoy it a lot more ironically.
Maybe he would have never become the boxer he was, the star he is, if it didnt happen. Funny how life works isnt it. Also, someone else would have ended in jail or killing themsleves. Life's a gamble.

But it's hard for me to choose a favorite knockout of his. But if I had to pick I would go with Trevor Berbick. Tyson obviously had Berbick scared at the start. You could see it in Berbick's eyes. Then as thee bout proceeded it was embarrassing the way Tyson was manhandling a world champion. Several times throughout Tyson got in some great shots. Berbick looked out on his feet. Then finally finishing things off. Brutally too. Berbick was flopping around the ring trying to get up. With that Tyson became the youngest heavyweight world champion.

Actually that was a ten round fight and Tyson stopped him in the tenth.

I miss the Tyson of old. He was a beast...a gladiator that took no prisoners. These days he's in movies, music videos, on the stage giving a one man show where he cries...and now this??!

Big fan of Mike here. A very misunderstood individual. And, unfortunately, so many try to " simplify " Mike ... which can't be done, as he's a very complex individual. Uber hit the nail on the head, I think. Goes a little deeper than that, but pretty spot on.
Wish Cus would've lived longer and WISH Don King never would have got his grubby little hands on Mike.

Tyson went in the ring to seriously damage his opponents, winning wasn't enough he wanted to maim and destroy. Think this is because of the anger he carried around from his childhood and was later exacerbated by drugs, alcohol and depression.
