Title: Bodybuilding Seminars
Post by: Never1AShow on November 05, 2014, 07:50:36 PM
Looking at the pictures of Flex Wheeler at that seminar made me think about bodybuilding seminars in general.

I've been to a few.  I got up at 4 AM and drove to hear Gaspari in the 80s.  Seen Mike Christian, also.  What a racket.  Pay 30 plus bucks to hear some guy tell you what?  You're not going to hear about how they really got big.  Even if you did get some of that, let me save you the money:  Step One, have great genetics.  Step two, see Step One.  All those guys in the back and Flex with that microphone is hilarious.  Nothing he has to say is going to take them any further than a years subscription to Iron Man magazine.

On the other hand I don't regret going for a minute, I was young and naive and just seeing them train a little in real life had a profound impact on me.  Almost like absorbing what was somehow humanely possible through osmosis.

Anybody disagree?  What seminars have you been to that helped you?

And lest I forget, did the Tom Platz squat clinic seminar happen yet?

True.  Pretty much useless.  With the amount of information on the internet today, why are you going to a seminar...other than to schmoe?
"So on bench, you pyramid up?"
"Ok, I take the creatine with my eggs.  You're saying to take it post workout instead?"
"How many sets do you do for arms?"

Riveting.

You know, this is similar to if you were starting to get into another new hobby that wasn't bodybuilding that also had a "dark truth" behind it. You would have no idea, but you'd probably find the seminar useful in some way.

These things aren't there for experts who know the ins and outs of Insulin and AAS protocols.
