Title: Gallup: GOP Congress more popular than Obama
Post by: polychronopolous on November 12, 2014, 07:46:22 AM
http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2014-11-11/poll-americans-want-gop-congress-not-obama-to-set-national-agenda

Times have changed. A new Gallup poll finds that a large majority of Americans would like the Republican-controlled Congress, rather than President Obama, to set the direction for the country in the coming year, a marked change from 2012, when a slim majority said they preferred for Obama to guide the agenda.

"Who do you want to have more influence over the direction the nation takes in the next year—Barack Obama or the Republicans in Congress?" Gallup asked 828 U.S. adults.

Fifty-three percent of those surveyed said they wanted Republicans in Congress to have the greater influence, 36 percent said Obama, and 8 percent, well, didn't seem to care, answering "same/neither."

In 2012, by contrast, 46 percent of Americans said they wanted Obama to have more influence.

While there's much for the GOP to crow about in the survey, Gallup also found that 44 percent of Americans believed Republican control of Congress would not make the country any better off. Thirty-six percent said a GOP Congress would make the country "better off," 19 percent said it would leave the country "worse off," and two percent had no opinion.

Another Gallup poll taken just two weeks before the midterm elections found that just 14 percent of Americans approved of the way Congress was doing its job.

It means the repubs are more popular......! Other then that not much..it will mean something if they get something done. If they get bi partisan bills though and into law then they will have some momentum when it comes time for shit Obama won't sign.

It means you are a fool for supporting Obama and liberal scumbags for their failed unworkable idiotic policies and that more and more people have woken up to the catastrophe of electing an incompetent communist radical to office

Hmmm, neither you, nor the other libtards on this board asked that question when Dems were more popular.

Nah, such inquiry was never posted on this board by the likes of you.

All I saw were people posting over and over again polls showing the american people favoring the dumocrats. As if somehow that was great thing.

Now that the GOP is favored, the libtards are trolling about trying to downplay its significance.

You didn't do it then with the democrats, so don't do it now.

na but seriously, i never asked because i never saw that thread created. Youve never seen me play the us vs them (like you do) on this board touting the democrats as the saviors. There is nothing on this board where I say we are in better hands because of a democratic party lead house or senate. So ive never asked the question because there was no reason for me to.

But as i see this poll posted, i wanted more insight as to what you think that means...

and calm your little ass down bro. Its just discussing politics. You arent pumping fear into anyone with your tough talk and demands.

To bad for the country that Republicans will most likely do nothing for the next two years

If they work with Obama to do things to help the country they (Repubs) perceive that would be bad for their party

party before country as always

What exactly did the Dems accomplish when they had the house and the senate?  Nothing good apparently, because they lost the house first, then the senate.  The American people were obviously not impressed with whatever the Dems were doing.

Obamacare and the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell.

its painfully obvious to all but the most ardent libtard that the country does not like the agenda obama and the dems have set.

Obama has also made it perfectly clear that he does not like compromising and would rather get done what he can get done through executive action than through the legislation process.

you are the last person that should be chastising anyone about putting their party before their country...

while i agree obama and his policy suck - public opinion isn't always the best indicator.   imagine of Bush pulled the plug on wars in iraq or afghanistan because rassmussen said support dropped to 49% lol.

Of course i disagree with most obama policies - but they were also wrong when the public DID approve them.  They're no more or less wrong now that the public disapproves.

this isnt about polling numbers, my post was about the election.

Obama himself said his policies were on the ballot and guess what? They got rejected

who says we need compromise?   I disagree with boehnner that "we have to do something"

The laws are in place.   No compromise needed.  President Cruz can ENFORCE existing law.

Reminds me of "we need better gun laws" - no, we need to enforce existing laws and lock up lawbreakers.

There are 12 million illegals - every one of them commits a crime daily just by being here.  No compromise.  You want compromise, you go back to MEX and you apply legally.

agree in theory but in practice that wont happen...you arent going to deport 12-20 million people who have children, families, jobs, houses/apartments etc...

they are here to stay and the issue is what to do with them.

you don't have to deport anyone.  You change ONE thing a month.

#1 make it harder to hire them
#2 make it harder to rent to them
#3 start adding penalties to those who hire illegals - $10k fine per employee
#4 offer rewards to anyone that turns in employers hiring them, or renting to them

Right there, you have a shitload that LEAVE without touching anyone, because work/housing dries up.

next, you kick out ANY that are in ANY section of the criminal justice system.
next, you AWARD CITIZENSHIP to any illegal with a 4-year college degree.  Call it the "bring up the GPA of the USA" initiative ;)  If you don't have one, you go back to MEX and get one at the brand new "Tech U" on the border.  Live in dorms, take student loans, and LEARN mnfg, engineering, tech skills, medical, etc.

All those leaving because of #1-4 will suddenly have a place to go - this amazing tech school.  In five years, this school has cured cancer, invented a better pacemaker, pumped out 50,000 electical engineers, invented the next 3 killer aps, and voila, they can all come back once they get their degree.   This motivates lazy citizens to get their asses in gear.  "Dey took our jobsssss", yes, because they have a PhD in mathematics and you are really good at Call of Duty.

Shit man, I think I owe myself a beer for that solution.  cervesa, amigo?

lol what you did is show you really have no idea what youre talking about.

imagine some sort of funnel system.   If you're illegal, you can go to "Mex U" or whatever, a US school on the south side of border.  Borrow (great for US economy), live in dorms, work in the little town that supports the school, and get fucking GOOD at something.  Not manual labor or small tasks - learn brain surgery or high end computing.

THEN you can re-apply and get automatically approved.  You return with student loan debt (great for US economy, it's essentially printing $) and you are highly skilled.  The US suddenly starts to rise in a lot of areas thanks to these educated, hard working immigrants.

At last admit the school idea is a cool one

hey good job, you finally read the article

it laid out point by point why the GOP should not try to govern even though doing so would be good for the country

so again (and AS ALWAYS) it's party before country for the GOP

I just read today the Reid said he would not try to wouldn't try to obstruct the GOP

funny how when the GOP is in the minority they very proudly proclaim they will do nothing but obstruct

Party before Country every time with these guys
