Just insane!!!!
-
That truly is an amazing lift, a #532 Clean and Jerk in that weight class is Ripley's Believe It or Not level stuff.
-
It was the most epic session of weightlifting in history.
-
Awesome power & strength.
Fantastic lifting.. :o
-
Today has to get epic too. Salimi vs Lovchev vs Albegov. All similar totals.

Dude has swagger. Seems to enjoy himself and genuinely have fun while lifting.
-
The men's +105kg is currently on.
Watching it on EuroSport.
-
Pff, Ilya is just holding the interim-title until Aramnau decides to put him back in his place.
-
Russians....master race

Lovchev fails on all three lifts in snatch. :(
Albegov leads going into the C&J. Salimi looking slighty rusty so far.
Lot's of tragic hairlines on display. ;D
-
Poor performances. This sport peaked 30 years ago.
-
Albegov wins gold in the overall.
Lovchev is 1st in the C&J with a 257kg. Must be pissed off with himself for bombing in the snatch.
-
Lovchev will be the next champion, if not worlds, then olympics.
Mad potential.

Agreed. Such long arms and still locking those jerks with ease. Will be good for 215/260 or more.
-
This is a good indicator of Lovchevs potential :o:

Here's a 586 lb clean and jerk for you bitches

all momentum and technique

That and a front squat in the 280-300kg range.
-
I don't understand how someone can do this. ???

I believe that is the heaviest ever C&J in completion.
Sadly it is not classified as the world record as the weight
Classes were changed.
No Belt. No knee wraps / sleeves, & Hook Grip.
Incredibly strong & powerful.

Exactly. There is no power there.

Damn

Exactly. There is no power there.
Scientists have determined that the jerk is the most powerful movement in any sport. Pisarenko had a power delivery of over 7000W during the jerk. :o
-
Weightlifting is the most impressive barbell sport of all, for obvious reasons. And in my opinion, the women's divisions are just something unbelievable, no other sport shows women performing at a level that high compared to the men.

Llya stopped uploading videos on YouTube about 3-4 months ago. In his last training vids, he looked a bit heavy to be in the 94kg group, but still within range to shed weight. Then out of bum fuck nowhere he joins the 105's and sets a world record.
Dimitri Klokov better stop collecting checks with his world wide "circus strength show" lifting clinics, and get back in his home gym...there's a new sheriff in town. 8)

Holy shit.
I wonder how a 550lb bencher would feel if this guy walked up and threw that weight up over his head.

There are no weak but skillful weightlifters. Yes, the momentum is the incredible power they generate. They are literally jumping upward with the weight. Power in sport is a more important attribute than strength. There is skill in any sport but Olympic lifting isn't that complicated. Olympic lifting should be called power lifting and Power lifting should be called strength lifting.
I once saw a 165lbs weight lifter in the gym clean and jerk 315lbs over head. A bodybuilder stripped it down to 225lbs and he couldn't do it complaining about he doesn't have the skill. No, the biggest thing he was missing was explosive power.
-
Holy shit.
I wonder how a 550lb clean & jerk lifter would feel if this guy walked up and Bench pressed that weight.
Fixed.. ;) No hate.
It's horse's for course's.
Totally impressed with what The weight lifters do.
From what I recall at several previous Olympics
The Weight Lifters all ways had the highest standing vertical jump
& the fastest 40yrd time.
Power.

You do realize that there are quite a few weightlifters who can bench near the same as their clean and jerk right?
Looking at the Russians for example, they incorporate quite a lot of bodybuilding exercises.

Yeah, I'd venture most are plus or minus #50lbs C/J to Bench, or could be there within a couple of weeks of getting use to the movement.

Not as big but 100 x hotter
Notice how high that bar is off her chest at the 1:00 mark :D

I often train at the gym which is home the UK weightlifting team.
It is also the home for UK disabled Bench Press team.
I see the Olympic lifters doing plenty of Squats front & back
Power cleans, power snatches, jerk presses, and of course
Clean & jerk, Snatch.
I don't see them doing any bench pressing or chin's or curls.
Of course they may do these on the days I am not in gym.
-

This is why I provided the example of the Russians, who incorporate perhaps the most bodybuilding exercises in their training routines.
Just because the UK team apparently doesn't, doesn't mean that across the field oly lifters don't bench press. Looking at the world top, they all incorporate accessory and bodybuilding exercises, like the benchpress, in their routines.
*I can't be bothered looking up the personal bests of athletes but I'm sure you can do that yourself, you'll find that most can benchpress in the range of their jerk, as someone else pointed out already.

Looks like shit. This is the only beautiful woman in weightlifting.

I was referring to Maria, but Julia is not bad either. Maria is much better tho and innocent looking, Julia looks like a bitch.

Kasharina's New World Record in the Snatch to go with her new record in the C&J All speed and technique ;D

You may well be correct.
I would be interested in seeing what their Training Routines Look Like.
Perhaps The UK & USA team could do with copying these Routines.
As Both Nations are Not at the Top of This Sport.

3x per week one session dedicated to strength - squats, deadlifts, presses. One training session, AM only.
2-3 times per week two training sessions with snatch in the morning, clean&jerk in the evening. Very few accessory movement, mostly snatch or clean and jerk specific.
Rep ranges and programming differs depending on athlete's individual response. Mostly huge volume in 90-95% range.
That's the Russian system. There's no magic to it. You have to take into consideration that Russian athletes dedicate 100% to lifting. They get paid $8000-$12000 per month. They have amazing strength training facilities with best coaches and equipment in the world. They live there for free, eat as much as they want for free (and it's highest quality food), inject as much as they want.
I'm talking about this training facility. Sauna and massage every day, virtually unlimited money for drugs. They live better conditions to grow than any bodybuilder and they have no official internal drug tests. The only limiting factor is the fact that they have to be clean during major events, that's it.
Klokov is a son of a russian multi-millionare and weightlifting champion. His father decided that he would become weightlifter instead of lawyer when he was still a small kid. He hired best coach in the country to train him from a stratch. To this day Klokov is first and the only kid this guy has ever trained. Klokov's father even built weightlifting facility near Moscow so that Klokov could come home after training.
Your average Joe doesn't stande a chance against them, you need to have crazy genetics to be able to keep up with Russians. Ilya is an exception, so was Kolecki, Dolega and others.
-
These weighs are damn amazing but looking at the women makes an absolute mockery of Olympic drug testing.
-
Wow, this is sick!
5 legit reps, ass to ground, belt only.

All the good lifters who haven't won anything yet don't get paid shit. Few hundred dollars max. Only the "superstars" get paid like this.
For every guy who gets paid this amount, there are 1000 of dedicated lifters who struggle. Klokov never struggled, and yet only one WC win.
Then look at Andrei Aramnau, who comes from a shit poor country with almost no support (got 200$ after his olympic win...) and has the best total in this weightclass.
These are the guys who are insanely talented and define weightlifting for me. Not "crossfit superstar" Klokov.

That means Klokov is a lot smarter than Aramnau. You can't eat a plastic trophy.
-
Could be, but being smart or not does not have a lot to do with weightlifting does it. :D

Dedicating your entire life to something that only pays 200 bucks is fucking retarded, I can't respect that no matter how impressive the lifts.

It's like that for all fringe sports though.
Here was the break down for Russia a few years ago -
" Member of the Russian national team has 4 main competitions per year. That includes Cup of Russia, European Championship, Russian Championship and World Championship. Prior to each competition, there is a training camp. Overall, athletes spend 8 months per year in training camps.
Training camps are being held for top 3 athletes of the nationals as well as for young talented prospects. Quiet often training camps are being held in the Academy of Olympic Weightlifting in Taganrog. There is an excellent food there, great diversity of dishes and some athletes gain up to 10 kilos over a camp. Most athletes have personal plans and the head coach only give sthem advice and sometimes corrects athletes personally.
National team member gets a stipend of 15,000 roubles ($ 500) per month and every year each athlete has to earn this stipend by finishing in top 3 @ the Europeans or top 6 @ the worlds.
There are bonuses like for the duration of a year, Russian championship winner receives 45,000 roubles ($900) per month, European champion gets 60,000 roubles ($2,000) per month, World champion gets 90,000 roubles ($3,000) per months and for gold medal @ the Olympics 150,000 roubles ($ 5,000) per month. ”
The Chinese have a similar program and the numbers are close, but the rewards are better on the back end.
The U.S. stipend is $400 - 1000, per month with a few chances at odd jobs here and there. The medal bonus for the olympics was $10, 15, or $25,000 depending on medal placement.
