Backwards evolution?
-
The whole world has been held back for centuries because of wars of insecure people's need to control others in the name of religion rather than advancements made it's not changing now
-
War gave us rockets and computers to eventually get to space. Perhaps we'll invent a new kind of fusion/gravity bomb that will see our enemies driven before us AND will power us into space when we want to go all faggoty Star Trek.
I fear that the universe is not a friendly place and remembering our warlike past will be a benefit once we get out there.
-
Let the US allocate 50% of its war budget to space programmes and you would have McD's served at a Mars colony in a decade.
Sadly the current US is busy warmongering, importing ebola patients, dumbing down the population and revoking the 2nd amendment.

well, if the CTers are correct about faked moon landing, staged this or that... Even if it all happened and NASA only faked some of those pics for *whatever reason*.
well, it's near impossible in the days of Google Moon and advanced telescopes, of reverse photoshop youtube heroes, to fake anything these days.
imagine the photoshop experts of today analyzing doctored moon landing pics and video (yes, some of the originals were certainly doctored, for whatever reason). They'd poke holes in anything staged or faked.

Space exploration has actually advanced more in the last decade than in the 30 years before it.
Ironically space exploration was based on a communist model until ten years ago.
Spacex has gotten the price down to launch to 5-10 percent of its previous cost.
That kind of price reduction is pretty much a paradigm shift that can be found in any major technology.
Andrew Carnegie got the price of making steels dractically reduced.
Hall-Héroult created cheap aluminum
Elon Musk got cheep space flight.

Space exploration has never been proven to be real.
-
what is there to explore? Life would probably be the same on other planets. Most civilizations probably destroy themselves before they reach the stars. Also the only point of exploration, leaving the earth, is to flee it if it becomes unhabitable, to continue our wars on other planets.

IT's called expanding life as we know it.
That expansion requires explore human mind.
It's likely whatever adapted humans survive in space will like be more peacful than we are.

yes we are devolving
:'(

Gases, minerals and resources could be useful on the other planets, moons and asteroids in the solar system.
Useful to fuel more wars.
-
Perpetual war means perpetual killing and human destruction.
-
Space exploration has been given up to support the worthless leaches of society.

8) What he said

Not much profit in space travel. Lots and lots of profits in war. War wins.

jesus doesnt want us finding aliens

" If man were meant to fly, he'd have wings." and " The horseless carriage will never replace the good old horse and buggy."
cranky old man, circa 1902.

This.
Pretty fucked up there are groups of people out there who conspire to commit mass killings for profit. Brains wired differently.

Time was we were able to do both. I blame video games and flouride in the water.

Lets be perfectly clear, living on a planet is fucking stupid.
For all the hippy talk is worth we spend epic amounts of resources engineering against this planet.
Between uncontrolled temperature fluctuations(space doesnt transfer like air), wasting energy going against friction, rust, compensating for gravity, digging to get at the earths resources, designing everything to fight against gravity etc.
If we get out of this dam gravity well the last place we wanna go is another hole.
Asteriods are far more economically feasible(once we get there)
unlimited high value minerals.
Ability to manufacturer and construct in zero g.
No friction to fight against.

lol, mankind will destroy itself and maybe the whole planet before it can leave for another one. And it s the same happening probably everywhere else in the universe if there are other mankinds there. Also the only reason why we moved and conquered new territories, the earth, has always been to find food and ressources, it's no different with space exploration; we ll leave earth if we need to, if there are ressources somewhere else or if life is impossible on it anymore.
But again, we will probably never leave. This rock is going to be our tomb.

Backwards evolution?
War has been a constant feature throughout human history. It is necessary and only idealistic dreamers think otherwise.
War is good !!!! (when viewing the bigger picture) By fighting wars, people have created larger, more organized societies that have reduced the risk that their members will die violently.
Hope this helps !!!

Backwards evolution?
anti depressant consumption is exploding in the so called civilized, atheist world. People cant heal themselves anymore with spirtuality, family, individuals are lonely , atomized, they suffer so they need pills to feel happy. God is now in a pill. Shrinks are the new pastors and monks. Religions were natural anti depressants. Science , rationalism, destroyed this natural anti depressant and substituted it with another.
We probably are nearing the end of mankind, which is now dying of old age and becoming more and more childish and dumb, like a devolution.

This is classic romanticizing of the past. Your analysis highlights a complete ignorance of what life has been like for most people on this planet since the dawn of time. Today's quality of life far surpasses anything a human being could experience from the 18th century back to the beginning of time. Anti-depressants, are just yet another way to ENHANCE ones quality of life, just another reason that makes modern life and it's myriad choices to create an unequaled quality of life that surpasses anything humans have ever known. Just because many people today use anti-depressants doesn't mean that miserable people are a current phenomena. Had anti-depressants been around 500 years ago nearly everyone would have been using them considering how miserable life was.
It is only just recently (the last few centuries) that the harshness and low quality of life has been elevated dramatically to what it is now. Prior to these drastic changes human life was notoriously harsh, cruel and unforgiving for the majority of people. Life has never been better for so many people. Your comment probably reflects your own personal depression rather than any objective analysis of modern times.
And I don't know where you got the idea from that people could HEAL themselves with spirituality or family. That is an absolute absurd notion. People have never been able to heal themselves with such things. As a matter of fact many people in the past died agonizing deaths from all types of illness and disease that modern day people don't have to worry about because such fears have now been eliminated because of scientific and medical discoveries. Science has proven the most effective method known to man in healing people, and today millions of people are treated and have their lives enhanced because of this.

Are you serious? It might be time for you to stop posting here and read a book or two and throw in a dummies book on history 101. It might come as a surprise to you that recorded history begins with the accounts of the ancient world around the 4th millennium BC, and coincides with the invention of writing.
