Well - that was odd....
I thought I'd had some strange nights out in Bangkok but that one took the biscuit. First I went out with a few Thai guys I know and then about 9pm, I decided to go to Sphinx Bar in Silom Soi 4 as my friend owns it.
Anyway - I think I may have met gay royalty. There was a fella there celebrating his 70th Birthday. He was elegantly quaffed, wearing beautiful a white suit which complimented his he had bleached blonde hair and (I hate to say it) stunning blue eyes. Accompanying him on his trip was what appeared to be a mid-50's Eddie Izzard. Apparently Eddie accompanies him on his 3 month sojourns to India and elsewhere.... Of course, they also had a young Thai boy in tow who I presume was employed as a translator or something...
He looked like an older version of the lead singer of The Alarm...

He came over to chat - and he was obviously wealthy upper-crust English. He was a very nice guy. We got him a few drinks for his birthday. At one point he was chatting about his "baroness" friend. I don't think he was bullshitting. He wasn't showing off. Seemed it was just how he was... which was interesting in a fruity sort of way.
As he left, I got a peck on each cheek. Not that I wanted one but then I've had the same off straight French guys when I've been too pissed/polite to refuse them too.
I feel like I may have met gay royalty.
Does such a thing exist?

You might have simply met an affluent, older gay man.
Sounds like he was certainly a character.

Hey, OMR. Have you heard of jack donovan? What do you think of his ideas on homsexual men? What he refers to as androphilia

I've heard of old Jack, the Satanist-Skinhead with a stern view of how gay men should act only like men, yet are still able to have homosexual relations.
I can see where based upon his upbringing and other beliefs, it is possible for him to have these views. I have mentioned before that there are differences between being a gay man and acting overly effeminate, while being gay.
I think the best approach is to live and let live. Not everyone will act in a uniform fashion and asking for that level of unilateral conformity across the world of gay men is unreasonable. Everyone is unique and has their own reasons for living the lives they live.
Jack's book is entertaining, if you read it loosely..

I haven't read his book but he and his ideas were talked about on a podcast I was listening to. The two hosts were debating whether some straight men would less homophobic if gay men were more masculine. Straight men and gay men would have more in common. I found that was generally true in the military. I guess he's no longer a satanist.

I've known more than a few homosexual men whom I have called friends that could not stand the whole sissified notion that seems to permeate the "Gay Culture". One friend once said something along the lines of "I'm a man that likes men, not breastless females with an inverted vagina".
These guys couldn't stand nellies, drag queens and the like. They were all conservative, predominately Caucasian and to a man did not define themselves (publicly or privately) simply by where they put their dicks. They had friends (such as myself) that were just that - friends. Never hit on me. None of them because as I respected their choice so too did they respect mine. In other words, we respected our friendship.

In the military I knew gay men who looked down on feminine men. These guys like to drink and fire weapons. Who knows what they were like in their private lives.

To be honest, it's only the whole effeminate aspect of gayness that's stopped me from joining. If it were more like Line Dancing or Nascar I would definitely give it a try.

It wasnt the man on man sex? Looks like you got your priorities straight ;D

I'm not one to fall over the wrong hurdles in life.

Yeah, I would have joined the "movement" but I couldn't afford the extra purchases every month of shoes and accessories.

"Straight"? I've got a couple of friends that refuse (jokingly) to use that word when driving. They prefer to instead say, "Go forward, here". ;D Good folks.

I've known both homosexual and heterosexual folks that keep their private lives, private. I don't care to hear about (or see) anyone's sex life.
I might get jealous because mine's non-existent Dammit!. ;D

I was very close a couple of times, but the thought of having to plan my outfits for the whole week in advance made sucking cocks seem like a breeze in comparison.

My sister is quite a famous gay, so I would have no shortage of party invites etc.

Exactly! 8) I think it was the ghostly holiday spirit of Ben Weider?
We now need details on the inevitable g4p encounter that followed

The alternative lifestyle seems like a fulfilling way to live, except Ron told me I would have to change my screen name to a douchey 2 part animal name, which was too much for me.

Most of the gay men I've known have (i) not been the "flaming homosexual" type and (ii) have absolutely despised the "flaming homosexual" type, explaining that it's usually an act to draw attention to oneself.
If even the Pope can admit (paraphrasing) that "it is not necessary to obsess over these issues" then hopefully the rest of the world can follow suit.
It's never made much sense to me why so many people are vehemently opposed to the legalization of something that has no direct effect on them whatsoever.

One time I met Rob Halford in a Ralph's supermarket in San Diego.

I find feminine behavior from gay dudes amusing and funny.

One could argue that although it has no direct effect on someone, that the affect is seen on society as a whole.

Ancient Astronaut Theorist believe that "true" homosexuality is not a choice but has been encoded into DNA as a form of population control when humans were made.

What is this effect you speak of?

That's why it's called "Taking it like a man." :o

I knew those little gray bastards were queer. I'm still pissed about the anal probe they used when they abducted me.
