Title: Best bodybuilders that never turned pro
Post by: Tennisballz on November 28, 2014, 03:03:58 PM

My apologies if this is already posted.  Some great physiques on here and I haven't heard of most of them.  Seeing some of the bloated physiques on stage today it amazes me these guys couldn't make pro!  I guess a testament to how competetive the 80s and 90s were.  I really like the physiques of Billy Smith and Rory Leidelmeyer.

Never turned pro   :(
I actually was a bit insulted that Palumbo didn't make the list!  Man he had all the drive and knowledge it seems but God just did not want him to be a pro.  Screwed in the genetics department.  ;D

My god, just looking at that pic is difficult.  I hate to bash someone's physique but he looks soooo bad!  Paper thin skin, weird veins, oily arms and a triangular left tricep....poor guy!

Why didn't he make the list? ??? The dude was the original freak monster along with Dillett

Two pics of Edgar Fletcher. This shows you the quality of the 90s. He couldn't get his Pro card, and he could pull a vacuum as well. Shows you just how much the quality has gone downhill

Much fiercer competition back then. The 90's truly was the last glorious era.

Craig Titus got into it with him, and Craig had said that Edgar couldn't win his Pro card because he has thick skin, he couldn't get cut enough and would come in smooth...said some other stuff

for some reason them calling themselves IFBB pros really irritates me too.

It seems that some of the physique guys have just started dabbling in weight training, and the NPC knows that there is money to be made from the 1st-3rd year serious weight trainer that doesn't have the base, want, or desire to go full on, and they may have a good face as well.
Seriously, some of these guys phyisques would get beat by football players or bar guys (the ones that do the bar work like Hannibal).

He probably refused to allow the judges to suck his cock. Not gonna go far and retain heterosexuality.

I saw Dave at a local show guest posing in 1998. He was one big dude. He was pushing 300lbs...  just a fucking monster.

That guy looks awesome!  I'm sure most of these guys wised up and figure the health risks arent worth it in the long run, especially if what they already had wasnt even earning them a pro card.

Don't get me wrong and I agree with u on the direction physique is going in terms of revenue and appeal

Yes the physiques are more ideal for the general public and "attainable"

But to have them compete and strutting around hitting feminine poses is just to much, on top of that there's like 50 of them in each competition and it's boring

It's a disgrace to have IFBB attached to their names. I see a lot of these clowns at destination dallas gym and I mean really?? That's a pro?? Yeah maybe I grew up with the 90's guys but physique is just boring

back when fletcher was trying to turn pro the nats where stacked with its best competition to date imo,for instance in 92 he had guys like john the tank sherman, chris duffy, demayo, 93 he had deal with mike fracois, dennis newman, toney freeman, i dont think he competed in 94 but 95 u had don long and tom prince to name a couple. fletchar always came in top 3 or so and its a shame he didnt turn pro. its all about how the classes r and he had the toughest around imo

Dillett and Palumbo should not belong even in the same sentence, universes apart... Answer to the thread is Rory Leidelmeyer, and Matt Mendenhall just behind, imo...

They were both freaks in their own ways, Dillett was an aesthetic monster freak beast.

I understand what you're saying, Dillett is a legendary 90s pro with unmatched genetic, the number one superfreak ever, Palumbo was never a pro, and although he had lots of muscles on top of muscles, he looked "freaky" in a not so good way, ready to die or explode in an instant...
