Let me guess, "he let Tyson off with a warning"? ::)

tyson mustve had hundreds of incidents like that over the year, im pretty sure he spends a lot of time thinking about it ::)

I wonder how many minds of "alpha" males he must have shattered during his lifetime. ;D
-
id love to see the expression on the face of a bodybuilder, the moment he realize the number of plates on the bench dont mean shit making eye contact with tyson
-
know what would be cool labrada's son against yates son in a show ..
-
chris cormier doesnt say UMM UMM like a lot of other people, who knew he could express himself better than most

Yes, Chris was very open in the interview and he had a lot of great stories about his contest experiences. I think he liked
going back through memory lane.

good interview doesnt have to be more complicated than that. hope for some other bodybuilders from back in the day in coming episodes
-
Chris was a better interviewee than I thought. Great physique too.
+: you let him speak and didn't interrupt him all the time as some interviewers do
- : audio (background noise)

It was a lot better than I expected. Thanks. Pretty funny part about King Kamali's cousin talking shit. It must run in the family

Actually a really good interview. At first it drags but if you're into bodybuilding it's a great interview. He comes across as a decent guy.

It took him a few min to warm up but once we started talking about his past contests, he really came alive.
I'll fix the audio problems for the next interview.
I'm interviewing Mike Katz this week for our next episode. He should have some great stories about training with Arnold
and the book and movie Pumping Iron.

I have some requests. Ask him about playing in the NFL. Ask if he regrets not getting to that historic super bowl. Also how he feels about his portrayal in Pumping Iron. I saw him in person when he was at the top of his bodybuilding game in street clothes. He was one big dude.

Great questions! I'll be sure to ask him those. Not too many people have asked him about his football career.

I disagreed with Chris about Ronnie at the 2001 Arnold. And I think Ronnie was 260ish there, not 240. I think he went down to the 240s for the 2001 Mr O.
-
Cormier is one of the all time greats.
Perfect build, smart guy.

I disagreed with Chris about Ronnie at the 2001 Arnold. And I think Ronnie was 260ish there, not 240. I think he went down to the 240s for the 2001 Mr O.
From what I remember, I think Ronnie was in the 240's for the 2001 Arnold but I don't think he was 280 at the previous Mr. Olympia (2000). I believe Ronnie was about 247 for the '98 Olympia, 257 in '99
and over 260 in 2000. He was a little too bloated in 2000 so he went down to 247 for the 2001 Arnold and dominated that show. At the 2001 Olympia that year, he was pushed hard by Jay and was losing going into the night show. The next year at the Olympia (2002), he came in too flat because the judges told him to compete like he did at the 2001 Arnold. However, Ronnie was too big at that point and he lost muscle and flattened out trying to get down to the 240's. He barely won the Olympia that year and then lost to Gunter at the Show of Strength one month later. In 2003, Ronnie came back bigger than ever at 283 pounds and totally dominated.

He was bigger than DJ who was 261 for the 2001 Arnold. Ronnie was in the 240s when he first won, and he had more separation...
He went up in weight for subsequent Mr. O's, and as criticized then he went down, but it was disappointing .

I agree what he says about conditioning in the end. It shouldn't be the end be all, shape is more important.
And he was quite clear about bb being shit today.
-
cormier never had bad showings and did many shows, had some of the best legs front to side/hams at one point...great shape, can compete high or lower bodyweights and still looked great ...freaky like Ronnie or dillet no but freaky is his own regard..

I thought that was interesting too, how he said his shape, proportions and muscle mass were more important that extreme conditioning. He was referring to Beneziza and Munzer when
he said some of the bodybuiders on the circuit who tried for that extreme conditioning are no longer with us.

He actually looked good. More balance type guy. Which should be rewarded way more.
-
Great Interview from Natural_O John Hansen.

I like how he said that Phil and Kai would lose. The 90s guys were on another level. Although, I think that Phil and Kai would look better if they competed in the 90s than what they look like now.
-
chris always had the rep that he is lazy but i dont think its accurate, dude been around for a long time, training twice a day even sleeping in his car living the bodybuilding lifestyle etc it seems unfair to say that

As has been said back in the 90s he was strong as all get out. And it has been said before, that Chris, Flex and Rico used to train heavy. Charles Glass told Flex to knock that off...there is more longevity with the body using lesser weights. Just look at how Ronnie Coleman's body looks now.

CHRIS WAS AND LOOKED STRONG 405 INCLINES,LEGS HEAVY SQUATS.HEAVY ASS DBELLS NOT THE NORM..
-
And don't forget the 1000 pound hack squats like he talked about in the video.
-

yep, or the 695 squat as well.
But, my question is, since he trained with Dorian when he was in his 40s and after his tricep injury and he hasn't been training as hard, would he still have the same sentiment if he met and trained with Dorian back in the early 2000s?
-

Precisely. They would. Not only cuz they are worse, but the standards were different too
They would have probably followed a different "routine"

I don't believe in that kind of "hard training" if anyone wanted to make another puke it isn't that hard as evidenced in the Dorian cormier training clip

He did have his worst showing in the 2004 O, that was also one of his worst regardless of what show he competed in

Chris believes that the conditioning and the posing was much better in his era than today.
-

Is that where he did the cringe-worthy Macarena? :-X :-X or was that 2005?
-
Chris was a brute when he first turned pro
-
:o
-
Great pics!
-
:)
-
Chris had great legs from the very beginning.
-
:o
Also of note, he had said that Shawn Ray was an influence of sorts. And Flex had said that he wanted to be like Shawn Ray---as Shawn had won his Pro card in 87. Chris had said in the interview about Shawn being a "complete bodybuilder" or along those lines. Alq Gurley had said that Shawn was Mr. Bodybuilding. It seems that Shawn has influenced or helped in some form, the shape of several bodybuilder's careers and paths.
-
Great questions! I'll be sure to ask him those. Not too many people have asked him about his football career.
I think he was done with the Jets the year before their Super Bowl win over the Colts. It was Super Bowl III. Imagine being Mr. America with a Super Bowl ring?

X2 very underrated.
Cormier>Yates
-
Chris was a great BB

hard partying lifestyle may have held him back a bit

Your posts and threads creep me out
Threads like which mr O has the smallest cocks...
Aren't u an old schmoe too?? :D
-
The Olympian with the smallest cock is obviously Iris Kyle
-
I have a question for Mike Katz's upcoming interview. From a scale of 1-10, how rusty were those fenders on his bike?

He is a total old schmoe.
He can give you the going rates for soiled trunks.

Let me guess, "he let Tyson off with a warning"? ::)
Iron Mike was lucky that Cromier did let him off with a warning - Chris was capable of inclining 500 for reps, while Tyson by all accounts was lucky to bench 405 or so.

lol, plus cormier squats almost 700 and mikes lucky to get 500,im sure mike pissed in his pants when cormier demanded an apology also, tyson knew he was dealing with a roided out killer

And you know Chris never allowed himself to go catabolic or to creep into negative nitrogen balance, dehydration, or low blood sugar. His energy levels, amino acid turnover, hydration levels, and hormone levels were always optimized.
The frequent meal breaks for chicken & rice and whey / dextrose / creatine shakes that he, Flex, and Rico took on rotations every 2 hours assured that. He said in Flex Mag that the bosses allowed them to keep their coolers nearby to optimize their performance on the job, and they also always kept their gallons of distilled water on ice right by the door - bouncing drunks out the door was hard work.
-
the interviewer is rocking a great toupe

I have many many questions for Mike Katz.
All of them about Arnold.

Bahhahaha! That was real funny man, I'm sure he still wakes up at night screaming about this...

While Chris was loading up on carbs, protein, BCAAs, etc, Iron Mike was out in the parking lot chugging 40's and smoking mo's. It would have been no contest - Chris by a leg sweep, arm bar, or full Nelson FTW!
