i wouldve posted in training but i learned that anything goes on the g&o so theres no point any more (we see other threads like training over 40-50 not being moved)

Oh boy. Making a bunch of shit threads to make a point to OMR. What a brilliant idea. And we'll soon have a screed about "free speech rights" on a private messageboard.

Liquid chalk? Chalk that is liquid? What will they think up next, liquid fire?

To give a serious answer here to anyone who might like to know, gyms that don't allow regular chalk usually allow liquid grip. A bottle lasts me quite some time 6+ months. Retails for about $30

Actually on sale, better stock up.

I use it instead of regular chalk. Works well.

thanks guys ill give it a try

It's not a substitute for chalk if you are say pulling weights you can hardly hold onto.
Liquid chalk just gives you dry hands.

would it help on say deadlifts and pull ups

Yeah if you need your hands drier because they sweat. It's basically like an antiperspirant.
If you are pulling limit maxes and your grip fails sometimes despite chalk then I would continue with regular chalk.

I use a low dust chalk in my gym that is pretty good. It still leaves a little dust, but nothing like the cloud of regular chalk.

Does it leave a residue on the bar?

Does it leave a residue on the bar?
Nope, unless it's still wet.
-
Liquid chalk (magnesium based) has been used by gymnast for quite a while now. Just keeps the palms dry, insuring a better non slip grip. Not 100%, nothing really is, but fairly dependable. Doesn't leave much of a noticeable residue, but advisable to wipe the bar after use. . Some rock climbers use the stuff
With gripping in mind, guy's still mostly use bar or the powder chalk box in lifting. Some (including gymnast & climbers) use rosin, in a pouch form or free form. Pin tar (sticky's) not used that much anymore. Banned in some lifting gym's I have heard. Makes a complete mess on any lifting equipment, and very hard to remove.
I will use bar chalk in some workouts. Pretty handy stuff. never used the liguid form. Also like lifting straps, a sure non slip answer when using heavier weights.
Good luck.

It's just jizz in that bottle. Why do you think your hands stick so well to the bar???
-
you speak with hard experience no doubt
As always!!!
Now take the advice of someone who knows better than you to better yourself!
My xmas gift to you....

My experience with the liquid chalk, don't use too much and let it dry completely or it will make the bar sticky. It worked well for the normal workouts but I wouldn't recommend it for ORM.
-
My best results with it consisted of spraying it on both my hands and the bar.
I forget the brand I used, and it was maybe about ten or so years ago.
