HELL of a stretch. Just beyond Hubble's scope-type stretch. Not even Arnold's best action movie. T2, True Lies, c'mon.
-
The musical was better than the movie IMO
-
Commando is one of the most entertaining action movies ever but it's full of mistakes, predator is one of the best made sci-fi action thrillers of all time and still holds up today, there's a difference.
-
HELL of a stretch. Just beyond Hubble's scope-type stretch.
lol.
Clearly its a good movie, but the best movie ever, even in terms of action, id say, "no."
-
Immortal action flick, Commando is an iconic movie with great soundtrack, one-liners and action, but not Arnold's best, not even close...

PREDATOR is his best.
-
Commando is the best movie OF ITS KIND ever made. Its unintentional hilarity can never be reproduced; it is a one of a kind gem. The only movie thats even close is Death Wish 3
-
You fellas need to watch more movies.
-
PREDATOR is his best.
Yes, Predator is up there with T1 and T2, True Lies also, and the first Conan...

The musical was better than the movie IMO
Lmao never seen that one

We haven't agreed on much - ok, zero - but here, oddly enough, we're simpatico. Fantastic films, all.
-
Yea I've tried to watch the original but it never grabbed me, goodfellas, now that's a timeless gangster film.
Found them all very overrated.
Just all right, IMO.

Enter the Dragon for me. The fact it was completed was a near miracle, timeless masterpiece IMO.

There's the full film. I got to say if you just watch it as campy B grade stuff, it's one of my favorites. The introduction of him carrying the log, and the last 30 minute assault on the compound are primo for a mid 80's actioneer. I also like Rae Dawn Chong as the love interest, I didn't appreciate it when I was younger, but she was sexy enough to make it believable, and had enough of a comic girl next door charm to enjoy her on screen, without wishing they'd cut back to Arnold too much.
I think it's my fourth favorite Arnold film - 1) The Running Man, 2) Terminator 1, 3) Red Heat, 4) Commando, 5) then maybe Predator.
-
P.I.P., db2431.

True, legendary phoshopper, video maker and wordsmith, born too early for his skills to have been fully appreciated here.

Better than "Citizen Kane"? Really?
Universally acknowledged as the greatest film ever made although I haven't seen it from start to end in a single sitting due to nodding off in front of it. It's a riveting piece of cinematic art when I'm not falling asleep.

I bought it last year and cannot watch it thru due to it being boring twaddle.
I'd go as far as to say it's PURE PISH!!!
-
While we are on this subject why does Raw Deal get overlooked? For entertainment its a great movie and the body count is stupidly high like Commando yet nobody ever mentions it

Cannot speak to Asian flick "Internal Affairs"
For me, I like The Departed due to Boston location and Scorcese touch. I'm from New England and have spent plenty of time in Boston which added to film's appeal.
-

It was a remake. The Infernal Affairs writers were credited and paid.

F'n amazing film, as is Casablanca, The Third Man, Treasure of the Sierra Madre, White Heat, High Noon, a few Hitchcock flicks, and a shitload of other old school b&w classics. Ask Wes.
Modern best, just watch the entire Coen's catalogue. Their worst is 10X better than most directors' best: Blood Simple, Raising Arizona, Miller's Crossing, Barton Fink, The Man Who Wasn't There, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, O Brother, Where Art Thou? A Serious Man, Burn After Reading, No Country For Old Men, True Grit, Inside Llewyn Davis, and all their also rans = perfect, or damn close.
No better living filmmakers, without question.
Kubrick, Polanski, Scorsese, Jewison, Lumet, Friedkin, DePalma, Spielberg, Fincher, Tarantino, Nolan, Mann, Demme, Aranofsky, PT Anderson, Bennett Miller, John Hillcoat, Andrew Dominik, Sam Mendes, Eastwood (at times), et al. - these are the more recent masters. Coppola was a limited genius, four or five masterpieces but blew his wad pretty quick. Nothing special since Apocalypse or Dracula, it's been decades. Adding Brad Anderson as a personal fave, more hits than misses.
So stop with these silly second-rate Arnold moneygrabbers. They're dogshit, all things considered. Credit for his Cameron collaborations, though, quality efforts. The rest are retarded popcorn jerkoffs, deal with it.

Bennett was the true star in Commando. Matrix was just a minor character.

Obvious Leonardo DiCaprio mancrush.
Guy is solid actor who works with my favorite director. Hated him during Titanic era but was proven wrong as his career progressed.

Fanatic probably more accurate

Always wondered what that gun would be like to shoot. Must kick like a mule.
Friend of mine had it for a while, put many rounds through it (via recharge mostly, very rare to find)... Even though it's gas operated, just like the DE, it kicks more, i would say around a 6 inch .44 Mag revolver, maybe a bit bit more... The .475 Wildey Mag is more powerful than the .50 Action Express, but the Survivor's reliability is so so, the gas system is hard to adjust... In the end it's a super pricey unique piece to have in a collection, but in the magnum semi-auto world, the Desert Eagle is king and better, better design, more accurate, much more reliable (at least the older IMI marked ones, the new IWI/Kahr Arms ones seems worse from what i heard)...
-
Escape from Alcatraz
one of the best movie ever? No.
Shawshank is far better.

Same here x2, prefer Jackie Brown over Pulp Fiction...Guy is solid actor who works with my favorite director. Hated him during Titanic era but was proven wrong as his career progressed.
Di Caprio is one of the greatest actors alive, period... Lots of things changed since Titanic and his babyface days, and even then his acting was good... THE AVIATOR is a masterpiece, he's superb in it, one of the very best movies ever made, imo...
-
Any movie you leave on while channel surfing is a good movie.

I gotta admit that DeCaprio was very very good in J. Edgar Hoover and Inception as well.....and wait...now that I think of it..he was also awesome in Django unchained

LOL. Predator wasn't even Arnie's best movie. T1 and T2 are clearly his standout films.
After that, it's a toss up between Conan, Total Recall and Predator.
I would put True Lies alongside Commando, Red Heat, Raw Deal etc as one of Arnie's enjoyable but less stellar movies.

Pretty sure the OP wasn't serious, fools.

Pretty sure the OP wasn't serious, fools.
I just realized that the pic was from Commando. I honestly thought it was from Predator which is clearly the superior movie.
Commando was in the "so bad it's good" category. :D

I will give my top 3
The Godfather
One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest
Rocky

A Clockwork Orange has to be mentioned.
Cinema Paradiso should get a mention.
Many others mentioned here are in my top 20 films of all time.

Exactly, basically he hasn't failed a single movie since ages, not that he ever failed one... Always top acting, in my opinion he's up there with Nicholson, Brando, young De Niro and few others...

you make a good point....interm of box office and critical acclaim you can make the case that he is right up there with DeNiro and Brando....especially with his portrayal of J. Edgar which I thought was going to be a disaster and which turned out awesome......
and I didn't even see Wolf of Wall Street yet or Shutter Island..you see those?

Shutter Island yes, intricated movie, top acting from Di Caprio of course... Wolf Of Wall Street no, for now... Did you see The Aviator?

Make point to see both.
Shutter Island is unique and will keep you guessing until the end.
Wolf is worth watching for Jonah Hill portrayal of Dennis Azoff alone. He made the movie for me. The soundtrack is also great per usual Scorcese. Dicaprio wife in film maybe most facially perfect white chick I can think of. Dicaprio acts as narrator and lead character in film. It was panned by many due to feelings of hatred many felt for Dicaprio and Hill characters after first viewing IMO.
To me measure of great movie is discussions it generates after seeing.....Wolf is movie that many have strong opinions about. Love it or hate it you will talk about it later.
-

Shutter Island was great, but it was better when it was called The Ninth Configuration.

Awesome movie
Scarface is SO overrated.
Watch "Donnie Brasco" and you will realize how bad Heat, Scarface, and Scent of a Woman really are.

Buddy, I SO don't feel that when I watch DB. Scarface is amazing, Pacino at his best.

No, Pacino peaked with Godfather I and II.
Scarface and Heat are way too overacted for me.

Donnie Brasco the book was good, but it's not like the movie put the movies above to shame. Heat and Scarface were both very good in their own right.
-

Showgirls garnered tons of discussion.
Wolf of Wall St. was OK. Nothing spectacular, nothing original, but entertaining. Read both books before I ever knew it would be a movie. Not saying the books were that much better (even though that's usually the case).
Wolf of Wall Street was what it was - good book, decent movie portrayal.
-
Pacino did a good job physically and manner wise with the Ruggerio, you can hear the real Ruggerio here -
.
The voice is much different, but the flourishes, etc.... are all pretty good, film to real.
-
No, Pacino peaked with Godfather I and II.
Scarface and Heat are way too overacted for me.
Have to disagree, sorry. Dog Day, Serpico, Scarface, And Justice, Carlito's Way, Insomnia, all as good as anything, IMO.
-

He's good in Carlito's Way, I meant to mention that one. He's maybe slightly above average in Serpico.
Then he's horrible in so many others it offsets his mediocre stuff
-

Certainly not a Pacino fanboy; he's done a shitload of horrible later-year stuff, same as DeNiro, but I stand by the ones mentioned. Also, pretty damn good in Frankie and Johnny (and maybe Sea of Love, too?).
All the legends end up finishing horribly, guy: Ruth, Ali, Holmes, Brando, DeNiro, Pacino, etc., what are ya gonna do?
Exactly why I love Nicholson so much. Very few duds, went out on top.
-
On balance, I think Pacino holds up better than Deniro.

For me Glengarry Glen Ross was he stand out role. So fucking good in that. Couldn't even pick one hole
-
Think it's just because Bob'll do any damn script sent his way?
Yeah, but even more than that, even when it's a shitty film, and Pacino's doing his Pacino thing, it feels like he's at least trying. With a lot of the newer Deniro stuff, it seems like he's more interested in what craft services is serving up, than actually trying to milk anything good out of the script.
-

I thought DeNiro was really good in a support role in American Hustle.
What was that crap football movie Pacino did? Putrid.

Perfect film. Easy ten for me.

Agreed Walter about Pacino... De Niro also it seems that he doesn't even care anymore, didn't make a decent movie with decent acting since ages, as of today he's very overrated...

I'm gonna go with something a lot more recent than the other movies mentioned so far:
Guardians of the Galaxy
I was never a Marvel Comics kid, I just had a better time watching this movie than any I've seen in a long time.
