Title: UFC 182 - Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier!
Post by: Wiggs on December 30, 2014, 01:39:46 PM
Cormier stands a chance but do any of you think he'll do it? I'd lmao if it happened.  I really don't care who wins, I just want a good fight.

Heres a little pregame video for your enjoyment.

Overall, I give it to Cormier. Better size and conditioning.

I don't really know who is going to win.

Cormier has sheer strength, stamina, power behind his strikes and a ridiculous ground game.

Jon Jones has everything.

I am just excited to watch.

Cormier is the better fighter. He beat the heavyweights. Jones couldn't do that I'm sure.

Couldn't agree more.

It will be interesting to see what kind of "package" these athletes can put together, being so deep into retirement.

Based on those pictures, both look to have decent size packages, but Id go with Cormier.

Hard to pick a winner. Cormier should be able to take him down at will. Jones has  better stand up and jui jitsu. Don't know if that will be enough with a ground and pound animal like Cormier.

The only guy who's gonna beat Cormier is a fighter who can hold him off at distance with legs kicks and stop him coming in, but that's very hard when the guy comes at you like a freight train.  I don't see how Jones can even win this without dc loosing his head.
looking forward to this fight

Not sure how Cormier will deal with Jones back peddling with his eye poking bullshit but i'm sure he's well aware of it and has something in store.

Everyone who has tried to avoid it has failed. Its a great technique if the ref gives you the nod to go ahead and keep doing it (which Jones clearly gets every fight)

I will post up links to the fight come show time. I usually post up 2-3 links and a few other members (like hardgainerj) post up a few as well.

Some have even started to call Cormier the Black Fedor, due to his style and rage within the cage.

Let's see how things go down.

It's sad it has to be that way but that's a referee/sports commission issue.

If it's against the rules, enforce it.

Its more like to get into the pocket with Jones, you have to get through his hand or hands sticking out which is very hard to do. Its cheap tactic imo.

Gentlemen,

Feel free to try these links tonight for the Pay Per View portion. Ideally, you should test them by clicking on the links while they air the prelims. If the links work during the prelims, then they should also work for the Pay Per View.

If others have links to UFC 182, please feel free to post them. I know hardgainerj usually posts good material, as does blinky, bradistani and a few others.

Have fun!

Wiziwig.eu got shut down by the government in Spain. They typically would host sportbun's material, which was a great site for Pay per View events. Now that Wiziwig.eu has been shut down, let's see what we can gather.

It is clear as day that Jones has much longer reach than Black Fedor, but reach isn't everything.

If Emelianegro managed to get up close and personal and take Jones down, the reach won't be as much of a factor.

Jones will probably get a rematch with Alexander Gustafsson. Gustafsson has proven to be Jones only real true threat to this point. If Jones can beat him again, it's time for him to move up to the heavyweight class because he has nothing else to prove at 205.

I so want to see him destroyed. That Swede will do it. Jones extreme height advantage against his opponents is his ticket. He didn't have that with Gustafsson and we saw what happened.

That's because Dana + The Fertittas really messed up: On the one hand they've devised a model that is unsustainable, most of the money goes to the promoters/UFC while the fighters get diddly shit; and on the other hand they are trying to get rid of the competition as if that was the only way to compete. I mean, look at Dana White, would you like to work for that fat fuck? Who would?

There's no money in MMA, and their push to make the sport global isn't attracting local talent because there isn't money in it. And, to top it all off, the fights they do have are gradually becoming lamer by the minute, with moves that show/attract nothing. And some of the fights are such miss-matches that the only way to get them to happen and be sort of economically beneficial is to first put up a huge advertising campaign and then let the vastly annoying Rogan shout his fucking way through it.

UFC = dead end for MMA.

Its more like to get into the pocket with Jones, you have to get through his hand or hands sticking out which is very hard to do. Its cheap tactic imo.

Yet, the other fighters do nothing to attack his extremities. He is fast, but he opens up when he goes on attack mode. I always use this analogy: How do you eat a soft shell crab? You start with the legs and work your way to the body.

I highly suspect that Jones is the type of fighter whose skills will eventually get exposed by someone totally unexpected and the other fighters will go "why didn't I think of that?!". Kind of like Weidman vs. Silva. Chris makes Anderson seem like an average fighter, yet we know he isn't THAT good.

Mark my words: Someone's going to beat him eventually and, all of a sudden, Jones is going to start getting beaten left and right because people will then know he's beatable.

Do you think Anderson's skills were "diminishing" when he got his ass handed back to him by CW? Do you think Tyson's skills were on the way down when he lost to Buster Douglas right after the later lost his mother and was in I-don't-a-shit mode?

No, it has nothing to do with "aura". Take a look at what Mike used to say about the majority of boxers he knocked out:

So what was so special about Buster Douglas that made him unaffected by Tyson's aura that was the undoing of so many other established and experienced pros that got destroyed by Tyson? How did Tyson develop such an aura that overcame his opponents when he was 19 and still relatively unknown?

So what was so special about Buster Douglas that made him unaffected by Tyson's aura that was the undoing of so many other established and experienced pros that got destroyed by Tyson? How did Tyson develop such an aura that overcame his opponents when he was 19 and still relatively unknown?

I don't know what it was, but in some of the fights you could tell who was scared and who wasn't. In the first fight against Ruddock Mike, allegedly, looked at Razor during the stare-down and told him "You know I'm going to kill you right?," to which the taller fighter responded "I know".

What? I didn't get that at all! Ruddock looked very willing to take on Tyson. Tyson had already lost to Douglas and his "aura" of invincibility was shattered. Ruddock lasted a lot longer than most of Tyson's opponents and the fight was stopped in the 7th round. A stoppage that most felt was premature.

To say that Ruddock went into that fight "knowing" that he will "get killed" is simply not true. If it was as obvious as you claim it was why hasn't anybody else, any commentators and experts, make that same observation?

I know how to handle him? Dude, 99% of the people he's fought lose the fight before they step into the ring. The Jones aura is bigger than Silva's.

Mark my words: Someone's going to beat him eventually and, all of a sudden, Jones is going to start getting beaten left and right because people will then know he's beatable.

Not at light heavyweight he won't.

His competition is simply too small and will never overcome his reach. And we've seen what happens when he fights someone closer to his own size, so he'd just be another so so fighter at heavyweight.

I'm kinda rooting for Cormier.

But I wouldn't mind seeing Jones win. I think both fighters.
They are both fighters, but I think Cormier will outsize him.

Not sure if he will match this form of his though!

UFC return of CroCop in April  :o

return of the "constanty circling around the opponent so that he can excute the classical right high round kick of his, but has already been figured out and his muay thai style of fighting will not work in the modern world, ever"

crocops highlight reel is awesome tho!
