Filmmaker Michael Moore took to Twitter Sunday afternoon to share his opinion with followers that combat snipers are “cowards.”
Moore’s words came amid a record-breaking box office weekend for Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper, which made its wide U.S. theatrical debut Jan. 16.
He tweeted:
My uncle killed by sniper in WW2. We were taught snipers were cowards. Will shoot u in the back. Snipers aren’t heroes. And invaders r worse
— Michael Moore (@MMFlint) January 18, 2015
The Fahrenheit 9/11 director likely made the comment in reference to Bradley Cooper’s portrayal of Navy SEAL Chris Kyle in the Eastwood-directed film, which has celebrated a $100 million weekend since its nationwide release Friday, and has been nominated for six Academy Awards.
Moore also tweeted Friday to remind followers to watch Selma, and thanked President Barack Obama for holding an official White House screening of the film Friday night.

what was your take on the wall street movie that myers did?

A guy like Michael Moore will create his own hell...far worse than anything even a getbigger can do to him.
-
My guess, he hasn't gotten enough attention lately........ What an asshole.
-
Talks shit about people that could kill him from a mile away, lol.
Michael Moore is a fat piece of shit. Motherfuck him and his whole crew.
-
He is jealous because the sniper movie is breaking all kinds of box office records and making a crap load of millions while neither he nor his crappie movies get any attention these days.

x2 - the lardian region of the abyss is one of the toughest spots in hell. Moore will have to grow his neck beard extra thick to survive.

I wonder what he has to say about his boy Obama and the drones?

Yawn.

I do think this is a subject he should not have commented on...The guy is (was) a military hero...maybe he has a movie coming out to promote and he needs publicity???

Ed Shultz 'Disturbed' by American Sniper
Ed Schultz on Monday bashed American Sniper as "disturbing" and contributing to the culture of "normalizing Islamophobia." The MSNBC anchor warned that the late Chris Kyle was "far more complicated than the hero portrayed in [Clint] Eastwood's movie."
Schultz jeered, "To Kyle, if they weren't Americans, they were the enemy. Unfortunately, some of those feelings have spread into our culture." The Ed Show host lectured, "The public reaction to the movie American Sniper also highlights some of the most disturbing consequences of this war, the normalization of Islamophobia..."
Schultz concluded, "I was disturbed by the movie. I sat there in the movie theater with my wife over the weekend and thought this just underscores how many lives we have ruined because of doing something that was terribly wrong." Schultz often portrays himself as a blue color liberal, a working man fighting for high tariffs and a fair wages.
On Monday, however, he sounded more like his elitist colleague Chris Hayes. In 2012, Hayes admitted that he was "uncomfortable" calling fallen members of the military "heroes."
This weekend, liberal filmmaker Michael Moore ranted that snipers were "cowards." Actor Seth Rogen compared American Sniper to Nazi propaganda

movie studio should be thanking these lib idiots for coming out against the movie.
you'll have people buying tickets online and not even going... just to support the anti-lib movement. I remember reading online for that idiotic Seth Rogan movie... "buy a ticket even if you're not going to attend movie... do the patriotic thing and show NKorea what you really think of them!"
Complete idiocy. See the movie if you like that kind of movie. But don't do it to make a social statement, those are just too fcking pretentious and obvious douchebaggery. I can just hear "Oh, I bought ten tickets and didn't even go, just to show michael moore what I thought of him..."
Mooore probably owns stock in the movie studio. I remember he bought up a shitload of haliburton and military stocks before doing his movies, then used his movies to grow support for them. fcking sheep.

Jason Blaha weighs in.
"Chris Kyle moved a respectable amount of weight but was it a legit deadlift??" ???
-
"The hex bar deadlift puts a little less stress on the lower back allowing less time spent waiting for the spinal erector/lower back to recover. And you don't want that area particularly fatigued when you are out in the field. As a sniper who is spending hours and hours lying prone, and who doesn't really want his lower back to be cramping up when he goes to take a precision shot...I can see this as a viable alternative" - Jason Blaha

a lot of people are very upset. I'm betting Moore owns stock in that studio. People will be buying tickets to see it 5 times just to "punish libs", even if they don't actually go to the theater.
Maybe these studios are learning from the Chik-Fila-zation of America, where people will buy products they don't care for, if it means they're making some sort of political statement. People actually bought ticket to seth rogan crap movie online, and never went, just to "show our enemies how we feel!" We'll see more and more of this now. I can see studios actually paying libs a "consulting fee" quietly, so they'll get on their platforms and criticize their latest movie. "Are we going to make this movie #1, or are we going to let Michael Moore WIN?" LMAO... sheep.

If you want to show the liberals you hate them, then donate that $ to a PAC of Cruz or Rand or Dr Ben. In the armed services there is some brainwashing that is done in order to get you to hate the enemy...this is so that when you go on that battlefield you will not be wishy washy and will show your enemy no mercy because you know he will kill you if you don't kill him first....this is normal.....nothing wrong with hating your enemy...it gives you that killer instinct...
When I was in the army, my superiors would always refer to the russian soldier as "Ivan" and would talk about how he was a super soldier who was ruthless and wanted to take over the United states......it did have the affect of us wanting to kill the Russians before they killed us....same thing with Islam...

Newsbusters and CNS... two top RIGHT WING newspapers with this story. Yep. They want people to get mad at libs, and not run for office, not donate to politicians that will change things - but see a movie from a liberal studio with liberal actors.
Do all of you forget that bradley cooper is a major LIB that had a lot to do with saving obamacare?

Fking sheep. Amazing. In real life, Bradley is oppposite what we see in the movie. Cooper did commercials for fcking obamacare... he's probably the biggest liberal actor of our time... fucking as lib as they come. Amazing.

‘Right now, I wanna kick your ass': Chris Kyle’s friend Dean Cain has message for Michael Moore, Seth Rogen
Dean Cain, widely known as Superman on TV’s Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, was a good friend of Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle — immortalized in the new Clint Eastwood film American Sniper.
So when comments came out against the film and snipers in general — namely from documentary filmmaker Michael Moore and comedian Seth Rogen — he took issue. Moore called snipers “cowards” and claimed that he had an uncle in WWII who was killed by one as justification. Rogen said that the entire film reminded him of a Nazi propaganda piece in the Quentin Tarantino film Inglorious Basterds. The one-two punch was enough for Dean Cain, who directly confronted the two men on Twitter.
As of Monday night, neither Michael Moore nor Seth Rogen have responded to the outburst, and it might be a good idea they didn’t in case there is a chance they ever come across one another in person.
Dean Cain was a star college football player in addition to playing the Man of Steel, and he continues to maintain his physical fitness.
Rogen and Moore aren’t known for that.
One positive that might help that potential face-to-face showdown: both Moore and Rogen have since backtracked their comments concerning the film and Chris Kyle in general.
Moore pointed out that he had never said anything about Kyle, in particular, though the fact his comments targeted all snipers in general did little to appease his detractors.
Rogen backtracked with less of an apology and more of a “media blew my comments out of proportion” statement.
Given Cain’s involvement in conservative causes and his frequent appearances on Fox News, it’s unlikely he’ll buy any of that.
But what do you think, readers? Did Michael Moore and Seth Rogen make the appropriate mea culpas over Chris Kyle and American Sniper, or is Dean Cain right to go after them?

thank you good sir.
Michael Moore bought stock in Haliburton, then made his movies showing how they were profiting from the war... their stock skyrocketed, no doubt in part thanks to his movie portraying them as the bad guy that'll make you rich.
Bradly Cooper is a well-known liberal that helped pass obamacare - and FOX shit all over him for it.
Sienna Miller, the film's leading lady, is a huge cap/trade, global warming shill.
Luke Grimes, also in the movie, is no stranger to onscreen porn... we knew that, right?
Warner Bros/Time Warner... too many liberal charges and actions to even count lol.
And yes, michael moore DOES own stock in warner bros/TW
http://thebluesite.com/2005/11/05/michael-moore-owns-stock-in-halliburton/
This movie makes liberals rich. See it if you want, it has a great message and looks like an awesome flick. But to see it to "show those liberals what's up..." Sheep.

::) I don't know you from Adam, but what you say is absolute BS. I know lots of Soldiers and know a little about Army training. They are nothing like you describe. There is no "brainwashing" to get Soldiers to "hate the enemy." In fact, Soldiers are taught to follow an extensive body of laws of armed conflict, none of which includes hating the enemy. ::)
I don't care what you claim you were taught in 1950s basic training. You don't know what the heck you're talking about.
-
Our soldiers are heroes. I'm sure this is a great movie. I'll definitely watch on RedBox. Looks to be a great movie and one of the rare examples of modern heroics plus a true tragedy. Rare combo in real life, and should be great onscreen, I'm really looking fwd to seeing it.
But this chik-fila-zation of the movie... it's gotta stop lol...
But Moore owns stock in the studio pushing this movie... he's making $$$ off it. He's shitting on this movie in order to motivate repubs to go see a movie they might not see otherwise. Rallying them to "show the left what's up..."
And today, predictably, FOX news and Rush limbaugh can't stop talking about this movie. Hilarious.

Some of us read the book when it came out first remember? ;)

Medal of Honor Recipient Dakota Meyer Blasts Michael Moore’s Comments

Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer criticized Michael Moore for Twitter comments he made Sunday.
Moore tweeted, “Snipers aren’t heroes” on Sunday evening.
Meyer responded to the tweet in a post on Scout.
I’m sure that his grandfather, who died serving this country, is rolling over in his grave knowing that his grandson is using him to justify him calling U.S. servicemen cowards. I’d be willing to bet that at some point during his grandfather’s service, he was watched over by U.S. snipers, and probably had his life saved more than once by U.S. snipers during the war.
I served as a Marine sniper for three years, and I believe the film American Sniper depicted what we do perfectly. A sniper’s primary goal is to eliminate ground threats for U.S. guys on the ground. Is that what a coward is? A person whose goal is to save the lives of his warrior brothers?
No, cowards are people who didn’t have the guts to serve, and are happy to sit back in a free and protected country and call our service members cowards. I find it funny that this Moore guy would only say this after Chris Kyle was killed. I’d have loved to see him say that to Chris’s face.
Meyer suggested Americans boycott “this idiot’s films,” saying he’d never seen one.
“What would I do if I owned a Michael Moore DVD?” Meyer asked. “I’d set it up out back and set my cowardly sniper skill on it.”

I do think it's insane that the way to "defeat" moore is to go see a movie from a studio in which he owns stock. He knows libs aren't flocking to see it... So he makes himself the bad guy, and he's profiting from it.
I do think it's insane that the actor that did the most to sell obamacare to america is suddenly a hero of the right. I can't wait to see Sean Penn play Reagan in a great conservative movie next year. I can see Bill OReilly having Sean Penn on his show to talk about the amazing way Penn espoused conservative values in his acting lol...

I can't wait to see Sean Penn play Reagan in a great conservative movie next year. I can see Bill OReilly having Sean Penn on his show to talk about the amazing way Penn espoused conservative values in his acting lol...
No sane person is going to see this movie to defeat Michael Moore - you might be able to scrounge up a handful of psychos.
Bradley Cooper is not a hero to the right. The character he played may be, IDK. But, he can be a liberal Obamacare lover and still go out of his way to do the best acting performance he can, no? He can still be a supporter of our vets.

Trolling again i see.
I never said i served i said i voluntered. But you know this heck we all know this. Anything not to answer the question. You really have zero integrity huh?
You volunteered. but never served, for a specific unit in the Denmark army? Sheesh. So you repeatedly lie about what country you're from and now you lied about military service. :-\
-
I saw the movie this weekend, American Sniper.
Not a bad movie, but i don't think its as good as many people have said it is. Clint Eastwood took too many liberties in changing the story from what actually happened which tainted the movie quite a bit for me.
That being said.....
What a fucking blow hard. Someone should drop MM off in ISIS controlled territory and he can walk his brave fat ass home.

Keep trying dipshit everyone who reads this thread can see i answered every question truthfully you just pretend it isnt so because you have been exposed as a hypocritical coward. Your are the lowest person on this board. Coach might be stupid but he is a man.
You are not. Go find your balls coward or keep digging the hole you are in deeper.
Pathetic.

Denmark. The International Brigade.
So it turns out that not only did you lie about being from Denmark (or the U.S. or France, or whatever), you also lied about serving in the "International Brigade."
I plugged that name into Google and look what I found: "In the Danish Defence agreement 2005–2009, the brigade was to be dissolved and the Brigade thereby official ceased to exist on February 15, 2005."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danish_International_Brigade
In other words, the International Brigade doesn't even exist. Unless of course you claim to have served (or tried to serve) before 2005?
Let's keep the lies straight here. lol

Michael Moore invokes Jesus in 'Sniper' rant, Todd Starnes fires back
By Todd Starnes
Published January 26, 2015

Clint Eastwood’s “American Sniper” had another jaw-dropping weekend, reaching an impressive $200 million at the domestic box office. Despite the film’s colossal success, liberals like former DNC chairman Howard Dean and director Michael Moore just won’t let “American Sniper” go. Over the weekend, Moore invoked Jesus in a slew of incendiary tweets aimed at dishonoring American soldiers and the Iraq war.
One tweet stated, “Tomorrow's Sunday School (1) What Would Jesus Do? Oh, I know what he'd do -- hide on top of a roof and shoot people in the back!”
He followed that tweet with: “Sunday School: (2) But What Would Jesus Do if he could be a sniper & save soldiers lives by shooting "savages" in the back?”
Fox News’ Todd Starnes sounded off on Monday against Moore. “There was a time when Hollywood and Democrats stood in solidarity with our fighting men and women,” Starnes said. “Folks like Jimmy Stewart and Bob Hope and John Wayne - American heroes. Those days are long gone and our sweet land of liberty has been soiled by the stinking stench of Michael Moore and Howard Dean and their liberal minions.”

Every $million this movie earns, I cry myself to sleep. It's a personal blow to both star liberal actors such as Bradley whatshisname, and movie threater stockholders like michael moore.
you're doing a very patriotic thing by seeing this movie - destroying the liberals in a major way.

what liberties did Clint take exactly???...or would your discussion of this spoil the movie?

Read the book. Oh thats right . . .

Like any movie based on actual events, there are multiple people that are combined into one person. Time lines are shifted to some extent. I watched the movie first then read the book. If you read the book first then there are things in the movie that will make sense that would seem ambiguous if you only watched the movie. That being said its difficult at best to pack a career spanning a decade into a 1 1/2 hr movie.
I assume you have seen blackhawk down, same thing.
-
The sniper was a composite of a few snipers. The fake baby was stupid. The scene w the wedding and 9/11 was mish mashed sort of too. The book was better but the shooting scenes on the roofs - damn that was intense.

Eastwood's stuff is always like that. amazingly cool idea, but little shit along the way because he one-takes everything. The sniper's pinky moving the baby on camera, that's just stuff anyone else would catch. Eastwood is an old man, he has no time for 75 takes.

My issue is more with hollywood liberties than problems with time lines.
Some examples:
- Shooting the kid
- The Butcher
- Biggies Death
- The 2100 yard shot
Btu like i said, it was a good movie, well acted, well shot.

1) Shooting the kid, I don't recall him saying that in the book so yes all hollyweird
2) The Butcher, seems like a combination of people from raids he was involved in
3) The person who Biggles is based on did die, but it was later after Kyle had retired
4) Not sure on the distance, but he may have made a 2100 yard shot, but it wasn't under the circumstances depicted in the movie.
The movie had 2 sides the war side then the effect on his personal life, thought it was good.

That's what i mean. They hollywooded those things. Did he need to shoot the kid in the movie? What actually happened seemed impacting enough. With Mustafa and the Butcher it looked like they felt they needed villains that were constant through out the movie. I wouldn't have a problem with this, but American Sniper is supposed to be a "true" story. Same with Biggies death which was used to fuel Kyle's revenge and it got his other friend killed. Too much hollywood. I give this a 7.5 out of 10. I think Clint could have done a better job with this. It looks like he might have caved in on some studio pressure since Jersey Boys was a crappy movie.

The thing with the book which I liked was how matter of fact it was wo the drama. I wish that was more emphasized but I get it - its a movie and not a documentary.
Personally I liked the book a lot more but the movie had some really powerful scenese - especially the endless going to war and coming home, the PSTD, etc.

oh definitely a hero.....but if I had a wife and kid back in the states I don't know if I would want to be constantly leaving them for 4 tours..he had a good wife but oftentimes the wife begins to stray......imagine the stress he'd be under if that had happened???....when I was in the Army guys would get "dear John" letters all the time and you could always tell because a guy would open up a letter then would disappear....the next thing you know, they would be in the bathroom or in a corner crying

MICHELLE OBAMA DEFENDS ‘AMERICAN SNIPER’
First Lady Michelle Obama spoke out against critics of American Sniper on Friday, saying the film is a “complex, emotional depiction of a veteran and his family.”
Obama appeared alongside the film’s star, Bradley Cooper, at an event for the Got Your 6 organization at the National Geographic Society in Washington on Friday. Got Your 6 “works to normalize the depictions of veterans on film and television to dispel common myths about the veteran population.”
Obama said she had watched American Sniper on a recent plane ride back from India and Saudi Arabia, according to the Hill.
“I had a chance to see American Sniper this week on that long flight we took,” Obama said. “While I know there have been critics, I felt that, more often than not, this film touches on many of the emotions and experiences that I’ve heard firsthand from military families over these past few years.”
“Now I’m not going to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen it,” Obama continued, “but this movie reflects those wrenching stories that I’ve heard – the complex journeys that our men and women in uniform endure. The complicated moral decisions they are tasked with every day.”
Since its record-breaking release earlier this month, American Sniper has been bombarded by critics on the left.
Seth Rogen tweeted that the film reminded him of the Nazi propaganda film included in the movie Inglorious Basterds. Michael Moore called snipers “cowards.” Both men have since tried to walk back their remarks.
Howard Dean became the latest to criticize the film when he recently called people who watched it “very angry.” Dean later apologized to veterans, but maintained that he will “make no apologies” to “thousands of right-wing nut jobs.”
Still, the film’s success at the box office is a testament to its popularity; on Thursday, numbers tracker Box Office Mojo predicted American Sniper would easily take the top spot at the box office for a third weekend in a row. The film has already broken several box office records and has grossed roughly $217 million in the U.S. in its first two weeks of release.
Cooper also spoke at the Got Your 6 event, noting that at a recent screening, a veteran stood up after the film ended and thanked him for “getting it right.”
“The content we create can have a big impact,” Cooper said, according to USA Today. “American Sniper is an example of that. It’s not just a story about a soldier, but a family.

Iraqi's reacting enthusiastically to American Sniper
American Sniper opened at Baghdad’s Mansour Mall theater earlier this month, but after just a week, it was pulled from screens because, as one theater employee told a reporter working for the GlobalPost, “the hero of this film boasts of killing more than 160 Muslims.” Another major movie theater in the city decided not to show the film “for fear of inciting protests and violence.”
But before it was yanked from the theater, one Iraqi man named Gaith Mohammed said that it played to full and enthusiastic crowds. “Some people watching were just concentrating, but others were screaming ‘Fuck, shoot him! He has an IED, don’t wait for permission!!’” he said of one of the film’s many tense scenes.
“I love watching war movies because especially now they give me the strength to face ISIS,” he continued, saying he did not find anything anti-Arab about the film. “No, why? The sniper was killing terrorists, the only thing that bothered me was when he said he didn’t know anything about the Quran!”
But a government ministry employee named Wael said he’s happy the film is no longer showing in Baghdad. “To some extent, I considered it against all Muslims,” he said. “The sniper, he has a chance to hit the child and his mother in their foot or anywhere without killing them, but he didn’t because he’s bloodthirsty like all the American troops.”
One area of Iraq that continues to show the film to appreciative crowds is Kurdistan, with the film opening strongly in the Kurdish cities of Irbil, Suleimaniya and Dohuk (though it reportedly trailed the box office receipts of Taken 3).
“The Kurds don’t like the Baghdadis that much so they have no big problem seeing them getting shot by an American,” one Iraqi film executive told Deadline. “So far, the film is working well for our screens in Kurdistan.”
Another Iraqi university student who saw the film before it was pulled told the GlobalPost that he was upset theaters were no longer showing it, but revealed that pretty much anyone in Baghdad can see it if they really want to. Many of his friends, he said, had already illegally downloaded it to watch at home.

TEXAS CELEBRATES CHRIS KYLE DAY
(http://a.abcnews.com/images/US/GTY_chris_kyle_2_kab_150120_16x9_992.jpg)
Today marks "Chris Kyle Day" in Texas as Gov. Greg Abbott is set to make a proclamation in the Navy SEAL's honor this afternoon.
The announcement comes on the second anniversary of Kyle's death and less than two weeks before his alleged killer's trial is scheduled to begin.
Kyle, the central character in the movie "American Sniper," is widely recognized for having made the highest number of confirmed kills in American military history. He was fatally shot at a gun range in Texas in 2013, allegedly by Eddie Ray Routh.
