Trying to be good at 3 or more it is pretty hard imo.
I've seen some videos where people claim to speak a bunch of languages, but practicing the same stuff over and over it's not same as being eloquent and able to hold conversations.
But don't get me wrong, I know some guys are really good when it comes to learning a new language, so it's easy for me to believe someone can be good at 3-5. But 7 or more languages? I think very few people could do it, even if they wanted, 'cause I don't see the point in learning so many languages but to each their own.

i'm fluent in 3. i'm guessing same as you, italian, english and spanish.
so i think you'd agree that if you spent just a few months in france, you'd pick it up fairly easy, that's be 4 right there, then if you worked a bit you'd get german.....etc.
i can believe he was fluent in 7 yes, but not proficient in each and not academically.
i learned 3 without even really trying but just because life circumstance.
with him having Egyptian family, while being raised in germany and former yugoslavia, then moving here and traveling the world, i can see it easy.

Had a university degree, was fluent in 7 languages and chose to inject oil into his arms as his career path.... :-\

Nope, just spanish and english. But I've started studying french on my own so I think that any more than that would be really hard.
Yeah, I guess if you have the opportunity to live in different places around the world, then it would be easier to learn new languages.
I totally can believe Nasser spoke 7 languages, but just wanted to hear opinions anyway. :)

plus all romanic/germanic languages are pretty similar... latin, english, german, italian, french, spanish etc all have similarities because they all root in the same proto language
im german, learned english from age 4 on, had latin from 5th grade on at school, then learned italian and french at school too
so thats 5 languages learned for >2 years and spoken fluently by the time i was 18
its really not that hard when you have a bit of talent regarding linguistics

That's impressive. In real life I know just one girl who speaks three languages (spanish, english and french). Hard to tell how good is french is cause I don't speak it but her english is pretty much perfect (she lived in the US for some years).
