Title: Mr. Olympias of the future. What will their physiques look like?
Post by: Wiggs on January 27, 2015, 06:02:38 PM
Assuming Christ doesn't return,  ;) ;D  what do you think Mr. O's physiques will be like in the future?  Will physiques get more extreme? Will there be a reset button pressed? Will the format be the same? Posing? Drugs, Training, Diet? Ideas?  Let's say the year is 2030.

I would seriously doubt if there will even be a mr. Olympia contest in 2030

As far as numbers goes, bodybuilding right now is bigger than ever.

I think competitors will continue to get bigger and freakier at a slow pace.  I think there will always be some kind of draw for mass monster bodybuilding, as weird as it may be.  And science in the coming years will probably allow for more play as far as pushing the limits on how much muscle one can carry.  I would think in the next 5-10 years a handful of Ramys will show up.  I think it's disgusting, but thats my prediction on where it's headed.  Guys would have to start dropping dead on stage before the industry would even think about reversing.

it's going to take longer than 15 years and during that time pro bodybuilding will continue to decline while medical advancement as well as a new perspective on life enhancing substances begins to take root as they become safer. once we get past all that bullshit and everyone is on something and living longer and retirement age is raised to 90, then pro BB will be less stigmatized and it will slowly re-ascend.

Black.

This was predicted by Afrodomus (who predicted the "natural" of the 1960s) the seer of prognosticators, son of the prognosticator of seers, Astrodomus (who predicted indoor football stadiums with retractable domes).

Black is the new black and all competitors must be black either by birth or by conversion via shit-dipping themselves.  It's a fact that the Greek Heero, Achilles (that was his slave name, his true Hebroic name was Axilleze), was dipped in the River Shits by his mammy which made him total blacknessified and invulverated to penetration by the weapons of mens 'n' sheet.

if the current trend continues, the Mr Olympia will only be 12.5 inches wide by 2030.

Let me suggest that the "sport" of bodybuilding to look like the proverbial superhero has seen it's day. In the future, most bodybuilders as we have known them will either be very old or not so old and dead as a result of having pumped their bodies full of steroids and oils.

People who exercise and diet for good health will be the future of bodybuilding. The extremist will become obsolete  and sadder clowns then they already are....think Rich Piana and others of his ilk.

No, didn't know about it.  What did it say?
They had a photoshop pic of Ronnie and and Gunter, well over 300+ or 400 plus on stage. They were talking about the drugs. Better drugs, etc.

I think the schmoes have helped kill it. I also think that the judges, drugs and corruption have helped kill it as well. This "extremism for extremism sake is not good. Judges not doing their jobs and not marking down for guts. Also, Ronnie was the last. Jay was a mediocre Mr. O. he had size, but he lacked a back and was no Ronnie. we could say that Dorian+Ronnie +Jay were contirbuting factors. And the male physiques have helped as well, they will slowly take over, and they will slowly get bigger. It is only natural.

Before Ronnie became the freak he was i don't think anyone thought someone could show up like he did so big and with a small waist. Obviously his waist got bigger and had stomach distertion in later years but those early years 1998-9 he was like nothing seen since.

as long as homosexuality and sons without fathers exist, there will be bodybuilding and contests.

The majority will keep getting bigger, and bigger till more bust out from all the exotic drugs, then either some enterprising reporter or casual fans will point it out (ala wrestling). Then they'll back off a bit in the guise of cleaning up the sport, then after a few contests, it will be back to business as usual.

The actual winner will still be the biggest guy that is still a bit more symmetrical than the rest.

after Ronnie, I think no one wanted to challenge that. The work ethic is not there, not really the genetics. You had your anomalies, like Dex.
The guys who are in their 20s-30s come from a different era. And I believe it's how they grew up, it's part of today's culture to be a slacker, mediocrity is the norm, and being truly exceptional and putting in hard work is laughed at.

Bodybuilding in 2030 will be roughly the same as it is now - the top physiques won't have changed much because I think we've reached a peak with how far steroids and GH etc will take you. It will only change when they harness genetic engineering or be able to manipulate myostatin on an affordable industrial scale to take you to the next level, then you'll see physiques change.

There will be a Mr Olympia contest - in 1965 when Larry Scott won there were probably people who thought it wouldn't last when there were only ever half a dozen guys competing at these things. There was no money in bodybuilding in those days, now look at it - you've got people like DLB making money just from taking selfies and doing training camps as an offshoot addition to the "sport". Entrepreneurs are cropping up all over the place and as long as there are stupid gullible teenagers buying fancy supplements with bright packaging then bodybuilding will thrive. Look at all the products you can buy now compared to 15 years ago - where there is money to be made, people will follow.

I don't think the drug induced growth of bodybuilders will stop, it will just get smaller in magnitude. Instead of seeing 20 - 30lbs jumps in weight, you probably see someone figure out some protocol that will add #5, or #7, or some other tiny jump, and you see everyone chasing that.

This.
It will be similar to what it is now but with the average competitor probably around 5lbs heavier.
