beat drug addiction in a similar timeframe. Reading the Mike Mentzer thread again that just got bumped made me sad. Really it's 2015 and we are still stuck with the same old methods for trying to treat drug addiction? With all of modern science and new understandings of the brain and neurochemistry and neurobiology in the last 50 years we are still stuck with the old you gotta want to change "rehab" model? It's just plain sad. There is nothing that can be given to addicts to "immunize" them from the effects of the drugs so no matter whether they use or not they won't get any effect? There is nothing we can do to "rejuvenate" their brains back to a no addict state?
I think we have the technology. It is a goal worthy of spending some serious time, money and effort on, similar to the moon landing. We'd save many times as much on prison and medical costs.
All those lives thrown away. Put Google or Facebook or Amazon in charge of it or something, they get shit done.

big business is nobody's friend.

Posting on getbig is the first step in making a big change in modern society. You're on the right path.
Maybe consider using a synthol heading or 2 guys fight over which would wear the sparkly pink thing for the "big show". You will double your views.

At least they seem to get something done, unlike the current situation with big government. If they came up with something to cure drug addiction or inoculate against it, I'd line up for the vaccine.

What am I, Bertrand Russell? I just read the Mentzer thread and it made me sad. I'm no Steve Jobs.

Seems they've focused a lot of post-moon technology on perfecting the paper-towel dispenser in public restrooms. Still plugging away.

The first drug addiction we need to treat is the abuse of steroids and associated illegal substances that bodybuilders often use. We have all seen the negative side effects of such use, most notably "Roid Rage." (Craig Titus). The rampant steroid use in America, especially in sports, is destroying this great country. We need to take a stand.

Darwinism.
Perhaps, but it doesn't seem to prevent reproduction. Possibly increases it.

it's not the drugs. it's the addictive personality.
every druggie out there would be hooked on alcohol, sex, My little pony collecting, getbig, cookies, painting sunsets, MMA, or whatever else.
Anyone with addict in their blood will tell you. The urges never leave, you just have to turn them into new outlets.
-
It helps if the addict has a good life. If the poor guy can only feel good when he is coked up, he is going to seek out the cocaine. If he has a job that is good, has no reversals or strife in his life, it is much easier to not buy that cocaine.

Having 200 My little Pony's isn't addictive. I know people with over 400. 200 (209 to be exact) is what everyone has.

that is completely false. big business is destroying our government.
propaganda has created that impression in your mind.
and i'm not trying to insult you.

big business (big pharma) is the governement, they re the same.

None of you dummies have even mentioned "Ibugain" (sp?)
Big Pharma will never allow it though.
-
The moon is responsible for most drug addiction - look it up.

I have heard of Ibogain. I think that's the point. I've heard a lot more about the iPhone 6 than Ibogain. I can get an iPhone easily, but not something to help with addiction.

would have thought Iphone would have an app for addiction!
Well... time to feed mine here, burn one down and go back to bed...

ok i'll go with that. which means our government has already been destroyed, usurped and/or otherwise been taken over. we just might have to go back 100s of years to find the last time our government wasn't a facade.

yeah, anyone that has that in their blood will always have an addiction. I picked up guitar as the only way to turn off OCD in 7th grade. Urges are always gonna be there, always gotta be addicted/driven/urges on something.

The NASA moon landings were possible because NASA was able to tightly control the variables with the rocket flight and crew.
Unless you lock someone in a sealed room , with tightly controlled visitation , it is near impossible to totally monitor human behavior.
Having said that, I did a summer research study as grad asst flunky for a chemistry prof who did research in drug addiction treatment.
We looked t the effects of chemical analogs * ( similar compounds to addictive drugs).
In simple terms, you start with a drug structure VERY similar and then tweek , so the addict eventually weans off the drug.
The area I worked on, was with cocaine addicts.
The initial results with lab mice showed promise , but I have no idea what they are doing with human treatments, now as this was the 1990's.
The reality is that most drug addiction isn't limited to a chemical cause and effect.
That is only true long after the person has been using the substance and built up an addiction on the cellular level.
Most people use drugs and booze to cope with issues , escape reality or get some euphoric effect.
The root cause to START using drugs is more emotional / psychological needs then physical.
Conclusion - There are a lot of dysfunctional people out there along with those who function ok, but need something to cope.

nah. people that love drugs/drink... they use it to feel better when they're down. They use it to enhance the times when things are going really well. they use it when they're bored. ya never need a reason, you just know it's been so long since using it, and hey, it's just time.
that's what addicts do. maybe there are weekend users but they're not addicts, per se.
