I wonder how much richs autograph is worth.
-
JOJ has one of the freakiest upper bodies I've ever seen. Fuck.
-
Not really an army, looks more like it's just barely platoon size. On the plus side, the beat at #3:45 or so in, is kind of nice.
-
Trying to figure out who his target market is
-
Sort of comical how these over sized pretty boys try and replicate the hardcore biker scene look with this rip off 5% nonsense, wannabe tough guys at their finest.
-

No joke and looked so much better than those with PMMA and synthol!
-
Several things shocked me after seeing him at the expo and his seminar:
1. His videos do not properly capture how big Rich is in person. Rich has other large people is his videos. Seeing him stand next to average people is startling.
2. He is 1000% more popular that I anticipated. He had long lines at his booth all day on Saturday, and tons of people at the expo wore his gear. It's amazing how people can make themselves into instant celebrities from scratch merely by social media self-promotion.
3. He is magnanimous and giving with the public and his fans.
4. He does put his money where his mouth is by giving back to the industry by losing money on his contests.
I am not a five-percenter because I am lifetime natural lifter with no access to steroids.

Want a picture? Let me just bring my arm out closer to the camera and give a thumbs up!
-
Rob Bailey and Piana have the dumbest haircuts in the industry
-
Something tells me the OP wears them lady boy panties....
-

With social media now, it's about the "image". Keeping it "real" is a misnomer, for it is the fantasy that is sold. So, it tells you a lot about the fanbase. Remember, Ritch couldn't get his pro card, and didn't have the genetics for big arms relative to his size, so he had to go the PMMA route, got the tats, and now is "known". So, basically he has accomplished nothing, yet presents the image that he is "something". Just think about that for a sec.
I can give him this, he has marketed himself well.

I started to write "Why all the hate..." and then I remembered where I was.
He seems like a pretty cool dude. They all do.

Looks just like an ape. Would love to line up a bitch slap accross Rob's and Piana'a stupid lookin' faces.
-

Key word there. Seems and is are two different things. One has to play the part and act like one is---you have a product and image to sell.
There is no hate. He captured his share. Getbig bags on Phil for acting like he does because he actually has done something. But, no one gives Rich the grief because we know he hasn't accomplished anything like Phil and Kai. This tells you a lot about his army and his followers. People who want to be winners so much, that they have to "pretend" that they are. And follow and try to emulate them.
This shows how great America is (or how far we have fallen). You can become a winner and earn money by pretending to be a winner.
-
They all look like a bunch of weirdo's. Honestly
-
:-X
Holly Fuck, Piana's got a GH Cro-Magnum Head.
-
looks like an advertisement for saudi arabia's national oil company
-
Where's Matt Tsinkorang? I think he's part of the 5% /mutant crew.
-
seeing jj in the yellow t shirt is so inspirational no homo. makes you want to shoot 3 ccs into each glute and hit the gym.
-
There was actually a time where bodybuilding was dignified and had some class. These two and their followers are one of the prime examples of why this industry is fucked.

JOJ thicker than 1.5 Pianas. And Shawn Ray cooler than the other side of the pillow.

Very well said.
-
Pretty sad, I guess if rich Piana, not the poster, had kept it normal - just drugs and training he would be a pretty cool looking dude.
Don't get the fillers in the lips... is this some "hellboy prison shower" based character coming from Marvel due to pressure from the Obama administration...
Oh, and Rob looks more punchable than Brandon Fraser... which is quite an achievement.
-
Would never take a friend or family member to something like this, id be too embarrassed. They all look ridiculous and that hand shake forearm pose thing is out of control
-
I'm gonna say two things. 1 bad and 1 good.
Bad: I think that Rich's tattoos are excessive and do not look good.
Good: I like the fact that Rich is smiling and having a good time. He seems to be friendly & approachable.
-

Like this Swole fat dude that had to come to the show in a tank top to show off is 16" fat arms
-
Which mental institution they escaped from? All these tattoos, just too much.
Lol.. a skinny guy rolling in with a bentley would make them all feel like a complete failures.
Rish seems to be a nice guy, I have nothing against him, just stating the obvious.
-
I gladly missed the last two LAFitness shows. The people who buy the tickets have painfully extracted themselves from their home gaming and porn screens just to gather together like lemmings under one roof. The true fit are few and far between. OK there are some MMA dudes, MA dudes and cheerleaders in the mix.
The bodybuilding shows are also freak conventions, anorexic bikini girls who drag along everyone from their Facebook, wannabee muscle minions, and corporate supplement hacks.
Dayum has the sun ever set on our "sport" or what?
-
have to disagree with you lot.
i think he's doing the right thing, he's spot on in everything he does. its not about competetive bodybuilding, it never was. it's about being a freak, a comic book type character and he nails it.

LMAO! :D ;D

Those arms are looking so weird.
-
i dont get the percentage thing though
is 1% those who compete 5% those who use oil 25% those who use steroids 50% those who are gay or how does it work
-

I believe it's 5% homosexuals across the globe. That's why Bailey is also in the clip...
-

100%. I don't get what's with Rich and DLB constantly trying to portray themselves as hardcore ??? It s lifting weights and dieting ffs nothing tough or hardcore about it.
Arnold, Zane, Draper these fellas ( and others) did work and reaped a reward the joy seemed to be the process whereas the people in the industry today seem to be working out solely to project an image. The fact is anyone who is mentally stable and puts in work at life regardless of physical looks or income can see right through these goofs....
-
it's a natural progression
bodybuilding has always been about vanity, look at me! i am special ! im different ! im stronger, bigger, better.
its just that today with so many people working out you need to go overboard to get the same effect
-
i dont get the percentage thing though
is 1% those who compete 5% those who use oil 25% those who use steroids 50% those who are gay or how does it work
Seriously, all jokes aside, what does the 5% mean? Is it the bodyfat percentage you are striving for? That you are the 5% elite with big muscles and do "whatever it takes" kind of guy.
Just not getting it.
Piana is promoting the industry in a less than desirable way but he does seem like a very affable and approachable "mutant".

Rich discusses haters. His Phd in psychology comes in very handy.

Not going to click the vid, just want to remind you of the eerie similarity to Derek Anthony
-
Chaka, go get Will and Holly.
-
I was there at the L.A. Fit Expo.
I thought Piana looked like a real idiot. He may not be an idiot, but, he looked like every negative stereotype there has ever been about bodybuilders. With his humongous size (which doesn't exactly look muscular it looks puffy), tats everywhere, and his hair, he just looked super weird.
At least Coleman, Cutler, Heath, Rhoden, et al, look like normal people.

But Zira takes the cake, you nailed it.
-
hi ritch
Nope! For the record, I did NOT wait in his line or buy his gear, but I was amazed by how many did.
His seminar was a rehash of some of his videos. He implored those who weren't getting results from eating six meals per day to eat twelve meals per day and do more cardio.
He did not address those of us near his age who've never done steroids because we're not in his five percent club.
-

Funny you should say that..
His face is starting to look puffy IMO

02:03 he can act like it was a play and all, but she could totally destroy hm in a fight. He also fell back looking very nervous and insecure like "I hope everyone thought I was just using 10% of my capability, I hope they don't realise I don't have a chanse if shit really went down"

you're just jealouse because he's swole and has tattoos
I can see the same element in every class. People gather with like minded people for their personal therapy. I had the same phase few years back in a pot circle. For now I don't have any circles.

I get it. I don't have anything against all these bodybuilding hypers neither, to each it's own. But when I see a human monster it doesn't awe me in the least nor am I jealouse ::)
but everybodydy dies at some point. Most people when they get old their bodies deteriorate, kidneys work half of the time, liver problems, heart problems, joint problems and they depend on nurses help with all sorts of medication, cooking, cleaning etc.
Is it better to live like a rock star for 30 years and then die from the same causes earlier,or to live healthy life for decades and then die slowly and painfully anyway.
We are all here once, we all die, everyone here dies.

no emo, I'm not dissing your muscley male idols, I'm just saying that some people don't care if they don't live long when they collect muscle trophies, they accept that death is inevitble. This young blood in my gym started taking all sorts of crap, dreaming to be on a world stage in bodybuilding one day, he said he knows he won't live pass 50 and he doesn't mind.
-
His heart is under a tremendous amount of stress.
-
That trailor trash mullet makes him literally look 15 years older. He looked handsome with short buzzed hair. Made his face look atleast some what approachable. that hair makes him look like an absolute goof, almost like he is being condescending and silly on purpose
-
He doesn't even have muscles, just oil. sad

Mike Mattarazzo, days before he died:
"Oh, God, where do I begin? I'd have to say that everything that led to my heart problem began the minute I started getting serious about competitive bodybuilding. In order to get bigger, I'd eat five, six, seven pounds of red meat a day, no vegetables. And I'd stay away from fruits because of their sugar.
Worst were the chemicals. I have so many memories of being alone in a hotel room the week, five days or two days before a contest, and doing unspeakable things to my body—steroids, growth hormones, diuretics—anything and everything that we as bodybuilders do to achieve a certain look.
It has affected my whole life, so to all those guys who are on an eternal quest to have 21" arms and 20" calves, and who are so vain about their never-say-die attitude, I say, "Change your attitude." Worry about keeping that body of yours as healthy as possible, because it's going to have to last you not just through your next contest or to the end of your bodybuilding contract, but for a long time. And a long time for a human being is nothing. It goes by real quick, even quicker when your health is gone and you have nothing to stand on."

This was not days before he died. He did an interview after his heart surgery in 04.
He had no history of heart disease in his family and wanted to warn others so they didn't end up like him.
-
Trying to figure out who his target market is
Mentally ill midgets, Drug abusers, closet homosexuals, open homosexuals, the pathologically insecure and those cruising for cock.

that makes him alpha ::)
accepting consequence like a mauwn is alpha, throwing a guy accross the room is just demonstration of strength, both need to be in balance, matarazzo clearly lacked the other element completely.Matarazzo was a normal person not an edgy loon.
sucking dick for money to get huge amounts of steroids, gh and purchase 7lbs of red meat a day to get huge, so that you can pose naked on a stage, then trying to convince people it's a huge philosophy and calling people 'haters' when they don't 'get it' is normal :D ???
Matarazzo himself regreted all of that, yet, he did it with great passion. Seems to me his whole life was a just a hick up, a short coming, then he woke up on his death bed realising what a dumb ass he was all of his life. Seems to me he was the one unstable and subnormal.

Ironic how you said it's ultra negative what I said, when I merely described the fundamentals of a pro bodybuilder, not to mention the entire industry lol. I called what it is, I didn't call anyone names ::)

We are all here once, we all die, everyone here dies.
This doesnt really work, because at whatever age you are at, you want to carry on living.
When your 20 and you think better to live like a rockstar and you arrive at 30, you are not going to be thinking, oh well I survived the last 10 years living like a rockstar, its ok now if I die tommorow. You think I want to carry out on living, same at 40, same at 50 same at 60. Some people when they are 80, they think ok I have had enough now, some want to carry on. Most people no matter how crazy their prior life has been dont want to die at 30,40 or 50.

Yeah it's true what you said. But what I meant was, that pro bodybuilding lifestyle, with excessive amounts of drugs, food and stress is unhealthy, and in some cases will lead to very bad health and even death. But still these people do it, just for the look and respect from muscle worshipers. If they were asked to take a pill that would guarantee them the best physique and lifestyle to follow it, but they would die at 50, most of them would take the pill.
This question was asked from olympic athletes one time, would they take a magic pill that would gurantee them gold medal in every competition, but they wouldn't see 60, they all said yes they would take the pill.
These people don't like ordinary life, they visualize perfect life as a constant state of ecstacy and are terrified about not being recognised and idolized.
That's what I'm saying, these guys, sure, their lifestyle is unhealthy and in some cases will reduce their life span, but they don't care, they love that shit, they want to live a fantasy.
-

I would agree with some of your comments, some are aware of the risks, accept those risks and follow their path. Others are so ill informed or uneducated they simply are not aware of the risks, they just think, oh arnold and stallone lived to 60/70 so I'll be alright.
Some guys decision is borne out of the desire to live a fantasy, some borne out of competitive nature, in bodybuilding I would imagine many is initially borne out of insecurity.
