Walker said "That's a question a politician shouldn't be involved in one way or the other" when asked about evolution.
That's a very strong statement right there... either he's not sure what he believes, or he is scared to upset some voting block... but wow, the question is more certainly relevant. The CORE of what a person believes in - yes, that matters. Can't be vague when it comes to our own creation. Say what you believe, man. This is an odd one.

Wisconsin Gov. Walker refuses to answer evolution question
By SCOTT BAUER, Associated Press | February 11, 2015 | Updated: February 11, 2015 4:21pm
MADISON, Wisconsin (AP) — Likely 2016 presidential candidate Scott Walker refused to say Wednesday whether he believes in the theory of evolution, dodging that question and several others about foreign policy after delivering a speech about global trade in London.
"I'm going to punt on that one as well," said Wisconsin's Republican governor when asked about evolution at the end of an hour-long appearance at the prestigious Chatham House think tank. "That's a question a politician shouldn't be involved in one way or the other. So I'm going to leave that up to you."
Walker, an evangelical Christian and the 47-year-old son of a Baptist preacher, also declined to answer a series of questions about foreign policy, including how the West should combat the Islamic State group, whether the U.S. should arm forces in Ukraine and whether it's wise for Great Britain to remain in the European Union.
"I don't think it's polite to respond on policy in the United States when you're in a foreign country," Walker said when asked about Islamic State. "That's certainly something I'll answer in the future."

NOTED.
This way, in the future, when some idiot parrot getbigger says he agrees with Walker on every position, we will know the person doesn't actually know all of Walker's positions.
maybe this is the new ideal strategy... just refuse to admit you believe in anything that divides with the party. "I dont think any politician should answer that..." However, I bet he has no issue delving into deep moral questions when the (R) party has a more unified position on an issue ;)
Nobody can say Walker is different. He's a politician, just like most of the rest.
Cruz or lose.

He's playing in correctly. Still too early in the game to get into specifics.
You're up double digits in a Blue state like California with a Rino in Bush and a Far-Righter in Carson comfortably behind. You've proven you can compete with both flanks.
The impressive lead in Cal gives you the moderate cred. The scalps won against the unions in Wisconsin provides the meat and potatoes for your more conservative base.
Give vague answers on foreign policy and the avoid the Liberal media snipers looking for Comedy Central material on questions like Evolution/Abortion and you likely are right there at the top of the list when debate season opens up.
-

At NO point should it be too early to tell people what you believe when it comes to our own existence on this planet.
I don't know what drives this man, what he will respect and what he will not.
I'm disgusted by "he will let us know how he feels about the big thing... in due time..."
LOL

Hey, I'm right there with you on the laughter. :)
I'm not saying it was MORALLY correct what he was doing.
I'm just saying from a strategic standpoint that's how these things go when someone is trying to pinpoint your position on a controversial topic.
You know how these slime balls (on both sides of the aisle) play their games. 8)

Great answer by Walker. He shouldn't answer stupid questions. I'm starting to like this guy. :)

Repubs could literally put an (R) next to Obama's name and run him in 2016, and most repubs would "start to like this guy".
They sickening way they loved on the self-described "severely conservative" Romney in 2012 lol...

Since this is basically a proxy for a question about religious belief I assume our local fundies who think this is a stupid question would feel exactly the same if a candidate was asked if they believe in God or Jesus.
As Walker said, "That's a question a politician shouldn't be involved in one way or the other"

Obama said something similar to that. Obama punted when he was asked about abortion in the 2008 and 2012 debates in much the same way as Walker punted on the question of evolution. If you are to believe Axelrod Obama lied about his faith and gay marriage. Politicians do this kind of stuff. You can call Walker an idiot but at least acknowledge the hypocrisy of your own actions.

Your intention is to mock Walker for his beliefs. Obama has talked repeatedly about his faith and used his faith to explain his actions. Obama quotes the bible regularly. Obama attended a racist church for twenty years. I'm not religious and I agree evolution is true but this kind of one sided mocking is silly.

Barack Obama In 2008: Bible's Account Of God Creating Earth 'Essentially True' (VIDEO)

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) took some flak earlier this week for playing coy with a question in a GQ interview about how old the Earth was, calling the question a "great mystery" that he was unqualified to answer because of his lack of scientific credentials.
Well, as Slate's Daniel Engber notes, it turns out that the junior senator is not alone in his apparent move to avoid rousing the ire of the nearly 50 percent of Americans who believe in creationism, or the 30 percent who believe the Bible should be taken literally. Such a move was repeated by another junior senator in 2008. That man was Barack Obama, and he was trying to become the next president of the U.S.
Here's then-Illinois Sen. Obama's exchange with CNN's Campbell Brown at a forum on faith in politics:
Brown: Senator, if one of your daughters asked you -- and maybe they already have -- “Daddy, did God really create the world in 6 days?,” what would you say?
Obama: I'm trying to remember if we've had this conversation. You know, what I've said to them is that I believe that God created the universe and that the six days in the Bible may not be six days as we understand it, it may not be 24-hour days, and that's what I believe. I know there's always a debate between those who read the Bible literally and those who don't, and that I think it's a legitimate debate within the Christian community of which I'm a part. My belief is that the story that the Bible tells about God creating this magnificent Earth on which we live -- that is essentially true, that is fundamentally true. Now, whether it happened exactly as we might understand it reading the text of the Bible. That, I don't presume to know.

Rubios answer too. Sound familiar
: I’m not a scientist, man. I can tell you what recorded history says, I can tell you what the Bible says, but I think that’s a dispute amongst theologians and I think it has nothing to do with the gross domestic product or economic growth of the United States. I think the age of the universe has zero to do with how our economy is going to grow. I’m not a scientist. I don’t think I’m qualified to answer a question like that. At the end of the day, I think there are multiple theories out there on how the universe was created and I think this is a country where people should have the opportunity to teach them all. I think parents should be able to teach their kids what their faith says, what science says. Whether the Earth was created in 7 days, or 7 actual eras, I’m not sure we’ll ever be able to answer that. It’s one of the great mysteries.

http://www.politico.com/politico44/2012/08/obama-talks-about-his-faith-132696.html
In an interview with the Washington National Cathedral magazine, President Obama discussed how his faith influenced his politics — saying that at the end of the day 'God is in control.'
“First and foremost, my Christian faith gives me a perspective and security that I don’t think I would have otherwise: that I am loved. That, at the end of the day, God is in control," Obama said.
Obama also tied faith in God to his belief in a compassionate role for government.
(Also on POLITICO: Poll: More know Romney’s religion than Obama’s)
"Faith tells us that there is something about this world that ties our interest to the welfare of a child who can’t get the health care they need, or a parent who can’t find work after the plant shut down, or a family going hungry," Obama told the magazine.
"Faith has always provided a moral framework and vocabulary for this country to come to terms with its most pressing challenges. One of the great things about this nation is that it is a place where people from all walks of life can advocate on behalf of their faith and beliefs and be open about what drives and motivates them," Obama said.

that's actually a pretty well parsed answer for Obama given that the question is basically a political hand grenade
If a christian wants to say they believe we were created by God I have no problem with that. They are entitled to their own religious beliefs just like everyone else.
When they start saying that science supports their belief that's another thing entirely
I didn't notice Obama saying anything about "science" supporting or dictating his belief that we were created by God

Again, I'm fine with that
He's entitled to his religious beliefs and he certainly didn't claim something idiotic like the earth is 5000 years old

I asked you a question and I'll ask again then I need to go to a meeting
I would be fine if we kept all religious questions (and that's what this was) out of politics

You can't believe in creation and evolution without also believing god is responsible for evolution. There should be no religious test of office. This was Walker's entire point of not answering the question.

No Shit Sherlock
I assume if you're a christian that you believe in God
My point was about Walker saying science supports his religious beliefs
how many times have I said this now?
My question was not about a "religious test" but about answering questions about religion or anything to do with it
I'd be fine if we just didn't make that part of the political conversation at all

Yes I disagree, this indicates that he is of low IQ. Smart people often have knowledge in many areas, to not understand the backbone of all of BIOLOGY that is taught in grade seven is absurd. He is unaware of facts, large demonstrable facts. It's like asking does gravity exist
-
Got a link I can look at?
http://talkorigins.org/origins/outline.html#evolution
the evidence is so overwhelming that it in fact has crushed opponents in court, aka creationist morons.
There is no evidence in the history of recorded science/man that refutes it, everything we have found has only solidified it.
It predicts strongly, it predicts things like anti-biotic resistence for example, it predicts where fossils should be found, it predicts what species should have genetic closeness, it's a fact. It occurs and is why we have so many species.
The argument you made and many make is why isn't there a half human half ape, WE ARE APES. A different type, like a lion is different from a housecat, there are no half lion, half housecats, because, they would be worse off and die off thus not passing along the genes.
Humans are great apes that share a long extinct ancestor with common apes. Evolution also takes a massively long time but maintains a slight progression, slight improvements over time. Why is everyone so against the idea? it's a fact. it's been proven.
The eye is a good example of evolution.

If Walker is willing to forego ALL of these issues, and focus solely upon the economy..
if he's willing to let the state deal with all the SOCIAL issues - and he will focus on economy defense, trade...
Then I will support him 100000% Percent.
My fear is that he wants to pick and choose which issues to get involved in. I hope that's not the case - I'll admire the shit out of any president that lets the state handle these issues, and just focuses on the economic stuff. But I fear, in a primary, every candidate will degrade into saying which pledge he/she will sign about marriage, etc... and the usual crap will happen. Candidates will pick/choose which social issues to comment up - based upon numbers/votes.
Would LOVE to see a candidate run for prez without degrading into the smaller issues, I mean fixing the economy/trade/defense SHOULD be his/her focus... but I doubt it.
-
I don't care if the next president is married to a goat, has sex with his dog, and worships a unicorn.
I'd like to keep half the money I make, not be penalized for my success, and not be made to feel like a leper and oppressor because I'm a well-to-do white guy.
Hopefully he won't be friends with Sharpton and other radicals, and won't use the IRS to target those who dare oppose him.
I hope the next president lets the police and military do their lawful jobs, and doesn't turn everything he can into a race riot or PC muslim suckfest at every opportunity.
I hope to be able to have a reasonable degree of confidence that my tax dollars are going more towards keeping me safe from fraud and foreign and domestic terrorists and violent criminals than towards excessive government bloat, crony capitalism, socialist programs and takeovers of private industries, and overall redistribution of wealth.
I'm all for science and scientific advancement. But not paying 90% personal and corporate income tax instead of 50 and 40% in the name of "science", and not allowing big govt to destroy our economy with unnecessary regulations while China and India continue to pollute and profit at our expense.
-
Eh, the minute I like a candidate...
http://host.madison.com/ct/news/opinion/editorial/scott-walker-s-laid-off-teacher-story-turns-out-to/article_54823f49-58de-5e30-9526-6722b3be5f96.html
Walker lied about a teacher of the year being unemployed... according to, well, that teacher of the year. Turns out to be a political stunt and she was a classmate of his in college. When people noticed, she admitted the whole thing was a lie.
He has good positions and seems to be a smart man, I like what he says on the economy. But he doesn't need to pull stunts like this.
-
Hopefully something will be done to curb spending and pay down the debt eventually. Once interest rates go up, this number will get really big really fast.
Hopefully the idea that retirement savings appreciation through smart investing needs to be capped and further taxed will be a thing of the past. Ditto for the kids' college savings plans.
