It didnt take sportsbooks long to start taking bets on the fight once the May 2 bout between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao was officially announced Friday. And the early odds have the undefeated champion favored over the Filipino.
Pregame.coms R.J. Bell had Mayweather as a -250 favorite and Pacquiao as a +200 underdog, meaning you would get 2:1 odds on him.
Sportsbook.com has Mayweather as nearly a 1:3 favorite at -290, with Pacquiao at +230.

As mentioned, no one really cares anymore. Boxing fans only want it now so that it can go into the history books as having had happened. 2009 - 2011, it would've been huge, now it's just two old men fighting. Floyd will duck and dance, and do the usual Mayweather thing, and take the win as UD or SD. I respect Pacquiao more as a fighter, but the Marquez ko, and time have been rough to him.

floyd isn't known for his punching power, but if pac doesn't somehow knock out mayweather, he is in for a very long night.
He should do what maidana did in his first fight against may in the first round but for 12 rounds, but he'd need cartoon level conditioning and I don'tsee that happening

if the midget can't turn him and pull him out of the counter shell, the fight will be over after 4 rounds. arms are too short 67'' reach to come forward and punch between his high guard without getting nasty counters. the better match ups for those who want to see fmw defeated were lara (76'' and can punch through a high guard ala angulo or ishe) or thurman (you have to fight to win rounds from him, not pot shot bullshit. guy is a good student of the game and understands fmw is the best 7 round fighter).

Wtf are you talking about? Judah has no stamina and gassed in the later rounds. Mayweather beat him fair and square. It was unanimous. And Mosley caught Floyd yes, but he didn't almost knock out.

When has Manny's TRex arms ever been a problem? He destroyed a 5'11 Margarito and 5'10 Dela Hoya. Manny will have no problems with his reach.

He is also one of few if any that can go 12 rounds and still shine and and not gas. Mayweather won't be able let to run and win this fight because Manny constantly active. Manny has no reason to respect Floyds power. Floyds shoulder roll defense is good for traditional fighters. Not southpaws, that throw punches in bunches that don't get tired. This will be Floyds toughest fight. This fight is not too late Floyd is estimated to make 180 million and Pac-Man 100 million. So there's clearly interest world wide. Pac-Man has a very good chance of beating Mayweather. Being a southpaw, his speed, power, and fighting style all contribute to it. The average ticket price is $4500 and they aren't selling them to the public. Apparently ticket sales alone will be $70+ million, that's more than triple the most ever of any fight. The Pay Per View will be another few hundred million, plus the wagers. Can be a billion dollar fight.

Boxer Kills His Girlfriend by Hurling Beer Cans at Her Head
23-year-old Ray Gralton has been charged with murder after hurling beer cans at his girlfriend, 28-year-old mother of two, Sara Stauntons head during a very heated two-hour fight. The two of them had both purportedly been drinking fairly heavily prior to the incident.
Mr. Gralton has had 12 prior convictions and had been in what was described as a turbulent relationship with Sara for a year before her death in December of 2013.
Detective Sergeant Gary Walsh stated, There had been instances of domestic violence during the course of the year. There was also a strong culture of alcohol abuse and intoxication on both sides.

Prosecutor Paddy McCarthy, sounding more like defense than prosecution, told the court that Saras best friend Grace McKenna had been in the home the night of her death and had been concerned about her behavior. She added, Sara was fairly drunk at the time, she was grand on beer but couldnt handle [liquor]. She also revealed that Sara had thrown a computer at Ray and that that may have facilitated the events that unfolded.
Grace had stated that the two had been arguing for around two hours with two to three physical altercations occurring during that time. She added that she believed Sara had kicked Ray before he threw the cans of beer at her.
After the final fight, according to prosecutor McCarthy, Sara had gone to bed. It was the next morning when Ray tried to wake her up, but couldnt, that what had become of her was discovered. She was pronounced dead on December 14, 2013.
Although Ray was charged with murder, he pleaded guilty to manslaughter. The Director of Public Prosecutions at Dublins Central Criminal Court accepted his plea.

Just two weeks before the bout, tickets for the most anticipated fight in recent times have yet to go on public sale, with the two camps and the MGM Grand locked in a standoff over allotments. When they are finally put on sale, only a few will be sold at the listed price.
The impasse has left fans in the dark, and ticket brokers perplexed.
''It's bizarre, normally there's a public sale 10 weeks before the fight,'' said Connor Gregoire, an analyst for Seatgeek.com. ''To our knowledge no one has a printed ticket in their hands right now.''
Mayweather's promoter, Leonard Ellerbe, said Tuesday that tickets would go on sale this week for the May 2 fight, but MGM officials have been tight-lipped about their availability. The hotel issued a statement Friday saying there would be a ''limited number of tickets available for sale'' and that it is working with promoters to finalize a date for their release.
The fight was always going to be a tough ticket, with announced prices of $1,500 to $7,500 in the 16,500-seat Grand Garden arena. But those prices have already tripled in the resale market even before tickets are available, and the two camps and the MGM have been dickering over how many seats - and at what price level - each party gets.
Pacquiao's manager, Michael Koncz, blamed the Mayweather camp for holding up the ticket sales, saying they have refused to sign a term sheet negotiated months earlier that specified the allotments.
''It's a real mess right now,'' Koncz said. ''I can only surmise the motivation is greed and an attempt to manipulate the tickets, otherwise why the holdup? I'm more than a little upset they're not for sale to the public.''
Millions of dollars are at stake in the dispute, because after the MGM takes its share each camp gets a certain percentage of tickets and is able to resell them with ticket brokers for higher prices. The estimated gate for the tickets if they are sold at retail prices is already a staggering $72 million, far surpassing the previous gate record of $20 million for Mayweather's 2013 fight with Canelo Alvarez.
Promoter Bob Arum said he has heard of people cancelling their reservations to Las Vegas because they're afraid they can't get tickets.
''This is not acceptable,'' said Arum, who promotes Pacquiao. ''This is a worldwide event that the city of Las Vegas is involved in. It's one of the craziest things I've ever seen.''
Gregoire said the fight is one of Seatgeek's most searched events, but that only a few dozen tickets have been sold through the website. Those tickets are what the ticket industry calls ''spec tickets'' because the sellers don't actually have them in hand, but expect to get them before the fight.
The cheapest seat on the site on Friday was $4,800, and Gregoire said the average sale so far is in the $8,000 range.
''People are hesitant to buy in the secondary market before there's been an original sale,'' he said. ''And you've also got the incredible prices being asked for tickets now. That means a lot of people are not buying tickets at this point.''
At Stubhub there are no tickets for sale, spokeswoman Alison Salcedo said, because the ticket reseller is waiting for actual prices to be set and tickets to be printed.

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum told ESPN.com on Tuesday that he wasn't signing the contract that he received a draft of on April 15 because it wasn't what he agreed to when the MGM, Mayweather Promotions and he signed the term sheet a couple months ago.
"They don't want us to have any say," Arum said. "So whether they came up with the deal between Mayweather and MGM before or after our agreement, they've committed fraud either way. That's what we're enmeshed in."
Not being a signatory to the contract means that Top Rank wouldn't have control of decisions during the fight, including in-arena production, video content and music.
The only hint to the actual term sheet was posted on Manny Pacquiao's Facebook page on the day it was signed in February. Pacquiao posted the first page of the term sheet before deleting it, but not before it was screengrabbed.
While the page of the term sheet does say that Mayweather and Top Rank will "jointly own and promote the event," it also names Mayweather as lead promoter and "sole negotiator" of the deal with MGM.

you got it the wrong way round, Manny throws punches in bunches - he has one of the best engines and work rate in boxing, Mayweather averages a very low amount of punches per fight in comparison not only to Manny but every top 10 welter.
he relies much more on punch accuracy than punch volume. Manny the opposite, most of his stoppages have been from the overwhelming volume of punches he throws.

The joint Showtime-HBO venture will cost $89.95 for standard definition and $99.95 for high-definition, positioning it with estimates of 3 million buys to double the record $150 million in sales from Mayweather's 2013 majority decision win over Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on Showtime.
In a joint statement, the networks said of their copyright infringement complaint, "BOXINGHD.net and SPORTSHIP.org are promoting unauthorized free streams of our intellectual property. Floyd has a great chin, obviously no lamotta or hagler but He's taken some bombs and came through it every time. Mosley was a hell of a puncher and caught him with a bomb. Maidana is one of the hardest hitters in the sport today and connected there with a shot that would have KO'd a lot of people. He's took legit hard shots from the likes of corely, judah, cotto etc and never once even been put on his ass.
Pacquiao on the other hand has been KO'd multiple times and is always open for well timed counters. It's not totally out of the realms of possibility that manny eats another right hand like he did against Marquez.
I can't even hold it back now that this fight is so close, i really really want to see manny get knocked the fuck out again, i can't stand him or freddie.
