Title: How do the pros do it: Question #271 - Blood donation
Post by: Thong Maniac on March 03, 2015, 05:51:04 PM
How does a guy shredded at 260 walk into a red cross and donate due to his out of control hematocrit and rbc count? These guys are obviously enhanced and using steroids is a question they ask when u donate. Any insiders know how they do this without being flagged or turned away?

lie, simple as that.  The blood gets tested, they are not in the position to question.  As long as they are below 20 they are good to go

yes hemoglobin.  20 is their cut-off.  If your over 20 which many will get on heavy long cycles they will not pull blood for risk of clotting.  You then need a script for a therapeutic phlebotomy from a doctor.

The central blood bank is 18.5 I believe

Hemoglobin needs to be below 20 to donate double reds.  You can still donate whole blood.

This was eight gallons and I will hit nine in two months.

I wondered that and had them test me immediately after. It dropped two points.

Double reds gives the largest drop but I feel like crap and on occasion the machine would not register RBC so I was switched to whole. They have been tracking my donations a long time and began sending me pins, letters, hats etc the last couple of years.

Hemoglobin is an iron-rich protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen to the body and that's what the test measures.
