Title: Texas Man, 54, Sets Pull-Ups World Record
Post by: King Shizzo on March 19, 2015, 01:56:23 AM

It took Mark Jordan one year to train for an astonishing new world record and just one day to break it. The 54-year-old Jordan has been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world record holder for most pull-ups in one day. Jordan completed 4,321 pull-ups, breaking the previous mark by more than 100

Jordan set the mark in November 2014, but the Guinness Book of World Records didn't certify the mark until Monday. Throughout his training and during the actual event, Jordan was raising money for a charity called HELP, the Hammons Education Leadership Program.

As for why he stopped at 4,321, Jordan says the consecutive nature of those four digits would make the number easy to remember. The previous record was 4,210, set by Australia's Caine Eckstein in October.

Which single exercise is the best indicator of overall strength? Pull-ups? Deadlift? Squat?

I wonder if the GoRuck boys would be interested in trying something like this? See how many pullups Soulcrusher could do in 24 hours, with a pic of Obama taped on the wall for motivation.

THAT was my exact question?

How many did he do in a row with his hands on the bar and no rest?
The most I ever did was 24 strict from the dead hang each rep, with minimal body swing.
I weighed around 185 lbs and this was at the end of bootcamp.

The best I could now is around 12-13 at a chunky 255 lbs.

The answer is......"likely yes", followed by "and who gives a shit?"

He's 54 and did 4,321 in 24 hours and with proper form, which is more than anyone has done ever.  It's awesome.

And if you believe certain experts in military fitness, the dead hang is unnecessary and increase injury risk.

Would something like this be a good prep workout for a GoRuck?

Just see how many pullups you can do in 24 hours. Would fatigue the body and test endurance for sure.

it's just that when I hear these crazy numbers I go like ::)

I think most chalistenic trainers could come close and some could out do him.

it's just that when I hear these crazy numbers I lif my eye brow, I think most advanced chalistenic trainers could out do him. Everyone whanna be a good runner, don't nobody whanna do 10x 100m sprints.

It doesn't matter what anyone can do in theory.  Those who do it in practice get the accolades.

The man is a bad ass.  And he raised money for charity, so he's a double bad ass.

Actually, this was posted a few weeks back, I just didn't say anything because I wanted to make you feel important shizzo. A story like this is pretty rare and hard to forget, so I didn't have to go searching. But keep up the good work, Shizzo.
