Ok......Ted Cruz...born in Canada by his own admission......is he eligible to be president???.......I don't think so.....I'm basing this on the birther's own claims that president Obama was not born on US. soil so therefore should not have been able to be president.......therefor e he should be disqualified from running........birthers awfully quiet on this issue.......I WONDER WHY??????????
-
Nobody cares.

Nobody cares.
translation...... you're a hypocrite
-
Ted Cruz was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. His parents were both U.S. citizens who were working in Canada at the time. His mother was born in Delaware and his father immigrated to the U.S. from Cuba. The general consensus is that Mr. Cruz is a natural born citizen. As is the case when U.S. citizens are born in another country, Ted had dual citizenship. He's given up his Canadian citizenship.
I have three grandchildren who have dual citizenship, German and U.S. Only one of them was born in the U.S.

Wasn't John McCain in the same boat?

I think his father didn't become a citizen until long after Ted was born

yes...true..only his mother was a citizen at the time..like Obama's mom I guess?
-

He was SUPPOSEDLY born in the Panama Canal...which was American property at the time...both his parents were U.S. citizens though
-
let's see the birth certificate ;D
-

Agreed......I want to see where al those conservatives stand on this

Ok. How exactly am I a hypocrite?
-
The only dispute (if any) will be the definition of natural born citizen.
Here the bottom line though on why there are no Birthers
Birthers are bat shit crazy and one party has an abundance of bat shit crazy people an it's not the Dems (we have our share but it's not 40-60% of the party like it is with Repubs)
-
From what I understand,George W. was actually born in Germany, but hey chose to look at it as American territory, in much the same way they avoided a constitutional crisis when Princess Margereta was born in a Canadian hospital in Ottawa during WWII. That wing of the hospital was no longer Canada. Go figure. I'd love to try that on my municipal property taxes. :P

I don't know......I just like calling you names... :D

you know, Straw...that's an excellent point....good job pointing that out.....but those same bat shit crazy conservatives should now stand on principle and come out and say Cruz is not eligible for president
-

Well at least you admitted it. lol

why do you assume they have principle
this is the party that runs away from their own ideas when Obama get's on board
this is the party who members are against gay marriage until one of their kids comes out
etc..

Got me again..you're on a roll........I just get so worked up over the hypocrisy of the right.....they are so open about their hypocrisy its amazing

he's legal. both parents were US citizens.
He was a dual but he renounced CAN.
The fact Dems are resorting to this show they're very worried about him ;)
When Repubs felt dickless and powerless to stop obama - they were too scared to impeach but couldn't unite the RINO and TP to stop him - they resorted to the birther stuff (which I believe is true). They knew about the birth cert very early on, but didn't use it fr whatever reason.
-

You're right. My mistake. His father didn't become a U.S. citizen until 2005. However, all it takes is one parent being a citizen of the U.S. to make you a citizen, regardless of where you were born.
My dad was born in South Africa. Both his parents were U.S. citizens. Although he served in the U.S. military during WWII, he had to go through a lot of hoops in order to prove he was a U.S. citizen when he went to work for General Electric as an engineer back in 1945.
My three grandchildren who have dual citizenship have a German citizen mother and U.S. citizen father.
-
MEANINGLESS..
its Hildog vs Jeb 2016 and there is SHIT you can do about it because its what TPTB want

Democrats are not worried about him...they are simply giving the GOP a taste of their own medicine for when Obama ran. Ted Cruz has a Canadian birth certificate so regardless, its going to be used against him quite heavily
-
Is a moot issue since Cruz hasn't got a snowball chance in hell of actually getting the nod.
-
He won't but I think Cruz will show whats possible on the GOP side and I think it could lead to Walker. The base hates Jeb...but he has the money so thats where it comes down. This will be a fight for the soul of the party. Do u want a party that adhere's to the Constitution, fiscal responsibility and a strong defense...maybe without adventurism...or dem lite idiots like Jeb. You dems are making a mistake if you think any GOP squabbles are bad. There needs to be a bloodletting.....240 drives me nuts but he's right as shit on Cruz.
-
you guys just dont get it... NOTHING matters.....
Repubs want someone other than Jeb
Dems want someone other than Hildog
HOWEVER if they run AGAINST each other their parties WILL vote for "their guy/gal" because they hate the other guy more.
Elections are not who you are voting FOR any longer.. its who you are voting AGAINST.
TPTB know it and thats how they arrange elections now. the BEST part is you sheeple just keep playing right along voting for the 2 party system always blaming the other guy..
I swear you people who vote dem or repb are a freakin' joke

It's not like there's a choice in the primaries.

then vote by sitting home
Is that what you do? If so, you have nothing to say about the outcome of an election.

And Hawaii. You're not prohibited from voting, you just have to vote for a particular party on the entire ticket. That's largely why I don't vote in our primaries, because I usually split my ticket.

Other methods of selecting candidates include caucuses, conventions, and nomination meetings. Historically, Canadian political parties chose their candidates through nominating conventions held by constituency riding associations. Canadian party leaders are elected at leadership conventions, although some parties have abandoned this practice in favor of one member, one vote systems.
I'd rather our primary system over Canada's.
Hawaii has an open primary. That's different from Oregon's, which is a hybrid primary.

that may be true...but a lot of people said Obama didn't have a snowball's chance in hell either...then lo and behold when he became prez here came the birther issue ;D
