Title: MCT like coconut oil in Keto Diets?
Post by: Thong Maniac on March 24, 2015, 07:07:24 PM
Since im on the AD now, i heard Bios3 guy say McTs prevent you from burning your own fat since the body uses them like a carb? If thats the case, how little or how much coconut oil to use? Ive been using a table spoon in my coffee and a couple tbls to cook fish with.

Adding pure fats to your diet that aren't part of the food like in steak or eggs, unless it is necessary for flavor, is just going to keep you tubby.

AD states you need 60 percent of cals from fats.
To get to that and get omega 3s for health you need to add fats like fish oil, butter, olive oil

You shouldn't be using plant based oils on a keto fat loss diet. Cook fish in butter. Don't drink coffee. It's a carb based drink.

Coffee is all carbs. If it comes from a plant it is carbs, and inferior fats and proteins.

Fish oil is fine. EVOO only after you've lost all the body fat you want to lose. Plant based oils are fattening.

Lol wait, i thought black coffee is 0 carb. What fats can be used while you drop weight to get up to 60 percent fats? Seems like u need to add more. I dont want to eat red meat 4 times a day

Coffee comes from coffee beans, grows on a plant. Heavy Cream, Butter, Pork Chops, Ham, Bacon, Lamb, Turkey, Duck, Chicken, Fish, Eggs, and there is nothing wrong with eating a lot of Beef, just make sure there is a lot of fat on it.

All the proof you need that he is a Broscience moron.  Zero calories but it has carbs?

Here are some delicious foods with fat: pork chops, bacon, ham, bacon, eggs, bacon, barbecue, bacon, flank steak, bacon.

Seriously, you don't seem to be saying that the fat is added because you are hungry. If not, why hassle it go with the lower calories.

Im hearing a lot of normal dieters referring to and using MCT oils and lots are doing the Bulletproof diet.
Trust me, i love the idea of Bacon in the morning and Grass fed Cow butter in my coffee....but theyre acting like this shit is new

This is going to be the next fad...trust me.

Lots of mis-information regarding MCT oils and their effectiveness.

Adding pure fats to your diet that aren't part of the food like in steak or eggs, unless it is necessary for flavor, is just going to keep you tubby.

MCTs or medium chain triglycerides occur naturally in foods like coconuts.

Most fats or lipids are long chain hydrocarbons of 18,20, 22 linked carbons or more .
The MCT is the same basic structure but are only 8-10 carbons long.
This gives them the slow burning aspects of a fat BUT, they get digested via a different process.

Most carbs , especially simple carbs get broken down via release of insulin from the pancreas.
This is a rapid process that helps give you that quick spike in blood sugar.

Most fats break down much slower via release of bile from the gall bladder when they hit the upper intestine.
There is some evidence indicating that MCT use a 3rd form of digestive mechanism that I think involves the liver.

The idea is that MCT give you the stable burn of a fat without the slowest process .
Thus, you get the best of both carbs and fats.

In my case, I couldn't digest and tolerate many MCT's after several attempts.
I got "the runs" and felt queezy, so for me, it was a failure .

MCT's are waste of time and money, buying the cheapest fractionated coconut oil is the same thing. Thats all MCT's are. Its a shitty product for the low carb brigade to make some money off.

Dave asprey and his dumbass bulletproof coffee and brain fuel crap.

Since it's all about percentages, does that mean there's no difference between say 2000 cals at 60% fat and 4000 cals at the same fat percentage?

But that's too simple.  It MUST be more difficult than that!

Most are lazy and will never stop searching for the magic bullet.

I've lost 10-12 lbs in the last 3 weeks by increasing fats and protein and reducing carbs to next to nothing....coupled with reduced caloric intake overall.

Once I begin hitting the cardio early morning again I'll drop 30 more in another 6 weeks.

Fat Jimmy Moore, on the right, author of "Keto Clarity," puts away a lot of heavy cream. Fat Jimmy often drinks it straight from the container.

Just olive oil and fats found in meats and whole eggs primarily.   I'm not full-on, diehard ketosis (no criticism to those who are), but I attempt to limit carbs as much as possible....been helping.   Just limiting carbs and calories.....simple stuff.
