To compete you need to pay at least 100 $ right? Lol 100.000$ in their pocket and will give small 5$ cups to the winners.

Wow. Bodybuilding shows are the only competitions where everyone is a looser.

1000? Sounds like the judging is going to be real fair ::)

There has to be a cut off. Anymore than 2-300 is just for the $$$.

how is that even possible?  Just say each competitior gets a 2 minute routine.  Thats 2000 minutes or 30+ hours.  How can they even do this?

One guy told me that to enter a class you need to pay 200$. Some classes are more expensive than 200$...

I'd bet at least 700-800 are bikini and figure.
MPD will have more entered then bodybuilding.
Bikini , figure and MPD only do qtr turns and don't do posing routines, etc.

Those div have nothing to do with bodybuilding but do make the promoters more $$.

When will people realize all these events are to only benefit the show holder?  The prize pool never comes close to the entry fees and sponsor fees.  It's almost a way for middle aged men/women to play the "professional athlete" role for the weekend, then go back to their grind.  Selling the dream of being a pro athlete...traveling, getting a $5 sponsor from a $2 website, hiring a "coach", talking about being weeks out and your sacrifice...it's all a fun charade.
Competition is good, but save it for real pro athletes.  You didn't make the nba or NFL...now let it go.  Putting on a thong and comparing cycles with other guys has never appealed to me.  It always seems like most are out to prove what they couldn't in an actual sport with skill and at the age that mattered.
Even a dart league would be more impressive.

Thanks! It's 120 for a card and 100 per class

In Cali I think it's either 150 or 175 per class

An NPC card has gone up $70 since 1996. What a rips off. Classes were also 25 dollars so they have gone up $75. It's a nonprofit but it's cash to sign up.

California is about $150 per class.    Wishing you the best there in Texas.  This weekend, I am relaxing and catching up on past photo shoots and projects.

It really does look dreadful. Heath's idiotic pic on the belt. The entire center of the belt looks like a sticker or bad silk screen transfer.  It's just terrible.  Not as bad as Tony Romo, but really terrible.

There are not 1,000 competitors here in Texas.  There are just under 700.  Still, an impressive showing for a local NPC contest and probably the largest for a one day contest. Kudos to Phil Heath for bringing out the crowd and competitors to his event.

Shitty genetics + Drugs = Mediocre physique for competitive bodybuilding (Navy Mike)

Good genetics + Drugs = Superior physique for competitive bodybuilding

Navy Mike, save your organs. We all care about you. Why risk all of this for 13th place in an amateur show?  :-\ :-\ You don't even get that crappy belt.

A friend of mine use to do state shows all the time. Went from like 20th to 3rd over a 10 year period. All he ended up with was a slin belly...Dude looked better when he took 20th...The guy never should have tried to be more than a middle weight. But every year he kept saying he was going to compete in the heavies. Constantly trying to gain weight. He went from being 5'7, 176 pounds contest shape ,not placing well in the middles but looked good to ending up competing at 195 pounds, light heavy placing in the top 5 but looking like a bloated piece of shit...Arnold is right about the state of bodybuilding...As a middle he had a physique that would blow 99% of people away in most circumstances. Great beach body look. As a light heavy, the guy wouldn't even take his shirt off at the beach unless he was 5 weeks out or under which was once a year. And even then looked like a bloated turd...
