Title: Touching "The Rock" story from today
Post by: 240 is Back on April 05, 2015, 08:50:38 PM
Cool story to share on Easter… After my workout I'm driving in my pick up and notice these kids in the rearview mirror screaming and running after my truck. Thought to myself, "Should I stop or keep driving?". I stopped. I hop out of my truck and this kid runs up to me, hugs the hell outta me and says its been his life's dream to meet me and tell me how much Ive inspired him to fight cancer (Hodgkin's lymphoma) and hard core chemo and stem cell transplant treatments. He was a little teary eyed and said for months and months all he's wanted to do was find me and say this face to face. I told him what it meant to me to hear this story. I thanked him, hugged him (and his friends), took a few pics, got back in my truck and drove away. As I'm driving I start shaking my head (and tearing up) at how fragile life is and how amazing and cool the universe was to make this meeting between myself and this special kid Nick Miller come true. Let's always take a moment to count our blessings… cause there's always something to be grateful for. Happy Easter y'all - DJ

That's cool that he did that. I've always thought Dwayne was a good guy, this proves it.

In before a get bigger says:

-The Rock only did this because he is poor and needs more publicity (even though his net worth is to be estimated at 125 million).
-Big deal, a lot of people have cancer. Why is this a big deal?
-Social media (FB, twitter, instagram) is the downfall of civilization.
-The sheeple who use social media love stories like this.
-The Rock is not even that popular any more.
-Why must everything be put on social media?

Most getbiggers wish they could go back to a time before social media.

You sound like an emotional train wreck. It is no ones fault here that you levered yourself up with social media BS. The amount of money one has does not replace the desire to be known as some savior or hero. The true story here would be for someone else to post this that was there and saw this and not the rock. YES, people on social media now including celebs are doing extreme things for publicity and to gain some heroic image.

He did something nice that is not the question, but like so many others on social media, they do certain things only to be able to post it.

Can't anyone do something nice anymore without posting photos and videos online or having the media cover it?

Elvis Presley would have bought this kid a new car, took him for some pancakes and peanut butter and banana sandwiches and then would have kept in touch.  Not really impressed here.  :-\

Maybe this will make "the Rock" reconsider about all the drugs he is taking and the strong possibility that he will die young..

I despise stars, politicians etc who promote themselves in the "look what I did" posts.. so I was prepared to dislike this one.. but yeah, while it has some "look at me" in it...I can't get upset about it. Cool thing to do.

Rock is a good dude. He has a house in Davie Fl, a few miles from me. A lot my friends used to run into him in the gyms around here. He was always cool. I used to train at the same gym as his dad and Orlando Jordan at Clubfit in Cooper City.

I'm guessing Clubfit is a decent gym? I'd always pass by it but never bothered to check it out.

It is, I trained there for about 5 years. Going back about 10 years there were a total of 4 of them. Sunrise, Cooper City, Pembroke Pines, and one in Plantation. They all closed except for Cooper City because of a falling out with the partners.
