Who would you say garnered the most hype and faded away when making the least impact? For me....
Richard Jones.

Was supposed to be the one to usher in a new era and dominate, did next to nothing. Gets the nod over Cedric because he has atleast won a small show. I also remember there being a whole lotta hype around Tevita Aholelei that came to absolutely nothing.

Jason huh, Cedric, Seth feroce, those are the big ones I think could have done major damage. There are others but they where never going to do much.

Tevita got mad that Garrett Downing beat him for the Pro card. He threw his trophy and broke it. When he won his Pro card he went no where. Garrett had a better career. So, if he truly was better than Garrett, it would have showed in his placings...
Richard was hyped, and deservedly so. Pretty boy with lines reminding one of Shawn Ray and triceps like Ronnie Coleman. He got out to pursue other interests--job and schooling. Apparently last H&R he said that he would make a comeback.

Wasn't Greg Kovacs hyped as future Mr. Olympia by Muscle-Tech when he entered "the scene"?

We all know the end of the story...

That is a huge one indeed in terms of hype vs actual accomplishment, along with Vic Richards.

Kovacs ate a shitload of junk food....5 Big Macs, 50 nuggets, 3 sides of x-large fries, 10 apple pies for just one meal and he would do that every 3-4 hours.....must of had at least 15k calories a day. Serious binge eater.

Don't know that he was a 'let down' but given the hype I fully expected him to be top 2 at the Olympia for years to come.

His colon "let him down"
-
DEf no one was a bigger let down then Chris cook. Not that he had alot of potential he only did like what 2 shows. Capriese murray wasn;t really a let down he was just a smart guy he had some health problems and quit. thin about it capries worked a whole year with John O' Reagon shooting alot of gear and synthol protocols trained that whole year and I believe the first national show he did in 05 he got 5th and then the next one he went pro, The right after that he did the NY pro and placed 5tyh in his first show qualified for the Olympia but he swore if he ever had any health problems he was going to quit for his wife. This about working a whole year and a half with John O reagon with no rest I'm sure his blood work was fucked up!
-
Ed Kawak, Brain Buchanan, Bertil Fox, when they came over from NABBA to become IFBB pros.
-
Stan mcquay, Mo Elbasouni, Lionel Brown
-
Along with Mendenhall, Rory Leidlemeyer who should have been standing on a pro stage. Dennis Newman certainly would have been in the running for Mr. O. had he not gotten sick.

he turned pro at 2004 nationals in Dallas, just correcting. I was there.

Branch warrant as far as what his physique should have been, instead tearing every muscle in his body.

Also 1997 USA winner Kenneth Brown. He didn't do anything.
Fred Bigot, Slyvester Solomon, Jeff "Box" Long, Darien Bond, Leo Ingram...
Fred Bigot, Slyvester Solomon and Jeff Long could really make a dent in today's line up.
-
Melvin Anthony - could have done so much more
Eryk Bui - after his rant about the Ifbb and getting into it with Bob....
Richard jones - still waiting on his comeback like he said he was going to do...
-
Aaron "Mr. Intensity" Maddron.
-
Matt Duvall, RIP. he was the Frank McGrath prototype.

Another dude with the Ben White type yapper fuckin' mouth who just make me hate them with their cockyness they can't back up in shows.

What about Dennis Newman and what could have been
-
Newman got cancer...... Not his fault and hardly a letdown
Francois......Colon let him down
Dillet completed during a tough time. Now he would kill it.
Melvin Anthony had good placings.
Antoine Valliant has been a letdown
Khan was a bust
Centopani hasn't done real well
-
What about Dennis Newman and what could have been
Dennis, was Joe Weider's wet dream. Surely would have been giving Dorian and company a run for the money, if he hadn't come down with Leukemia.

Him getting Cancer was a let down/disappointment to his fans and himself. If you mean let down has lazy and never did anything with their great genetics then ya he wouldn't fit in this category

By letdown I'm meaning people that had the ability but never got it rollimg. Newman had some things out of his hands. I just got a new Fox body too. Been reading your posts
-
Case closed baby ;D yes he was technically a pro

I remember that too! That was the first time lift tudios ever came on here and posted a picture of Phil Heath, that was the first glimpse of the reigning Mr.Olympia. Mo finished like 14th in that show! Not even close! He blamed it on being sick.wich is possible but at that stage everybody feels like shit.
-

I'm sure your right. I just know it was around 04-05. I want to say he did the 2005 NY Pro but it could of been the 2004 NY pro and he qualified for the 04 Olympia or the o5 it was so long ago!
